Venlafaxine weaning

Common Questions and Answers about Venlafaxine weaning

effexor

1110049 tn?1409402144 My doctor is slowly weaning me of Effexor XL 150mg daily. She tells me that the lowest dose of XL is 75mg. She has put me on 37.5mg daily Venlafaxine. I tried this as 150mg dose, and it was not the same at all as Effexor. Is there any alternative. I know Venlafaxine, is supposed to be the same as Effexor, but I don't think it is - at least my body said it was different!! I am now wondering what the next step is for me. What is the difference between Effexor XL and Venlafaxine.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking Venlafaxine almost 1 year ago. My Pharmacist helped me with the "weaning" process, so things were okay for a while. Now here I am, a year later, and I actually feel WORSE than I did back then. The clinic I go to has rotating doctors (I do not have insurance regardless of "the affordable care act"), so it is difficult to relate to a physician every 3-4 months.
Avatar f tn It may take 6 to 8 weeks or longer for you to feel the full benefit of this medication. Continue to take venlafaxine even if you feel well. Do not stop taking venlafaxine without talking to your doctor. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.
Avatar f tn I have been taking effexor for at least 10 years. My doctor started weaning me off it because I was really having memory problems and it wasn't helping for the depression anymore. I am also prescribed 2mg of xanax. The first 2 weeks I started weaning off the effexor (lower dose and new anti depressant), was great. The fogginess in my head went away and I felt like I was part of the living again. But now I am completely off effexor and I am a nervous wreck. I have lost my job and I cry a lot.
Avatar f tn I was able to find some sanity that I could grab ahold of and I began to take notice of meds that I was taking. I began weaning myself off this and that. I found a wonderful Christian family doctor that cared more for his patients than just giving a quick fix. He has helped me thru this journey with withdrawals. I am now down to 150mg of Venlafaxine. However, every time I get lower than that I get very ill. I don't feel like I'm depressed and I really want off this med.
Avatar f tn When I got my last prescription I was given viepax and today was given venlafaxine hydrochloride. I have had low mood since changing even though my GP says that venladaxine is the active ingredient in all of them. Can anyone help?
Avatar f tn my mother (77yrs.of age) has been taking 10mg lexapro for general depression and body aches. Today, the physician said he wanted to give her something that would make her feel more "perky" and changed her script to 150mg Effexor. The instructions are to take 1 pill/day and to stop the lexapro. From my reading it seems that these meds should be weaned.
Avatar f tn So I'm currently taking 75mg venlafaxine and 15mg mirtazapine the mirtazapine is great doing its job for the night time anxiety it's more than enough to calm me and help me sleep the night but my concern is the venlafaxine it's causing me stomach upset and feelings of low mood iv been taking this combo since beginning of December whilst some what it has levelled me out to the state I was currently in I don't feel as tho the venlafaxine is helping anymore as Iv been on it before a

Avatar f tn My doctor put me on Venlafaxine five years ago for hot flashes. I started out at 37.5mg daily and as the hot flashes worsened, the dose was increased. Twelve months ago, I decided I wasn't going to continue chasing the hot flashes with medicine and started weaning off. I decreased from 150mg to 75mg per day with side effects that lasted three weeks. After two months, I decreased to 37.5 mg per day. After two months of that dose, I stopped the drug.
Avatar n tn for the first time since i come off Effexor i feel great... i feel no withdrawal symptoms. this is my 10th day without venlafaxine. i'm full of energy. and i feel great cause i'm beginning to win this battle. my dizziness is gone. that first days anxiety has normalized, I really believe now that it's possible to survive effexor withdrawal. usually depression has an environmental cause. try do find yourse and fight it. the human mind is very powerfull.
1270834 tn?1270769758 I had recently had my son and had started to take Venlafaxine again after a break during pregnancy. I saw my doctor who said it was probably nothing to worry about, in fact I don't think he really believed me. This prompted me to collect some samples to show him the next week. I easily filled a little urine specimen vial with about 50 of these little balls (which considering each motion was laden throughout with them, was an extremely easy task!!
Avatar f tn I have been taking 37 twice a day venlafaxine for a year now and initially felt great however 4 months ago I have been slowly feeling the same as I did before I started taking venlafaxine. I have frequent dizzy spells and get upset every day do I need to increase my dose?
233002 tn?1316027966 I was prescribed venlafaxine recently and it was a nightmare. I was wondering if anyone else has had any experiences with it and other medicines used to combat the depression that seems to come and go with this disease.
Avatar n tn i am on 450 mgs venlafaxine, 150mg quatipine at night and have prn 3x .25 quatipine during the day. venlafaxine isn't working anymore. I have been given 2 options.. option 1. taper very slowly over a very long period of time and take other meds to stablize me, option 2. go back to the psych ward and under supervision come off venlafaxine which then is going to be replaced by another anti dep.
Avatar n tn I got them from abroad and my doctor does not know I am on them. I also take Venlafaxine 75 mg morning and 37.5 mg at night. My question is how do I wean off the diazepam. My tablets cannot be separated as they are in capsule form. I really want to stop them but cannot visit my doctor. Could I just stop taking them? Or take them every other night for a week and then stop? Your advice would be valuable.
Avatar m tn Venlafaxine (effexor) controls depression but does not cure it. It may take 6 to 8 weeks or longer for you to feel the full benefit of this medication. Continue to take venlafaxine even if you feel well. Do not stop taking venlafaxine without talking to your doctor. Your doctor will probably decrease your dose gradually.
Avatar n tn I'm am MS patient on venlafaxine (Effexor) and at least in Europe, there is no generic available, but loads in the States. https://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn This is the first time I have posted a comment/question on here but I often come here to read posts. I was recently put on 150mg of Venlafaxine once daily in combination with 1mg Lorazepam as needed. I am responding quickly to the Venlafaxine ER and have only had a few bumps throughout the day that required half of the 1mg Lorazepam. My problem is sleeping? I'm so worried about the addictive qualities of Lorazepam that I am hesitant to take it to help me sleep.
Avatar f tn Which brand is best when taking venlafaxine? Really struggling at the minute with trying to find the right mes to help my anxiety which then turns into depression sertraline (Zoloft) has made me worst these last 5 weeks of being on it from 50mg to 100mg then 150mg sent me way over had 100mg today and been back to docs he prescribed me 37.
Avatar n tn Trust me, all the name brand antidepressant meds are just as expensive. The active ingredient in Effexor is Venlafaxine, which is avalible in a Generic, but it is not in the XR form. The XR is short for "extended release." Only the Effexor has this time release form of Venlafaxine delivery. I have found this time release form to be much more effective than the generic Venlafaxine which has no such delivery system.
