Avatar f tn My optometrist wrote me a prescription for Vigamox. I actually have an Unopened bottle but realized the expiration date on the box is 12/2009. I was hoping to save the $100 and use the unopened bottle but do not know if that is such a wise idea. Are expired eye drops safe?
Avatar n tn My left eye was bothering me for about two weeks, off and on. I thought I had a simple eye infection and used previously Rx'd drops to self treat it ( I know, I know ), then it became very apparent when I could not focus my eyes while driving that something was wrong. I saw my Doctor he put numbing drops in my eyes and did a slit light test, then prescribed me acular and vigamox, directed me to two different OTC drops ( one which is almost gel like ).
Avatar f tn I am in the middle of having cataract surgery (one eye is done and the other will be done tomorrow). The doctor gave me small samples of Nevanac & Vigamox to use before and after the surgeries. He also gave me a prescription for both. In checking with my health insurance plan, I see that each prescription will cost me $75 to fill. I saw in a previous question that Tobramycin might be substituted for Vigamox (which is MUCH cheaper). Can you suggest a cheaper substitute for Nevanac?
1128722 tn?1263102664 Dr. Hagen Although my vision remains good I have developed a serious problem and I have no idea whether it is related to the surgery, the medication, a combination of both or if it is something totally unrelated. 2 days before the surgery I started Vigamox eye drops 4 times a day. The day OF my surgery I noticed a small rash around my hipline. I thought nothing of it and wrote it off as my jeans being too tight or something similar.
Avatar m tn It is unusual for patients to be allergic to Vigamox but does happen on occasion. Should not have any lasting effects past a few days. If your vision is blurry, ask the doctor if your cornea is clear and doing ok.
Avatar f tn She told me to take Vigamox every 2h instead of 4. When I read the trial on Vigamox the patient took the drug 3x a day and see efficacy after 4-5days. For me it had been 5 now 6 days. I am kind of scare and I don't know if they know what I have exactly. Anyone on earth had a similar event or know what it could be please answer I will highly appreciate and have a better thanksgiving. Also is it dangerous to take Vigamox at each 2h?
Avatar f tn Now I am scheduled for cataract surgery, and in the presurgical packet I received this weekend, there is an rx for Vigamox, even though I requested that a note about the Cipro/Vigamox problem be placed in my file. I know the fluoroquinolones are appealing to docs because they are so tremendously effective, but for people who cannot tolerate them, are there acceptable substitutes?
Avatar f tn Yarrow, I wanted you to know that I had cataract surgery on my left eye on Jan. 11. And I used the Vigamox drops pre and post-op as directed. Three days after surgery, I woke up with a problem with my left shoulder. I'm not sure it was tendinitis, and maybe it was a coincidence that I had it. But I can tell you that it took about a month for it to finally get better! I stopped the Vigamox drops around Jan. 26. Just posting this as an FYI.
Avatar m tn I do wear contacts but I do not sleep in them at night-to me the vision looked like it would if I put my contact in and there was a smudge on it. So I immediately went to my eye doctor who told me that I have swelling in my edema and there were folds that aren't very common so he sent me to an Opthamologist.
Avatar m tn t burn your eyelids) on your eyelids for 5-10 minutes every night followed by scrubbing of your eyelashes with warm water and a Q-tip (this is meant to decrease the amount of bacteria on your eyelashes before the surgery). After this, you should place lubricating gel or ointment (meant for dry eyes) before you go to bed. This should make your symptoms better within 2 days.
1415174 tn?1453243103 A marginal cornea ulcer in the standard sense is not an aggressive ulcer and often non-infected and due to an anti-body/antigen reaction (hypersensitivity). If the bacitracin is clearly making your eye red, swollen and the skin looking scaled then you should likely follow the doctor on call's advice and stop it.
Avatar f tn thank-you!
1428481 tn?1340593131 I have the eye drops (Vigamox) on hand and was wandering if I could use them on my son. I have heard a lot about pink eye but never in infants so I'm not sure how to treat an infant with Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis). He has green mucus basically gluing his right eye together. I have had to wipe it clean multiple times with a wet cloth. The white of his eye is not red but I have heard of people having pink eye without it actually being red.
Avatar m tn I am using patanol and vigamox. Problem is i have like a white discharge on my eye and it does not like to come out. I use a hot compress twice a day then i try to rinse my eye and flush my eye as well. Nothing it just remains in my eye. Most of the time i go to bed and it still there. When the white discharge remains in my eye for too long it gets hard and crust and sticks to my skin this hearts really bad.
Avatar f tn Last night I felt pain on my upper eyelid. This morning was swollen and it is getting swollen by the minute associated with pain, no matter. I put cold compresses but it did not help. What do you suggest. thanks.
Avatar m tn I have a bad case of Blepharitis and my optician has prescribed Vigamox to be used for 7 days on my eye lids. I am on the 4th day and I don't see a whole lot of change in my eyelids. Is there something better than this? I also go to an Opthamoligist and he prescribed a salve, which also didn't work. I am putting hot compresses on everynight with a lid scrub (also not working.) I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks.

Avatar m tn Now the DLK is healed but it left a scar on my right eye. My doctor says it is very thin but since it is in the center of my cornea, it greatly affects my vision-my work, my everyday life. We must not lose hope. This can clear-up overtime. I am currently taking predforte, maxitrol, duotrav and vigamox. With these meds, I also pray:) Miracles do happen everyday!
Avatar m tn I did this for about eight years and never had any problems until about a year and a half ago. In November 2009, I was diagnosed with pink eye and was given vigamox. About a day later I had to go to the emergency room because I was covered in a rash and having problems breathing. After that, my eye doctor took me off the vigamox and gave me a new prescription eye drop. It seemed to be working at first, but after a few weeks of the new drop it made my eye pressure skyrocket.
Avatar m tn After using the Vigamox and Prednisolone, I could focus on details in the distance, although they were smeared vertically (not blurred). For example, although inconvenient, I could read distance signs like before. However, in the past week, the smear has been replaced with a blur like astigmatism (vertical axis). I saw the ophthalmologist again today, who gave me a new glasses prescription with astigmatism that corrects this blur.
Avatar f tn There is a ball type feel to it on the outside and the inside of the eyelid has a light shape to it, like a healing sore. Recently I had an eye doctor visit and was told it was a staph infection. I was instructed to apply a hot compress and massage it, putting a drop of Vigamox two times a day for 7 days. It has not seemed to change other than less dryness at night and throughout the day. Any suggestions? .
Avatar f tn I took him to his pediatrician and he ruled out pink eye and an object in his eye. He gave us a prescription for the eye called vigamox, which is a strong antibiotic, and said he had some kind of allergic reaction to something. The swollen eye went down after a day and the redness was slowing disappearing. I also took him to an eye specialist the other day and he ruled out anything serious and said he may simply have allergies.
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me terramycin ointment (4 times daily) and vigamox drops (3 times daily) to treat conjunctivitis in both eyes. However, when applying terramycin ointment for the first two days, my eyes became more uncomfortable (watery, more discharge) and red. Is this is good sigh for healing? or should I stop usage?
