viread

Avatar m tn If you are an inactive carrier with undetected hbv dna and no damage why were you put on viread? Or were you active before and thats why you were put on viread? Also, how do they decide if you should be on viread tablets or on the injection (peginterferon)? If your on viread do you have to take it for life? And if you take the peginterferon injection then after one year if hbv dna is undetected can you stop taking all medication?
Avatar m tn 1- It will be a life-time medicine and 2 - My HBV may develop resistance to it. So I asked for another blood test to be sure and to test for GENOME TYPE since my doctors had never tested this. I am also thinking of getting a second opinion from another Hepamathologist before feeling sure to take VIREAD. My question: 1. Should I take VIREAD immediately as suggested by my primary care doctor? And why? 2. Will VIREAD change my life style, i.e.
Avatar f tn i switched between viread and truvada a few times due to elevated triple digits ALT, my GI dr was very concern as well, sent me to those tests such as liver ultrasound, liver biopsy, HBV DNA, kidney, cholesterol, and all within normal range. i am the lucky 1% to 2% hbv patient sero-converted yearly after nearly a decade on viread.
Avatar m tn Viread is one of antiviral drug for HBV; yes it needs time to see if its working to suppress the virus number (HBV DNA)... my advice is, live a healthy life.. in my opinion until now the only effective cure is from our own immune system.. you need to get yourself as fit as possible.. so your immune system might work properly..
Avatar m tn I am 32 years old male, living in the United States and I have HBV since birth. Two weeks ago, I started using tenofovir (viread), but my ALT and AST levels are remarkably increasing in the past two months. I wonder if anyone has any explanation for this? My test results are below and I will keep them updated as I have more test results.
Avatar f tn I have been using Viread since 9 months now and didn't get any headaches. Do not use Tylenol though, it is not recommended while using Viread.
Avatar m tn Viread and Baraclude both create resistance where the hell did he see viread resistance?it is not yet found on any hbv patient until now, i think he never read the trials..... patients develop serious side effects (like lactic acidosis for Baraclude), there is really no choice but to give Hepsera (didn't say why Viread wasn't given instead). latic acidosis has been found only in severe decompensated cirrhosis and so rare on hbv patients.
Avatar f tn I've been on Viread a few months with good results so far. Before meds and at 2 month mark my kidney level was unchanged (gfr and creatine good). I know Viread has that risk long term of kidney damage, which worries me since most will need it longterm or life, as of what's available now. I have read taking baking soda is good for kidneys. Should I start this, or only of I see changes in labs?
Avatar n tn according to the hbsag quantity response this combo can be stopped at 24weeks or continued for 96weeks or more if you are in US you can only send samples to other countries to test hbsag quant i d skip viread only because chances to clear hbv are only 16% at 3 years while the combo intf+viread may have much higher percentage at 96weeks
Avatar n tn you should know yoour liver damage by fibroscan, viread itself is useless on a healthy liver with no HCC increased risk by c genotype or precore/bcp the only thing that makes sense is using viread to add on intf after 3 years or more and clear hbv definitively, not taking viread pills for life.
Avatar m tn I am a healthy carrier of HBV and have been taking viread for more than 1 year. The latest blood test showed that HBV DNA was below the detection limit. I came to malaysia to work recently and after I came here, I tried to get viread and seems i could not find it anywhere. My doctor recommand that I can take Baraclude, but I am a little worried. I saw in the old post, that people take both, but for my case, by just pure change from one to another, will there be any side effect?
Avatar f tn ContraVir reports data shows CMX157 more potent against HBV than Gilead Viread ContraVir Pharmaceuticals (CTRV) announced preliminary data dramatizing the unique properties of CMX157, the company's highly potent lipid prodrug of the successful antiviral drug tenofovir, or TFV. CMX157 was shown to be 60-fold more active than tenofovir against the hepatitis B virus, or HBV, based on in vitro studies.
17456918 tn?1460948562 i m on viread for 1year. There may be some association with hbv but not viread i guess so because hbv causes dysfunctioning of liver which has direct role in amino acid systhesis for keratin(nail protein) and melanin(skin colour protein). Hence viread will only improve liver function by reducing hbv and not hamper it. As a drug it does'nt interferes with melanin or keratin synthesis ie. no such side effects.
Avatar f tn I d keep truvada until hbvdna undetectable and then switch to viread
Avatar f tn Thanks for your comment Liverpatient and Stephen. As far as I know, I don't have kidney issues. But doesn't it make sense for most people with HBV to choose entecavir rather than Viread due to possible kidney toxicity concerns? Why is Viread the initial go to drug? If I was given the option inititially, wouldn't it make sense to chose ETV even with healthy kidneys?
Avatar m tn GILD) has Viread, one of the best selling treatments for HBV that sold over $1.1B in 2015. But Viread is still not a cure. ADVERTISING Gilead’s stock has also been in decline of late, and the company is looking for a shot in the arm. Gilead GILD pharmacist store examing pharmaceutical stocks medical kurhan / shutterstock.com Plenty of analysts have discussed possible comeback routes for Gilead, but there is one wild card that is getting almost no attention.
1191262 tn?1366763021 It seems like there are 2 theories regarding HBV transmission risks either by having ceasarian-section or a natural delivery. I am pregnant and my HBV DNA is undetectable (on Viread treatment) but was wondering if I should go with a C-section or go for a natural delivery. In north America, it seems like they opt for natural delivery. Does it add risks to HBV transmission or is it fine?
Avatar m tn Currently DESCOVY 25mg TAF plus 200mg emtricitabine is alead approved for hiv in the USA and canada. It could well be used for hbv, most likely at 1/2 tablet a day for hbv for patients who do not tolerate viread. the emtricitabine. ..also called FTC, is also used in TRUVADA at the same dose, which is frequently used by hepatologists for patients with a suboptimal response to viread.
Avatar m tn In term of side effects, not sure if bone/muscle pain, bad breath was from hbv or viread, but now I feel best in my life, got all the energy back, no tiredness or sleepy.
