1634158 tn?1310388133 ive been taking vicodin for 9 months, and i take 20 a day, i need to WD, should i taper because i take so many or CT? i just want my life back and dont want to be a slave to these vicodin anymore, plz can someone tell me how should i start my tapering off??
Avatar n tn suboxone withdrawal is longer than regular opiate withdrawal due to the long half life of the sub....most try to taper down and get off before they become addicted to it...some use it long term to prevent relapse...sub is a good drug i think if used responsibly and if the person is educated on it...some will post who have actual experience with this drug but many taper very slowly like .5 mg or .
Avatar m tn This is a fantastic place to get support, encouragement, and advice. Once you quit, let us know what symptoms you are having and we can recommend different remedies that might ease them a little. You can do this!! Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn Try quitting c/t first.. I believe that will truly show what needs to be done next. In your situation though since you are on such a high dosage it may require a doctors help to get you to stop. They don't ever release confidential information to anyone but yourself, but they may quit prescribing pain meds.. But it would probably be for the best. Try not to get too stressed, I know that work and kids can be quite stressful I deal with the same thing. I find it hard to quit as well.
1511671 tn?1316564203 I am afraid of the pain and wonder if it is going to get unbearable. I have a high threshold for pain but when it is unremitting I get worn out. It's good to know that you responded well to a lower dose of Methadone. It is probably just me. Mellie, I think your correct, that stress from an accident can bring on a flare. I had a couple bad stresses recently and my fibril got a lot worse. I have never done stress well even before fibril. Thanks for the Oxymoron advice.
Avatar n tn from my experience, reducing just gets me back to wanting to do alot to get as high as what everyone likes to experience, I am on my 3rd day right now, waiting as long as i can, and then doing a little bump of a suboxone, excuse my term, however i feel great! my 2nd day did a little piece at 1pm, then today did at about 4pm, I can already tell. I was doing 80-140mg of oxycodone a day everyday for over 10 months. and i just had enough, committed to myself to stop this.
Avatar f tn I guess the high from vicodin. Since I have been taking them for my back I am not certain if this is a high feeling. I can tell you this the drug has certainly changed my personality and my daily routine. I could care less about anything...I lay around all day watching tv and doing my pills. I make myself sick...I used to be on the go all the time running here and there and now I don't want to go anywhere or do anything. People talk about the energy they give you - what energy??
1374564 tn?1295059520 On Tuesday I had the worst migraine I have had in a very long time and I could not get in to see my doctor so I caved and went to my sister for some Vicodin. She gave me two 10/325's of which I took one immediately. While it did alleviate the pain almost immediately, it made me feel queasy, floaty and completely out of control. I hated the sensation! I had constant dry mouth and often was startled awake by my own gagging.
232328 tn?1207090071 I was told by my primary care physician that they always start out with the lowest dosage then gradually increase it to get the desired affect. I hope this makes since, i'm having the same problem, i was prescribed Trazodone, and i'm kind of scared to take it - it's a 50mg tablet, and its the lowest dose but i'm afraid its gonna make me worse you know? If you feel prozac isn't doing its job, please see a doctor right away.
Avatar f tn ll pass, it will suck at first, but your on the right track and everyday will be at least different until they get better, and soon you can be free to enjoy your life again!
Avatar f tn How long have youu been on the vicodin??? Phengran is for nausea but I think it can be addictive if used to long or abused the dosage. Elavil is used for many things from depression, migraine prevention, sleep disorders, to colitis it is not addictive. My concern is that you say you tend to mix several other pain meds like Tramadol which like vicodin is highly addictive and hard to detox from and fiorcet which in some cases has codine in it another opitate like vicodin and tramadol.
653611 tn?1235776013 ive been taking vicodin for a surgury which took place two days ago its a minor surgury so im going back to work tomorrow, i was wondering if i took a vicodin tonight {its about nine pm] will i have a hangover tomorrow when i have to be up for work ay 730 am?
Avatar n tn either way, there is a withdrawal period..but it is do-able..make a plan...get the thomas recipe from the health pages to the right of the screen,,,there is alot of helpful info to read in the health pages...
