Avatar n tn I have a few questions - Been diagnosed with multiple kidney stones in both kidneys - left side largest is 5 mm. I have a 2.5 cm solid mass in right kidney. I also have constant microscopic hematuria. I have a lot of pain mainly on my left side, alot of time enough to make be bend over . Urologist said can't be from kidney stones since they are still in my kidney. I may have passed something but nothing big enough to see since I have been watching when I urinate and have symptons.
Avatar m tn I have had kidney stones for about 5 years and I have been to the ER and doctors at times due to intense pain that at times cripples me because im not able to move. The doctors say that the stones are about 2mm and will eventually pass but I still have them after 5 years. I was prescribed vicodin for the pain but those have huge side effects on me. I suggest to them about having surgery either laser or the sonar that breaks them up but they say no.
Avatar n tn Vicaden is completely safe. I have kidney stones and I've taken it a lot this pregnancy. I've asked several on docs their opinion . As long as your not popping them like crazy...then the fear u get addicted to it...otherwise its probably fine.
Avatar n tn Last year EWSL was attempted 3X to remove small, stubborn stones in my right kidney. Stones were not blocking the ureter but were causing pain for months. After 3rd attempt at EWSL it was decided to try laser treatment cystoscopically. This was "partially" successful. Some of the stones were removed, some he was not able to reach. I was left with a stint which came out before I made it home from the hospital.
Avatar f tn I took one Vicodin. The kidney stones that I went to the er the other night are hurting so bad right now. I know I shouldn't have but it hurts so bad and I really didn't want to spend another night in the er. Today I had 20 days clean.
Avatar f tn Kidney stones and I can't take it anymore. I went before for them an they gave me Toradol and I'm allergic. But I can't take the pain anymore. I have Vicodin but I will not take that. So I was just wondering of something else will make a difference?
477746 tn?1254784547 I have had 14 kidney stones and 3 surgeries for them. I was given Demerol and Toridol!!!
Avatar f tn I decided that my medical problem (severe kidney stones) was an excuse for my vicodin use. However, I am realizing that I have a problem. I am day 2 clean from vicodin. I am tired, achey, and have major diarrhea. Is it ok to take immodium and ibubrofen to help, or should I be letting my body clease itself? I just got a call from my doctor today and he said that I have 3 more kidney stones that I am going to pass.
Avatar f tn In 2007 I had bilateral stones but in addition to having pain from the stones (which were mid-way to passing but then stopped) I also had pain in my kidneys. I found a urologist in NYC who was developing a somewhat experimental surgery for MSK patients - I can't remember the medical terms but basically he went in, took out the stones that were passing then went into my kidneys, blasted them and scraped my kidneys clean.
452063 tn?1324074916 I have seen at least a dozen posts with kidney stones. There has to be some correlation between opiate use and kidney stones. My surgeon showed me mine on the CT scan and it's a white circle as big as a golfball. He feels it might be from chemicals but said that it's probably from my chemo. I keep thinking that he is gonna pull out a big white opiate that either says Endo or Watson on it lol. Just wondering if anyone else was told theirs was from chemicals?
496208 tn?1271339076 All I know is that kidney stones were THE most painful thing I have ever went through in my life, even worse than labor pains and giving birth. I hope you finally got the stone removed. It's hard to believe something that is so small can bring so much pain. Good luck with getting off the pain meds. and get well soon!
1243347 tn?1268424070 I am a 42 year old male. 8 years ago I had kidney stones that I passed on my own. Recently I had a 4 mm stone with a 3 mm stone sitting on top of that. These were blocking my right kidney which had urine in it. In addition I had several other smaller stones (left & right sides). I was unable to pass any of them on my own so on Tue. I had a ureteroscopy with laser (outpatient). My Urologist said the ureter (not uretha) was perforated.
