vicodin

Avatar n tn I know I am now dependent on vicodin. I felt this way once before after knee surgery, but just tapered off. I also quit smoking cold turkey so I am fairly motivated to go the course. After a second knee surgury this year, I am having trouble getting off the 375 miligarms dose 3 x a day. Stopping for a day results in chills at feet and hands, no sleep, and increased emotional pressure to just pop one. That is especially true at night.
Avatar n tn I posted earlier about some unusual experiences with sub but didn't give any details. My doc recommended me take either 4mg or 8 to start. I was in mild WDs, so I said I'll take 8 to make sure it would get me off those. He agreed, and said if i need more two hours later, take another. Anyway, to make a long story short, I ended up extremely sick the next day.
Avatar f tn I have been taking 5-6 Vicodin, 5-6 Phenergan, 5-6 Vistiril and sometimes 1-2 Elavil every day for more than a year for pain and nausea. I guess I am just confused because I don't feel addicted to them because they help me too much. When i dont take them I am in way too much pain to function. My question is that I am supposed to be having surgery so the pain will stop but will i still feel the need to take all these meds?
Avatar m tn Everyone is different and it depends on a lot of factors such as age, general health, dosage, and length of use. Usually the acute physical detox is over in 3-7 days. Please stick around and keep posting. This is a fantastic place to get support, encouragement, and advice. Once you quit, let us know what symptoms you are having and we can recommend different remedies that might ease them a little. You can do this!! Good luck to you!
Avatar f tn I have been on 750 Vicodin for 16 years….low dosage for lower back and sciatica. I now take 500s - 1 tablet a day (1/2 am and 1/2 pm). I also have been on various anti depressants since I can't remember.
Avatar n tn I know many of you are going to quit cold turkey from vicodin and/or other painkillers. I wanted to share some information. In most states, including California, a hospital CANNOT turn away a patient who seeks care. Although they may try to bill the patient, in the event the patient does not have insurance or funds to pay for treatment, some university hospitals offer a free or sliding scale payment option.
653611 tn?1235776013 ive been taking vicodin for a surgury which took place two days ago its a minor surgury so im going back to work tomorrow, i was wondering if i took a vicodin tonight {its about nine pm] will i have a hangover tomorrow when i have to be up for work ay 730 am?
Avatar m tn The next step up would be vicodin or percoset. Unfortunately they both have acetomenophen, but they are both available with lower doses of acetomenophen. I'm not really sure what else there is in a comparable strength. Those meds are also available with ibuprofen instead of acet, too.
1634158 tn?1310388133 ive been taking vicodin for 9 months, and i take 20 a day, i need to WD, should i taper because i take so many or CT? i just want my life back and dont want to be a slave to these vicodin anymore, plz can someone tell me how should i start my tapering off??
Avatar f tn I didn't realize there were different schedules for pain meds...I have rsd in both hands..I've gone from ultracet to vicodin to my second increase on percocet..Maybe this is why my pm dr is hesitant to up my dosage anymore. I have increased my neurontin increased to 1200mg a day..also on cymbalta and voltaren gel..Thanks for the info....
Avatar n tn It started with vicodin then extra strength vicodin then to norcos then about 4 years ago the oxycontin. I recently have been on the amount I stated for 2 or 3 years. I have been off of all pills for about 2 days now but I feel really extremely weak. I think I might have some liver or kidney damage because I in the past year and a half, have gotten these dark marks under my arm pits. They started red but then lessened.
Avatar m tn My wife has been on 80 to 100 mg 10-325 dosage vicodin for close to 10 years now. Blood tests say her liver is fine (so the doctor says) and she has hep C. She also started taking oxycodone 10 mg 5 times a day about 1 1/2 years ago. We feel she needs to end the vicodin usage asap and up the dosage of the oxycodone. She has been bringing this up to her pain management phys-assistant for 6 to 8 months and she tells her just keep doing what your doing!
Avatar f tn sorry for the lack of info about 6 or 7 vicodin 7.
Avatar f tn t like the way they make me feel and want to stop. Is that a safe dosage for me to just quit or will I need to ween off?
Avatar f tn Going to see a neurologist again in 2 weeks and want to give him the most accurate info I can, without getting a bad label, just want to know about how withdrawals feels to you guys that have had it. When I have the flu I ache all over, this is more a transient severe nerve zing, that makes me scream out. Goes into my arms too. Can't walk when i happens and my legs collapse.
1674921 tn?1304177675 i guess that's a question. the reason why i say that is cuz it's a good idea to give as much info as you can so members can respond and give you better answers. i was told not to take ibuprofen. i take tylenol when i feel lousy. not to exceed 3,000 mg / day. i try to limit it to 2, 600mg a day. 17 weeks into tx. currently und.
Avatar f tn i know that no one is a doctor here, this was the site i used last time to help me through everything..then i messed up and here i go again, im so disappointed in myself. i have been using vicodin for many years now about 7 pills a day, i need to know that i will be ok that im not going to die if i stop cold turkey. how do i stop the shaking. its not to bad yet but i know its going to get worse.
1687929 tn?1319426011 Hi, may I ask what dosage of Topamax were u on...I tried to up my dosage and got worse, now that I am at the lowest dosage I am ok....just wondering if it was the dosage? And by pain r u talking headache's...some have all over pains...so I am asking to what end ur pain is. I am not a fan of meds either, so I understand where u r coming from.
1279189 tn?1275244868 No, with fentanyl on board you will have no withdrawal symptoms from the vicodin. However, it takes two or three days for the fentanyl to reach a steady dosage in your bloodstream, so you may need to overlap with the vicodin a bit as your body gets used to the change. You will not get a "buzz" or as you put it, increased spike in energy from fentanyl that you experience with vicodin.
Avatar n tn For each of these I was prescribed either hydrocodone (vicodin) and tylenol 3. I have terrible reactions to these meds.I feel sick to my stomach, very dizzy, and I usually end up vomiting or having dry heaves (not fun when you have abdominal stitches for a gallbladder extraction.) They didn't help much with the pain either and I decided the pain was preferable to the side effects of the drugs.
Avatar m tn I recently started taking Tramadol for back pain. First my dosage was one 50mg dose every six hours. Then it became two 50mg doses every six hours and now it's two 50mg every 4 hours. I noticed when I increased my dosage to 400mg a day i began to notice involuntary movements of my arms and legs jumping. I started to read about seizures involved with this drug and it scared me ********. I've tampered off them within a week and today is day 2.
Avatar f tn I have chronic pain, I had surgery for severe tennis elbow in 2007, now I have developed arthritis in the same elbow, my ortho doctor has me taking Vicodin 5/500 twice a day, can this become an ddiction?
Avatar n tn I was in a car accident 3 years ago. I didn't want to have back surgery so I've been maintaining the pain by taking one or two vicodin Everything I have read says to stay away from the pain medicine. Does anyone else have any info or have taken the medicine while pregnant?