Avatar f tn It would seem to most of us here anyway, that pain meds increase your pain over time, I think to kind of get you to take more. Yeah, dependence, tolerance...they're real...I think it's deeper than that though if-you-will. It's the same with w/d. You'll have some symptoms of it, without even knowing that's the cause. Here's the bottom-line of what I'm trying so hard to say. I just had an experience of coming off of Tramadol.
Avatar f tn Instead of vicodin, I take vitamins...or an OTC pain medicine like Aleve. Try to get addicted to taking healthy pills (I.e. vitamins) every day. This is just what I'm doing...I'm only on day 4 sober. I haven't had any cravings for the vicodin throught my detox...I even left one next to my head on my nightstand to see how strong I was. As of 5 days ago, I was taking 8 Vicodin a day plus oxycontin, so needless to say, mentally I had that habit of taking pills.
Avatar n tn Lauren, you are having withdrawals sweetie, you don't have the flu, I'm going through the same thing for the 2nd time. Back in 2002 I was taking about 28 loratabs a day and finally in May of 2002 after being addicted for 4 yrs. I decided to quit cold turkey. It was very hard and I had the same symptoms you are experiencing right now. Whenever you've been on a pain medication for a certain period of time and try to ween yourself down to a lower dosage you have withdrawals.
431143 tn?1214479427 5/ just know one you start upping your dosage the need for it is stronger and it is sssooooo much harder to get off. please take that from me.
Avatar m tn that is great that you have decided to get off of them...there are things you can do to help ease through the physical wd's, which are normally done after 4-5 days. after that it is all mental, and you still need support then too. there is a thomas recipe on here that has everything you need to know. get some thermaflu warming cold/flu syrup, the new advanced immodium to help with stomach cramping, and you can take benadryl to get some sleep at night....
Avatar f tn Hey there, great news wanting to quit. I was taking anything I could get..Vicodin/Norco/Percocet.. I was taking 20+ Vicodin a day or about 15 Norco, I rarely got percocet. I went cold turkey, my withdrawals sucked but were manageable. Day 3 is the worst, and you will feel like just taking 1 or 2 to help, DON'T. Make sure you get them out of your house/reach, cut off your avenues of getting them (Dr., Friends, etc.). You will start to feel better about Day 4, but truly by Day 5.
Avatar m tn My pain was so bad that they put me on fentanynil patches for 30 days and I am wondering how they will go trhu with taku=ing my off these patches. I have taken btween 600-700 vicodin and percocets before the patches and want to know the process of ending this.
Avatar f tn m wondering if anyone has any insight or opinion as to whether taking a low dosage of Vicodin over a long period of time could cause Tinnitus to worsen or if Tinnitus is caused more so by a large intake of Vicodin at once? I have never taken more than one 500mg pill in any one day during that time. Also, is Vicodin induced Tinnitus something that can be reversed if the person stops taking this medication? Would greatly appreciate any feedback. Have a great new year's everyone.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone , Can you please help me with this ! I am taking two to three 10/500 Vicodin almost everyday . I average about five times a week or four . My question is should I taper down or just stop all together ? I have been taking Vicodin off and on for about three years for knee and back pain and both are getting better to the point that I think I really don;t need this junk anymore .
Avatar f tn I started on suboxone on May 15. I realize that my experience is relatively short, but I have learned a lot due to my experiences. The first day or two I have terrible problems regulating my dosage and accidentally overdosed, taking three 8mg pill within a 24-hour period. I thought I was dying. Couldn't get hold of my doc and called the company that makes the drug. Talked to two difference counselors and got two completely different answers!
Avatar f tn I have been having no lucky in the past year absorbing my thyroid (synthroid) medication. They now want me to go up on my dosage from 900mcg's to 1,800mcg's, and I heard that is a very lethal amount. My TSH level is over 100 and my T4 level is .3 I think. What about other thyroid medications like Armour or cytomel? Need your opinion!
Avatar n tn yeah adding any kind of high can make us relapse to are old doc. (crack) If Motrin will take care of the pain during the day them get rid of the vicodin not worth the risk.. I wish you well and keep posting you will find a great group here it is good to have support no matter how much time we have.. we are all only one pill away from a relapse..