Avatar f tn I have chronic kidney stones and renal colic in my left kidney, which in its self is full of scar tissue and tech non functioning. I have been on and off pain medication for the last two years. Between several surgeries for my kidney, lungs and my tubes tied for medical reasons. In the time span of three months I had been on Narco 5/500 1-2 tablets every four to six hours as needed. Just this past week I have started healing and trying to get back to normal after 4 surgeries in just 6 weeks.
Avatar f tn he is (as well as his urologist) thinks he will be passing one to three kidney stones he has had living in his kidneys...he is terrified of the pain, but due to his strength and diligence, will not take any pain pills, is it wrong to take when u need them?
Avatar n tn I passed two small kidney stones last week and my doctor gave me a prescription for Vicodin saying that I need to drink lots of fluids (which I always do anyway) and it'll eventually resolve, however popping pain killers isn't addressing the issue! Let me know if anything works for you Thanks!

653562 tn?1224298351 the T3 was still prescribed by my doctor and my OB was looking after me and the baby closely. In April 2008 we found that I had an estimated 10 kidney stones in my right kidney that began to move and caused indescribable pain. I never gained any weight and even lost weight with this pregnancy (my 6th). I was hospitalized several times, on heavy doses of morphine, demerol, and still the T3. Each time I left the hospital, I needed more and more T3 to even touch the pain.
Avatar f tn I pass 'grit' (sand sized particles) almost every time I urinate. What color are the crystals? As for your 3.2mm stone... it's passable, although it's going to be painful. Do you know where in the ureter it's located, or has it passed into your bladder already? If it's in your ureter, drink tons of fluids (not coffee or soda... I find lemonade works best), take your pain-meds and hold onto your hat.
696149 tn?1314320959 I was off of it for nearly 2 years and then went back on it because of kidney stones. I felt better on Vicodin than off, I discovered. The problem is, to keep feeling good, you always have to increase the dosage. That's not good at all for many reasons....the worst is your body will eventually shut down if you keep doing this. Well I did some looking around and found that some doctors were treating people with Suboxone for depression. It has been shown to actually help people.
Avatar n tn My urologist told me he was was able to pulverize my 7 mm stone and all the surroundung stones in my left kidney.. Good news. Throughtout the day I passed a little sand and toward the late evening until now very liitle. I started noticing my pain gradually increase between the pain medication and my pain in my upper kidney area and groin would increase closer to my next due dossage of percocet (7.5)! However, the pain grew stronger around 3am...ouch!!!
12103503 tn?1423448886 t have to take anything. I have been taking them for the last couple weeks because of kidney stones. I was worried as well but the pain is unbearable without it however I feel lucky it happened late in pregnancy so major development is finished as there's always a risk. Just make sure to take it only when absolutely necessary and you should be fine.
7826135 tn?1394734754 So I went to the hospital yesterday because I had server pain in my back. Turns out my right kidney is enlarged. They couldn't give me anything because of my baby. Has anyone gone through this? The pain came back last night, took like 4 Tylenol ex and put a hot towel on my back. It hurts a lot. The ER doctor thinks my placenta is pressing against my uters and causing urine to back up in my kidneys. But he also said it seems like its to early for that to happen because I'm only 17 weeks..
Avatar f tn i recently had a ultra sound scan which showed my kidney was normal however although it looks normal my bloodwork isn,t,so i am seeing a nephrologist on monday if i,m honest i,m praying that my only kidney is packing up because i really can,t take anymore,my husband of 25yrs left me because he couldn,t take anymore of my infections and frequent hospital stays, Many times i have had symptoms like yours and each time i have been told many many times it wasen,t my kidney, i,m afraid that is a load
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, you can get kidney stones that you have pain in the abdomen (or no pain at all). I am one of the very unlucky people who gets kidney stones ALOT. I've had five surgeries with stents put in to remove the stones. My inital problem would be blood in the urine without infection. I've had plenty of stones in the kidney (no pain) but when they travel away from the kidney is when they can cause all kinds of issue.
