Avatar n tn If you temperature keeps fluctuating, going up and down, you may have an infection which may be a bacterial or a viral one. It is still worth making an appointment to see your doctor to check you out. If the doctor feels it is a bacterial infection, you will get prescribed with an antibiotic. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Avatar n tn He has lost 12 pounds, has been in and out of the hospital and each time is diagnosed with a viral infection. I was curious what your thoughts are in regards to the symptoms he has been experiencing. It all started after a work out at the gym. He was driving home and felt as if he was going to pass out. The drive home took 45 minutes when it should have only took 20. He said he kept getting lost.
Avatar n tn My seven-and-a-half year old son has always had a high number of upper respiratory infections since toddler. Asthmatic symptoms include cough and sometimes wheezing when coming down with viral infection, and when exercising in cold weather. Infections resolve on own, but I'm concerned about high susceptibility to viral infection. Since school began in September, he has been ill with URI seven times, as well as with H1N1. Pediatrician did CBC and seems unconcerned, should I be?

Avatar f tn If her symptoms were due to hsv2, the viral swab will most likely be positive. However, if your child was already taking antivirals, the swab will most likely be negative - maybe a false-negative. Assuming her outbreak was, indeed, due to hsv2 - yes, sexual abuse is strong possibility.

Treatment includes physical destruction or manual extrusion of the lesions, cryotherapy, and curettage. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist.
Avatar f tn Hello. I have an unidentified viral infection, and I'm hoping that someone here can shed some light on my situation for me. It all started after receiving oral sex from a female. The reason that I don't post this in the STD forum is because I've already been tested for all STD's multiple times, and I will explain more below. I will post all of my symptoms that I've had for the past 16 weeks, week by week. Btw, I am a 28 year old male.

My question is: Could I have any type of Hepatitis related to Gallbladder?? I've had a passing fever last week for one day. Avatar n tn This viral infection is seen most commonly during summer and autumn in young children. It is not the same viral infection that causes foot and mouth disease in farm animals. The symptoms are usually mild and last about seven days with a slight fever initially. The mouth develops small blisters that often break to form small ulcers. Small pearly grey, oval shaped blisters with a narrow red edge can occur on the fingers, the toes and around the side of the heels.
Avatar m tn Considering your symptoms, I don’t think your monospot test is false positive as Infectious Mononucleosis is a viral illness and can manifest in the way it has manifested in you without any symptoms of sore throat. I hope that helps and please do keep me posted. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn everything was normal except WBC which was slighly raised. Doc said this is viral infection and prescribed more antibiotics. after 2 weeks all the symptoms were still the same infact got worse. I went to new doc she prescribed antiallergy meds and got more blood tests like thyroid, c reactive protein, HIV everything came back negative. then she referred me to a rheumatologist. The rheumo asked me to do a complete arthritis profile blood work ( pretty costly) which again came back normal.
1634950 tn?1302896780 Virus-induced asthma refers to inflammation and constriction of the airways that is triggered by a viral respiratory infection. Symptoms may be best managed by taking measures to speed up recovery from the viral infection e.g. rest and fluids. Specific asthma medications may include bronchodilators and steroid inhalers. Management of asthma, and medications used to prevent and treat symptoms depends on the frequency and severity of symptoms.
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
Avatar f tn Although not clinically diagnosed, I have experienced a viral infection which has hospitalised me 3 times. The viral infection itself has since diminished, however, it has left me with pressure in my head & neck and a constant burning sensation in my scalp and now my eyes seems to be sore quite often. I am taking Lyrica to help suppress the pain, but am desperately in need of being able to talk with someone who may be experiencing the same thing.
Avatar m tn Chronic hepatitis B if not treated properly can result in a number of complications, predominant being, fibrosis, liver failure, cirrhosis, acites (fluid in abdomen), liver cancer, portal hypertension, kidney involvement, porphyria, hepatic encephalopathy (brain involvement), and an increase in viral co-infection with HIV, Hepatitis C, D, E.
