Avatar m tn Is Tenofovir (Viread) good drug for the treatment of HBeAg-positive patients with high HBV DNA levels but low serum ALT levels (less than 35)? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Renal impairment, including cases of acute renal failure and Fanconi syndrome (renal tubular injury with severe hypophosphatemia), has been reported with the use of VIREAD [See ADVERSE REACTIONS]. It is recommended that creatinine clearance be calculated in all patients prior to initiating therapy and as clinically appropriate during therapy with VIREAD. Routine monitoring of calculated creatinine clearance and serum phosphorus should be performed in patients at risk for renal impairment.

Avatar f tn He did finaly go to Dr. and it looks like it he will start the treatment with the Viread...I am praying that he will get better, and that the treatment will work to keep his virus in check. He is also going on a strict diet, but I do not know how long he will be able to stay on it...he likes "tasty" food , he does not drink(never really did more than 1-2 beers) and his life style changed in better.I am just hopeful that he will stay "healthy" for many years to come.

Avatar m tn I have taken Viread for about 8 weeks to treat Hep B but wish to stop it now because of side effect that I am having. I have stomach ache, weight loss and feeling of heat sensation around my body.
Avatar f tn On the other hand, it is generally considered safe for mothers on Viread to breakfeed - concentration of Viread in breast milk is minimal and experiences from HIV mothers on Viread indicated no significant side effects on baby. So it may be an option to delay switching until breastfeeding is over. Just my understanding.
Avatar m tn I started taking Viread two weeks ago. In the last visit, my doctor gave me the MYACESS card (from Gilead, Viread maker). It is like a VISA card. I called the activation number, and with some simple answers, they authorized $50 per month for my Viread prescription co-pay. Information on this card indicated that they can pay up to $200 per month. Hope this info helps!
Avatar m tn My doctor recommended Viread treatment to me for hepatitis b virus. I had taken pegasy for a year, no good result;the virus returned to the blood immediately few days after the treatment of pegasy . For past 3 yrs i have been taken VIREAD. Normally i do DNA test every six months for the viread load. 5 dna test i did, all read negative( i.e two and half years ) . The last DNA test i did recently in january 2012 reads positive. I do take this treatment (VIREAD) everyday. My doctor is worried.

Avatar m tn Is switching from Baraclude to Hepsera a valid treatment option, then? Shouldn't Viread have been tried next?
Avatar m tn It is very hard to give you our opinions based on so little and one-off information. Most likely your Dad has HBeAg negative chronic Hepatitis B (high viral load and HBeAg is negative). Because of older age, treatment is recommended and Viread is one of 3 first line treatments. So there is every reason to believe that your Dad will respond to Viread and provided his liver is in a reasonable shape, his prognosis should be very good.
Avatar f tn There are no data to recommend use of VIREAD tablets 150, 200 or 250 mg or VIREAD oral powder in patients with renal impairment. No dose adjustment of VIREAD tablets 300 mg is necessary for patients with mild renal impairment (creatinine clearance 50–80 mL/min). Routine monitoring of calculated creatinine clearance and serum phosphorus should be performed in patients with mild renal impairment [See Warnings and Precautions (5.3)]. 5.
Avatar f tn I had abnormal kidney function 6 months ago and doctor told me to split Viread in half...which I know think was a bad direction since I may create resistance to Viread.
