Vicodin and early pregnancy

Common Questions and Answers about Vicodin and early pregnancy

vicodin

Avatar f tn I have been taking vicodin, lortab, and percocet (not all at once) throughout my pregnancy with the supervision of my Dr. for a very painful neurological disorder. My Dr's have told me that their only concern is that if we cannot get me off these pills (by weaning) by the time that the baby is born that the baby could face withdrawls.
Avatar f tn I formerly was terribly addicted to vicodin. The suboxone has been wonderful and have not relapsed since starting my treatment. Life is great now! However, I believe I am pregnant...I am 3 days late and am taking a test tonight. I am already concerned about suboxone and my possible unborn child. Does anyone have any information on the drug and the effects on a fetus? Please help! Thank you!
Avatar n tn Vicodin is actually ok to take during pregnancy if you are prescribed them for pain and take the smallest dose. I was in a car accident during the first trimester of my last pregnancy and was prescribed vicodin. Doctor said as long as I took it in moderation and only when needed that it shouldn't do any harm. But like with everything during pregnancy, the best thing to do would be to contact your doctor and see what they think and maybe get an ultrasound to reassure yourself.
483757 tn?1208481255 D and Tramadol) The only thing she will allow me to take is 1/2 to 1 tab of Vicodin 10/500mg a day even though narcotics have NEVER worked for my pain and she knows that- and I hate Vicodin. At every appointment, I tell her that my pain is worsening and unbearable but her only suggestions have been more narcotics and warm water exercise. I have even tried safe essential oils, herbs, vitamins and massage.
Avatar n tn I was sober off everything during the first 3 months of pregnancy. Lately, I have been abusing 1000 mg vicodin and I take about 3 a day. I am in pain, but it has turned into recreational and possibly physical addiction. I also take an occasional xanax as well. Have I hurt any aspect of the baby's development. I feel like I hate myself and I need help. I'm also on 60 mg of prozac a day, which the doctor told me was ok, and he monitors my meds.
Avatar f tn I am 29 weeks pregnant and have been abusing Vicodin off and on for 4 years. I started out taking them for pain at maybe 2-4 a day. Now I'm at 6-8 a day. (HONESLTY) It has come to my attention recently that my baby will be born addicted to this **** if I don't stop now. I know how AWFUL withdrawl is and I'm feeling terribly guilty for putting my little unborn son in harms way. I have been selfish and have convinced myself that taking it throughout my pregnancy would be ok.
Avatar f tn There are other options for pain control during pregnancy that is safer during both pregnancy and breastfeeding - medication called Subutex, but both of your doctors must be familiar with it. You may need to consider looking for a physician who is more familiar with that medication during pregnancy if that is the case. Take good care of yourself.
630344 tn?1280104983 If so does it get better or do you stay in pain for the majority of the pregnancy, I am having headaches that pretty much do not ever go away and my muscles never relax and I was given the ok to take Vicodin for the headaches occasionally, but I do not want to take Vicodin on a daily basis and I need some type of relief. I was getting some relief in the sauna, but I am obviously unable to do this any longer. I cannot take it on a daily basis and I need some type of relief.
Avatar n tn Hi I also took vicodin in my early pregnancy (15-18 weeks) and I had no complications from it. I made sure to call and ask my doc if it was ok to take and she said that there should be no problems (I had a oral procedure done and it was prescribed to me) My son was born healthy with no complications. It sounds like (from your previous premie) that you are just apt to have your children early.
Avatar m tn She will be able to help you with the latest information in terms of safety and contraindications of Vicodin in the first trimester of pregnancy. In some cases, it may be that the benefit of taking Vicodin in the first trimester does outweigh the risks involved with taking Vicodin in the first trimester.
Avatar m tn Oh I forgot to write what pills I take, mostly percosets or vicodin, I've been taking them for over 2 years now and I take up to 7 five milligram vicodin or 5 or 6 five milligram percoset at one time. That is the part that scares me, taking so many at one time. I don't take them all day like I used to, only that one time usually at night. I can't believe that I need to take that many at once to get a high. I never would have thought it would ever have gotten this bad.
Avatar f tn I took viocin when I had a tooth pulled early in my second trimester and my baby was absolutely fine and the doctor that pulled my tooth knew I was pregnant and I even called to double check to make sure it was okay and she said it was fine. Hope your daughter gets some relief.
Avatar n tn Right now, I am going to be tested for irregular levels and can not conceive. I was only on Vicodin for 1 wk and it totally screwed with me. All opiates can make your testoterone and prolactin irregular. Tough the pain out, its not worth it. PLus that sh*t is ddicting and makes you too tired to be active.
Avatar f tn i feel ashamed for taking it during my pregnancy and worry about it everyday. i feel so stupid and powerless and guilty about it. i planned to stop a long time ago but would make excuses and another day, and another month would pass and here i am. In the past couple weeks have cut down to from 2 to 1 a day and now to 1/2 a pill every 24 hours for about 5 days.
Avatar f tn I took morphine percocets fentyal vicodin and nuerontin. I was taken off all that but still on my.psych meds, adderall lithium abilify hydroxyzine and kolonopin my psychiatrist does not want to take me off. how is all this going to affect my baby?
627086 tn?1223182482 I had IUGR, preterm birth, no fluid, extreme leg pain, low weight gain (13lbs due to morning sickness my whole pregnancy) and my son has Down Syndrome, EHK, and a hole in his heart. the heart problem has to due with the downs.
Avatar f tn the basic technique is to space out the pills you take on a consistent manner until you take only one at night, then half at night, than every other night and then none. Your baby will withdraw slowly with you without any problems. If you are able to be off of all the Vicodin by the 20th week of pregnancy, then the newborn's meconium (stool) will be drug free if they should test it.
Avatar m tn You have got to decide whether you want to live or die. My hubby (before he met me) was both a junkie (via needle) and an alcoholic. He went clean and he stayed clean...however he had already wrecked his liver. He eventually had to have a transplant. You don't want that...you really don't. For the moment you don't need liver cleanse or anything like that. You need to get and stay clean. You are at a crossroads right now.....
Avatar m tn i was like 2 weeks pregnant when i took Vicodin. and didnt know i was... well i told my OB/GYN and he said id be ok..im now 9 weeks and everything is fine. besides at that earily of a time i dont think it would affect the baby yet....
Avatar f tn I am off all med except zofran oxycontin and a little vicodin. The pregnany has been going well. I have a significant amount of pain daily, quite a bit of nausea, and my energy is non existant, but the baby is healthy and developing just fine. I have had a little more frequent, and earlier sqreening (especially for gestational diabetes) than the average pregnant woman, but all that matters is that the baby is healthy and we are both safe.
