Common Questions and Answers about Viread side effects

viread

Avatar m tn Has anyone had side effects of slight fever with Truvada? These are not listed on the package insert, but I note from Dailymed.com Viread did cause fever in clinical trials (i.e., Truvada is a combo of Viread and Emtriva).
Avatar f tn So i've been on tenofivor(viread) for about 8months now. I've experienced most of the side effects listed. Recently i've been experiencing a pain from my upper left chest throughout my arm. Mostly at night, then during the day I feel a tingly feeling throughout my body. The last time I had my tests done I was at 70 hbvdna. Of course its not the best test because the American health care system blows. But I've heard we are now getting fibrosis scans and hbsag quanitity scans.
Avatar f tn the pain you are having around your rib cage was something i also experienced at the onset of starting TNF, but was gone after about 6 months, and not back ever since for almost 4 years on. I have come to realise its due to fatty liver. Get rid of that and you wont experience that no more. Diet helps, and also vitamin d.
Avatar f tn I was advised to go on Viread while pregnant and I had major concerns about the side effects of Viread. Now Not pregnant and my hep doctor says that I can go on enteclavir since it does not have the kidney toxicity concern. Mid anyone on enteclavir and have any side effects. Also am nursing, is it safe for baby? Doctor says enteclavir is very safe to take.

Avatar m tn I notice that lactic acidosis is one of the side effects of taking Baraclude. Actually one of the more dangerous side effects of Baraclude. Is switching from Baraclude to Hepsera a valid treatment option, then? Shouldn't Viread have been tried next?
Avatar m tn It can cause side effects like liver damage, nausea, and stomach pain. The duration and dosage of therapy can be decided only by a hepatologist. It is suggested to consult a heptaologist.A detailed medical evaluation may be necessary for exact diagnosis and management of your condition. Hope you find this information useful. Keep me posted. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar f tn I have been on Viread for 10 yrs. no side effects since I am an athlete and do exercise everyday. I have bone thinning as well. I would recommend exercise to keep your bones from thinning too much. I had abnormal kidney function 6 months ago and doctor told me to split Viread in half...which I know think was a bad direction since I may create resistance to Viread.
Avatar f tn What is inif mono therapy ? The side effects from Viread scare me to death. Id it really that bad? I think I got this at birth.
Avatar n tn After his viral count down to zero and doctor give him viread but he has side effects, doctor said if his immune produce antibody then he can stop.
Avatar m tn on 1/18 i stop viread and called doctor and agreed for me to be off viread for a few days to see if the symptom i experienced are side effects from viread. I'm not feeling any better and decided to go see my primary doctor.  He ran a bunch of tests and all came back normal except my liver 10 time elevated. Jan 21 15 Alt 1680 Ast 1070 My gi doctor told me to stard viread again. My sympton getting worst include vomiting in the last 3 days since i was back on viread and extremly weak.
Avatar n tn Lack of FDA trials on the Baraclude/Viread combination may mean unexpected interaction/side-effects. Current Thought: Go Combo Baraclude/Viread when treatment is needed. It appears current combination studies are progressing on schedule with no substantial reports of issues/discontinuations (through not sure if they report all this). If they have a better combo or even a cocktail by then, go with that. PS Is 6 months the standard follow-up (even on treatment?).
Avatar m tn Thank you both for your quick response. My dad currently does not feel any symptoms. He did feel some side effects after taking the Viread. He also has diabetes for a long time. Can diabetes lead to liver disorders(Hep B)?
Avatar m tn What can I expect from this? Will I have side effects? What other supplments should I take to help out my viral load situation or help out the effect of Viread?
Avatar m tn By the way, your doctor should have not prescribed you to Peg_IFN a-2a, it has a lot more side-effects and it’s not as effective as Tenofovir. Refer to the WHO guideline to chronic Hep B - http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/releases/2015/hepatitis-b-guideline/en/ It specifically recommends the use of tenofovir or entecavir for the treatment of chronic hep B. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn ContraVir reports data shows CMX157 more potent against HBV than Gilead Viread ContraVir Pharmaceuticals (CTRV) announced preliminary data dramatizing the unique properties of CMX157, the company's highly potent lipid prodrug of the successful antiviral drug tenofovir, or TFV. CMX157 was shown to be 60-fold more active than tenofovir against the hepatitis B virus, or HBV, based on in vitro studies.
Avatar m tn If I cannot handle the AZT, would you suggest continuing to take it regardless or toss it and continue with Viread and Epivir only or manage side effects somehow? Finally, what is the earliest conclusive test possible if PEP is unwarranted? A viral load test at 10 days? Thanks for your help.
