Vicodin for sciatica

Common Questions and Answers about Vicodin for sciatica

vicodin

Avatar m tn The only medications that help are methadone and vicodin. I cannot take the methadone for over a week because my breathing is affected, so I have to alternate the two meds. The vicodin stops working after about a week. The doctors have done no tests, but I am scheduled for a MRI of the spine. The last neurologist I saw said that my nerves are fine because I have great reflexes and fell mobility in my leg. I still know that something is wrong. Can anyone help?

Avatar f tn m thinking this may be the final straw that forces my doctor to pull me from work (my sciatica makes my right knee buckle and I'm terrified of falling). Ugh.
Avatar n tn NOW THE DR ORDERED AN MRI OF BACK AND HIP, SHE ORDERED THE VICODIN, NAPROXAN I TO 2 TIMES A DAY, AND PREDNISONE, 6 A DAY FOR 5 DAYS THEN 4 THEN 2 AND ONDOWN ,FOR A TOTAL OF 12 DAYS. PAIN IS STILL THERE, ESPECIALLY WHEN I SIT OR LAY FOR TOO LONG, OR GO FOR A LONG DRIVE. MAYBE ITS A SCIATICA PROBLEM ? OR A PINCHED NERVE? I DO HAVE SPINAL STENOSIS, AND SOME TYPE OF ARTHRITIS. ANYWAY, GOT TO GO TAKE MY MEDICINE WITH SOME FOOD.
Avatar f tn I have recently been prescribed to Robaxin, Vicodin and Gabapentin for back pain/sciatica. Anyone have experience with these meds?
587083 tn?1327120262 Sciatic pain is just the most painful thing. I had it for five years and recently I had a hysterectomy and the pain went away, I had a prolapsed uterus that must have been causing all that pain. Bless her heart....heat helped me, but sometimes the baby doesn't like that heat so you would need to ask doctor.
Avatar m tn u could be a candidate for abuse...aggressive treatment such as chiropractic and massage can often help sciatica more than prescriptions at people...
Avatar n tn ve been on gabapentin(neurontin)1400-1800mg for abt 5 years for sciatica...and other nerve pain. It has been a God send for me allows me to sleep at night without that throbbing pain. gabapentin is an anti-seisure medication, there are others in this catagory that I'v read that are also good.
1307298 tn?1305946851 I am having horrible leg pain that at first I thought was sciatica. This is the first time I've ever had leg pain since I've been dx'ed with MS (Feb 2010). Thinking it was sciatica, I saw my primary care physician who ended up giving me Vicodin -- because double dose Advil was not even making a dent in the pain. The Vicodin worked the first day, but after that it hasn't worked at all. At the time I saw the doc, I was only having trouble with the right leg.
Avatar f tn I know with my first pregnancy I was given vicodin for severe sciatica and back pain, the percocet wasn't given until after birth. I would talk to your Dr., because like Heather said there may be medications that are as effective but less likely to affect your baby. Good luck!

Avatar f tn I do think they are legit injuries but I am just wondering if he takes 3 vicodin a day, not so much for the pain just cuz that is what he takes every day will those 3 pain pills help him when he does have a new pain or will he need to take more on top of his reg dose?
350801 tn?1201924763 Hi All, Wee, I went to see my Doctor yesterday, and se talked about alternatives to the Vicodin. (It was a rough bumpy road for me, but I got off of them, Yay!!!) Anyway, I don't know if you all recall that we had discussed Darvocet a while back, but he told me he wouldn't prescribe it because there are to many side effects. He did give me more Vicodin - 25 a week. And along with that he gave me 2 other meds, Nortriptyline 10mg. and Relefan.
Avatar m tn Does anyone else get hunger cravings after taking Valium or Xanax? I usually get hungry after I take Valium... And it's usually for sweet foods!! I could sit there and eat a whole cheesecake if I wanted to feeling the benzos. I could go the whole day without eating yet pop my Valium and a bit later it's NOM NOM NOM time. Is it just me?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Vicodin for about one year and at first only when I needed it (I have chronic lower back pain and sciatica) but now I have to take it everyday. I am trying to switch jobs and know I have a drug test coming up and even though they are prescribed I don't want the company I am going to be working for to know I take them.
Avatar f tn   First post and desperately need help!  I am on my 10th day of sobriety from Vicodin. I have been taking vicodin for the past 4 years for 2 herniated discs with sciatica, but I found myself in the last year or so becoming a slave to those white little pills and hating what I was becoming. I was up to about 400 mg a day. So I decided to quit 10 days ago. I thankfully had tramadol on hand and surprisingly, all was well, no real withdrawls. Then it happened.
Avatar f tn hi Punkie..........thats a good question and I have the same pain from the buttocks to the hip and radiating to the thigh and down my legs..worse on left side........I have 2 problems and this pain could be caused by either one doctor says one thing the other says different so gets very confusing. 1. it very well could be caused by the bursitis in our hips, although from what I understand that pain should only radiate as far as the thighs and not necessarily down the whole leg. 2.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have seen my doctor about a month ago and have sciatica. For sciatica I am only on Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I am getting pain still and very locked up. I also take Clonazepam and 10 mg Amitriptyline for cyclic vomiting syndrome (or abdominal migraine). I have been on the same dose for 30 years. I read that taking a higher dose than I am on of Amitriptyline can help back pain. Do you recommend that I ask my doctor for a higher dose to try? Do you think it would bring the pain down some?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Norco10/325 for about 5 years now for DJD, and sciatica, i take 3-4 a day sometimes more since i have built up such a tolerance. I went off them CT, tired of them controling my life, today my back feels like its going to break ... by bones ache... just restless.. i am glad i found this site for emotional support.. I have God on my side, i pray i feel better soon, exercise has helped, even when i didnt want to ...
Avatar f tn epidural cortisone steroid shot can often help the sciatica. Not sure if it works for fibro or if it is contarindicated for fibro. A good chiropractor might help...research this carefully...they can help realign your back and hips to relieve the pressure on the nerves.
