Avatar f tn My vision insurance does not cover ophthamologists. My medical insurance does but only for strabismus, amblyopia, or eye injury. From my research from articles from the American Academy of Pediatric Opthamology and Strabismus, the American Optometric Association, and American Academy of Ophthamology I have found several things. The AOA states that astigmatism up to 2D is common in children under 3. My daughter's was 1.25 & 0.50. She had just turned 3.

Avatar m tn His doctor told him that even with a new prescription his vision cannot be corrected (in the bad eye) to better than 20-50. He has trouble driving during the day (always thought the problem was night driving) because of glare, and cannot read signs.
Avatar n tn About 3 yrs ago, I had a muscle detach in my eye. I was afraid of surgery and never had it fixed. However I have had double vision for the past 3 yrs, " I can control the eyes when driving and do not see double," but normally the eyes become very strained from trying to see day to day. I get headaches as well I do have excellent vision in each eye individually. I have been told about the possibility of eye glasses with prisms maybe helping.
Avatar n tn Surgery was done to repair the detached retina and, I am told that it was successful, however, I continue to lose peripheral vision and every time I get new glasses, the vision gets even worse. I have been told that everything that can be done has been done and there is nothing left but to "live with it." Well, I fly RC helicopters as a hobby and "living with it" is not a viable solution.

Avatar f tn All patients also underwent phacoemulsification with IOL implantation during macular hole surgery. At one year, the closure rate was 81.3 percent and vision improved from 20/200 to 20/40. They conclude that isolating the macula from vitreous fluid with a large long-lasting gas-fill may render postoperative posturing unnecessary.

Avatar f tn I have no medical insurance and I have an agressive cataract in my right eye that has made me legally blind in that eye. Avatar n tn Hello Doctors and my fellow patients, I have been wearing soft contact lenses for 10years, As i have very high Myopia ( -18 ) i never had 20/20 vision. But recently when I went to get new contacts at New England Hospital they tried RGP lenses and the vision is great. Now i have almost 20/20 vision. But the problem is i have been wearing these lenses for 4 weeks now and i cannot tolerate these lenses after 3-4hrs of wear time. My eyes would become red and i could feel them constantly.
Avatar f tn Since then, my eyes have returned to normal. No sign of double vision or nystagnis. Numbness has also disappeared. I have been accepted into the state police academy in my state. I currently work for a package delivery company. Not going to tell you guys which one, only that they are brown. :) On average, I work 12 hours per day and it is extremely physical. I also have been doing the P90X program for the past 3 months. I am happy to say that I have not had any symtoms associated with these.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with myopic degeneration and receive the intraocular injection which is very effective. My insurance carrier will not cover the cost of the injection (medicine and surgery). If I had a diagnosis of macular degeneration it would be fully covered. I am looking for suggestions as to how to make my case with the insurance carrier that this is not a one time event but a chronic condition that if not treated would result in a loss of vision.

Avatar f tn I had cataract surgery in my left eye, I was supposed to get far vision in both eyes & have reading glasses, I ended up with very close vision 6 in to 18 in in the left eye & I can see a ring around the outside of my eye when I read, model sn60wf 25.0d. I now have a ghost image to the left side of all objects in the left eye & a kinked capsule that also gives me a white star burst diagonally . so the surgeon adjusted the next cataract lens in my right to sn60wf 24.
