My current PM is not the best........he cancels every other appt....he has 4 x's forgot to bring my file with him. Also, once he argued with me that he would have never given me Vicodin ES 2x a day. He finally got his trusted computer and was proven wrong! I do not appreciate the treatment he gives me!
Since Sept I was on one Vicodin ES, then for the past 2 months I got him reluctantly to give me 2 a day. Which by itself still only gives me 4 hrs a day of having no pain.
So I see my doctor today and he says that my drug test showed only Soma in my urine and NO Vicodin. I told him I take the Vicodin every single day. He told me I was a liar and said he knows the truth and the truth was on that paper he was holding. He said I was probably selling them or I gave him someone else's urine (ewww!). I DID NOT!!! He was just mean. He said that paper would hold up in a court of law and it did not matter what I said. But I take my meds as he prescribes them!!
Hydrocodone is the generic form for Vicodin, they are one in the same. Not sure how long it stays in your system. I had to have a drug test for a new job and told them ahead of time that I take hydrocodone, they were fine with it and it did not show up on the test anyway. Sorry but I don't remember how many days I was off of it. I work for doctors and will find out for you.
Something should have remained in your system. As Molly said it will sometimes appear in a Urine Drug Screen as Morphine but it should not in a blood test.
I am sorry that you are in this situation. I know it doesn't help but others have had this happen to them also. It seems to be an unexplainable phenomenon.
Why on earth would they think you are selling? Most likely because there are so many that so sell. I know no body.
the dr. that said i failed his drug test threw papers at me and cursed me ,he started me on opanaer40mgs.in sept08, he did not start me out on a lower dose first.i am worried about withdrawls i have copd and hep.c in remission, should i have ever taken this drug?should he have given me something more than hydrocodone10/500 to come off of this med. i know that i am not susposed to have that much acedimine, what do u suggest i do about this? this hydro.
Most pain management programs have gotten strict, if the rx that is old was in your name you may be ok but its really up to the doctor, running out of meds in the programs here is just as bad as doing illegal drugs. Technically the Vicodin is a variance, its hard to say how your doctor would feel but mine requires me to take my rx & nothing else and have it in my urine when he asks me to take a test b/c with any variance you could loose your medicine. It all depends on your doctor.
I took vicodin off and on for chronic pain through my pregnant. I have weaned off of it, my last one being a half dose about 3 1/2 days ago (I am 38 weeks along) I am wondering will my drug test be clean at the hospital and will the baby's urine drug screen be clean as well? Will you pass your drug test? Well it takes at least 72 hours for the Vicodin to leave your system. It could linger longer but that is the general rule. Others will post will more information and knowledge than I have on the subject.

Could it be he was just trying to trick you to see if you were an Oxy user? I assume this was a urine test. So let me know if it was done right there and if not, ask for a copy of the results since he could now discharge you on grounds you broke any contract they often have you sign. The lowest level they used to be able to detect things like Vicodin (hydrocodone) without spending too much for better tests was 100 PPM. Good luck.

Since you know the real deal I would also advise another test - whether it is a different lab or a different test type - the drug interaction with the liver is what I was talking about in first post - that breakdown and conversion is too often picked up as yet another drug postitive. You know what the real score is. Ask for a test that will settle the doubt. It looks worse if you dont pursue it your self........

I am going to have a csection at 39 weeks pregnant, I am 37 weeks and a couple days now. I have been using Vicodin on and off for chronic pain throughout my pregnant. It was not prescribed. I am ashamed at doing this, and regret it more than I can even say. I am basically weaned off now, I have slowly weaned down and am almost completely off. I will be completely off in a day and a half or so.
Hello Lass,First off is this just routine,or is their some reason of diversion like due you work as a nurse ,and if so,are they checking only you or are you on a Methadone program and all they want to know is there any hydrocodone in yopur system to bebin with,as same not so bright addicts say that they are on this and that and when they run a urine screen,nothing shows up,even the drug that they say is their drug of choice.
I wouldnt think that she"d test positive for vicodin since it leaves your system in 72 hours like usa said.
Also of note - not all urine drug screens test for the same thing - this is usually determined by the cost factor - The more sensitive and comprehensiv ethe test, the more expensive. Darvocet tests positive if they are testing for propoxyphene - not all tests do this. I think I read somewhere that it can potentially test positive for methadone - I would have to look that up again to be sure.
Water is helpful in a general sense but beware!
Or you can call your prescribing physician and get a straight answer.
