Hi just want to share my experience, i'm a reactive hepa b since 2011 and just last Sept 2014 my friend (doctor) told me to go for a check up and some blood test. Got my results last Sept 2014 and sad to say I have a million of virus inside my body, my DNA Viral load is more than 110,000,000IU/ml and my hbsag quantification was 210,000, hbsag and hbeag were both reactive. My doctor told me to take VIREAD (its a antiretroviral tenofovir) and need to have follow up check up after 3 months.

AstraZeneca's (AZ) Iressa and Beta Pharma's Conmama, both for treatment of lung cancer, have had their prices cut in China, as has GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) Viread for treatment of hepatitis B.
The price cuts, which are at least 50%, were agreed upon by the central government and drug makers after negotiations.
From what I have read, these medications are at a reduced price, for the vast number of people using them also for HIV aswell as HBV.
Is this something a lot of people do? Is the process simple?

I used to purchase Peginterferon 180mcg of Roche company which MRP is INR 16533 at price INR 13800. And also company giving me buy one get one free offer so price comes for 1 injection is INR 6900.
Also for tenofovir tab 300mg I am taking TenoHep brand which MRP for 10 Tab is INR 623, and company gives me offer of by two get one free. so ultimately price comes for 10 tab is INR 415.
Do you kw another better brands for both medicine with have less price in india( Delhi/NCR)?
I would think TAF in time will be approved for HBV too , just like Viread has. When TAF becomes approved it will come with that patent that Viread has now. No big surprise I read that TAF is said to get FDA approved around the time Viread's patent ends.
Personally, I feel it's a big game the drug company uses to continue to make more money. Gilead knows Viread will be available as Generic in the near future, so they have to have a new Brand up and coming with TAF.
China has re written their F D A type regulation banning Viread because the earlier agreement stated that Viread was 300% higher in cost. China decided at that price, few people could afford the $12,000/yr and was not helping it's people. Brazil and another country have banned the Viread name and it's exclusion for the Generic Tenofovir. I am buying the generic through a Canadian pharmacy. They have store fronts across the country.

whtever info u hv fr BARACLUDE is false and wrong info xcpt the price...yes..price is 212 INR per day therapy unless untill u hv any Assistance programme with you...BARACLUDE is a damn good medicine in HBV as it lowers the HBV DNA level in ur blood on continuous treatment.it also reverse ur liver structurally..it reverses the fibrosis and cirrhosis..its proven..and mind it this medicine is backed up by atleast 500 studies...worldwide.its a miraculous drug.
It costs me HK$3,000 (US$400) a month in last 2 years. I expect the price to drop sharply after the patent expiry. But, it did not. Anyone has any idea ?

why did you stop viread without any knowledge of your drug and illness, viread is safe for the baby, restart it immediately also to protect baby from hbv
there are other pregnant women taking viread here and since viread is also used on hiv the number of babies borne while taking viread is very very high and no problems at all

Also, how do they decide if you should be on viread tablets or on the injection (peginterferon)? If your on viread do you have to take it for life? And if you take the peginterferon injection then after one year if hbv dna is undetected can you stop taking all medication?
Finally, is the coast of viread tabs close to a 1000dollars a month? Thats damn expensive.
just try intf+viread and see if hbsag lowers, viread mono will not work on hbsag but intf+viread has high percentages of response
Stefano and others, thanks for your help. As I posted before, 2 of my relatives are currently undergoing Hepsera monotherapy. I went to a new doctor for a second opinion and the Hepsera-prescribing current doctor for an explanation of treatment choice.
The first doctor agreed that Baraclude and Viread are to be dispensed per current AASLD guidelines but, once you've started with Hepsera, there is no need to change. He felt that the resisitance rate for Hepsera (vs.

you should take viread+interferon like other members in the forum, chances to clear hbv once and for all are 24% at 48 weeks.

I also started on Viread in March 2011. Before taking Viread i had absolutely no symptoms. Upon resuming viread i started experiencing the same symptoms as you have. I checked out the viread site to see if these symptoms were normal and from what i read they seemed to be quite usual and covered in the broad range of possible symptoms experienced by patients while taking viread.
However i would like to hear any contrary opinions if anyone has any.
1. Should I take VIREAD immediately as suggested by my primary care doctor? And why?
2. Will VIREAD change my life style, i.e. make me exercise less, no more hiking / skiing trip?
3. Am I correct that I will take VIREAD for life?
4. When will VIREAD develop resistance? Any known data / study on this?
5. What is the life expectancy can I expect?

On the other hand, it is generally considered safe for mothers on Viread to breakfeed - concentration of Viread in breast milk is minimal and experiences from HIV mothers on Viread indicated no significant side effects on baby. So it may be an option to delay switching until breastfeeding is over.
Just my understanding.
