Avatar n tn I had a stone that blocked my kidney and even after blasting would not come out without being scooped out. This was in my left kidney. Kidneys were both checked out thoroughly for damage and other stones - neither of which was found. Questions are...Since it has been two months and I haven't passed any stones are they likely to just stay put? If the larger one gets stuck after I have my surgery will they be able to go in and get it out without cutting me or screwing up the TVT?
Avatar m tn I have had kidney stones for about 5 years and I have been to the ER and doctors at times due to intense pain that at times cripples me because im not able to move. The doctors say that the stones are about 2mm and will eventually pass but I still have them after 5 years. I was prescribed vicodin for the pain but those have huge side effects on me. I suggest to them about having surgery either laser or the sonar that breaks them up but they say no.

Avatar n tn I was doing a search online for multiple kidney stones in both kidneys and came across your posting. I'm a 26 year old female with a family history of kidney stones. In Jan 09, I experienced a dull aching pain in my side that lasted for a couple weeks and then went away. I experienced something similar in late Feb 09 and after a week of this pain, I went to the clinic (I'm in the military). The dr couldn't find anything wrong and said I must ahve pulled an abdominal muscle.
Avatar f tn I took one Vicodin. The kidney stones that I went to the er the other night are hurting so bad right now. I know I shouldn't have but it hurts so bad and I really didn't want to spend another night in the er. Today I had 20 days clean.
Avatar f tn Kidney stones and I can't take it anymore. I went before for them an they gave me Toradol and I'm allergic. But I can't take the pain anymore. I have Vicodin but I will not take that. So I was just wondering of something else will make a difference?
Avatar f tn I decided that my medical problem (severe kidney stones) was an excuse for my vicodin use. However, I am realizing that I have a problem. I am day 2 clean from vicodin. I am tired, achey, and have major diarrhea. Is it ok to take immodium and ibubrofen to help, or should I be letting my body clease itself? I just got a call from my doctor today and he said that I have 3 more kidney stones that I am going to pass.
Avatar f tn As to the medullary sponge kidney, I was not aware that it was a painful condition, except for increased episodes of kidney stone that can be extremely painful, but only for a few days at a time. A University Pain Clinic will be able to manage your medication in an appropriate manner and it will never go anywhere. As to coming off 25mcg/hr patch of Fentanyl, once you take off the patch, you will definitely have withdrawals, but not for too long.

Avatar f tn Hyperparathyroidism is the number one cause of kidney stones. Every person with a kidney stone should be tested for a problem with their parathyroid glands. Nearly half of all people with kidney stones have a parathyroid tumor in their neck that must be removed or the kidney stones will return.
452063 tn?1324074916 I have seen at least a dozen posts with kidney stones. There has to be some correlation between opiate use and kidney stones. My surgeon showed me mine on the CT scan and it's a white circle as big as a golfball. He feels it might be from chemicals but said that it's probably from my chemo. I keep thinking that he is gonna pull out a big white opiate that either says Endo or Watson on it lol. Just wondering if anyone else was told theirs was from chemicals?
Avatar f tn I have chronic kidney stones and renal colic in my left kidney, which in its self is full of scar tissue and tech non functioning. I have been on and off pain medication for the last two years. Between several surgeries for my kidney, lungs and my tubes tied for medical reasons. In the time span of three months I had been on Narco 5/500 1-2 tablets every four to six hours as needed. Just this past week I have started healing and trying to get back to normal after 4 surgeries in just 6 weeks.
1243347 tn?1268424070 I am a 42 year old male. 8 years ago I had kidney stones that I passed on my own. Recently I had a 4 mm stone with a 3 mm stone sitting on top of that. These were blocking my right kidney which had urine in it. In addition I had several other smaller stones (left & right sides). I was unable to pass any of them on my own so on Tue. I had a ureteroscopy with laser (outpatient). My Urologist said the ureter (not uretha) was perforated.
Avatar f tn ve been pumped full of dilaudid...been on a morphine pump....and for kidney stones, I still found more relief from a good strong NSAID and a heat pack. But that's not to say he shouldn't take them if he feels he needs them, just - from my experience - I would rather have 800mg ibuprofen, a heatpack, and the liberty to curse without my kids hearing until the stone is passed than a whole bottle of any strength narcotic.
Avatar f tn My question is do any of you see a pain management dr for pain related to kidney stones? Ive gotten stones for the last 18 years but they used to come about anywhere from once or twice a year with one 3 year gap of no stones which was heavenly. Now since novemeber they seem to forming rapidly. Is this any indication that this may continue to be a frequent problem or could this just be a flukish year? My urologist doesn't seem to have any real idea so i was looking for personal experiences.
Avatar n tn These agents aren't known to cause kidney stones. Most kidney stones in the US are caused by our diet which is rich in meat protein. Calcium supplementation does increase the risk of kidney stones. As far as the blood pressure goes, he should probably have his dose of the lisinopril reduced. Alternatively, there are other agents such as calcium channel blockers, beta blockers or Angiotensine receptor blockers that can also be tried. I would probably avoid diuretics at this point.
Avatar f tn They can do Utererscopy or URS on stones still in the kidney... but, kidney stones have to be in the urine collecting part of the kidney, the parenchyma to be removed... other than if stuck in the ureter, bladder, and the junctions from kidney to ureter and the other one. I can't remember all of this. This is an intracorporal procedure... the source to break up the stone is inside the kidney. A utererscope is used with various attachments.

Avatar f tn What type of diet do you recommend for someone with medulla sponge kidney disease? Thank you for your assistance. This discussion is related to spongy kidney.
Avatar n tn I passed two small kidney stones last week and my doctor gave me a prescription for Vicodin saying that I need to drink lots of fluids (which I always do anyway) and it'll eventually resolve, however popping pain killers isn't addressing the issue! Let me know if anything works for you Thanks!
