I have been taking 37 twice a day venlafaxine for a year now and initially felt great however 4 months ago I have been slowly feeling the same as I did before I started taking venlafaxine. I have frequent dizzy spells and get upset every day do I need to increase my dose?

I had been on Venlafaxine for a number of years. First, at 75 mg and then eventually down to 32.5 mg. I consulted my doctor and at my request, decided I would discontinue the medication. She suggested I cut my dosage in half every two days. This did not work as I felt very ill and decided to cut dosage every two-three weeks. Three months later, I am off the medication completely. However, ever since I started decreasing the dosage, my mood and emotions have been unsteady, to stay the least.

I'm on weird mix of viepax 262.5 for the last 2-3 years which breaks down like this: 1 tablet - 75 XR 1 tablet - 150 XR 1 tablet - 37.5 venlafaxine hydrochloride (??) The thing is that in the last months the pharmacy didn't get the 75 XR for some reason so I was given only the other two. Well, I haven't paid much attention to that and I just started cutting the pills "happily".

They usually take at least 6-8 weeks before changes can be noticeable, and sometimes dosage increases are necessary beyond that. If dosage increases are prescribed, then you have to give the med another at least 4-6 weeks again before you assess its efficacy. I always recommend that people give meds at least 2 months before making any changes or decisions. That would be 2 months from the start of the medication, and also 2 months from any dosage increase.

If you feel that your depression is getting worse, or this feeling does not get any better, you should speak to your doctor about maybe increasing your dosage of venlafaxine or possibly trying a new medication. All the best...

d started to experience very frightening and vivid dreams, a couple of days after dropping down to the lower dosage, but nothing much else aside from that. After having not taken the lower dosage for one day, the brain zaps started. Ok, not pleasant, but was prepared for those. Now, a week after having stopped totally, I think I must have experienced vivid dreams, or mild hallucinations during the night, pretty much every night this week.

Hi all, I woke up yesterday morning with numbness all over left side of face and a slight droop. Saw neurologist today who said there was a small palsy there probably brought in by fatigue. He said steriods wouldn't be useful and prescribed me Venlafaxine for the fatigue. Upon reading dosage, instructions etc it looks like it is precribed for anxiety and deepression. Has anyone else been prescribed this for any other reason? I am not depressed or anxious but very fatigued...... Sharon.

I thought all was getting back to a form of normal, however over the last few weeks, feel like slipping back. I have had no break in dose etc, but feel slipping backwards and getting down + don't know why? Can you build up a resiliance to this drug? Or maybe it is a side effect? I think the GP will say up the dosage, but have been good so not sure why this has happenned? Is this common / anyone else gone through this? Thanks Andy.

I've been taking 225mg of generic venlafaxine XR made by Teva USA for several months and never experienced this issue until yesterday and today, when I had a stomach ache and diarrhea with little white balls throughout. Though I still wonder why this has never happened before, I'm relieved to find out that this is a seemingly normal side-effect of venlafaxine XR.

Hi I took citalopram for a while I was referred to a pscyciatrist and he changed my meds to venlafaxine as it helps more with anxiety and I must admit it has helped me. Please don't be nervous of seeing your doctor they are there to help. Do you have agoraphobia if so ask doctor to visit you. Meds could be cause of shakes but you are best to get a doctors opinion.

Hi. I have taken Venlafaxine (Effexor) for the last year. I have reduced from 150mg to 75mg to my current dose of 37.5mg daily. My doctor wants to review my use of this medication. I am worried he is going to advise me to stop taking it. I am feeling much better but think it would be irresponsible to stop this medication. I never want to go back to feeling the anxiety and depression I felt before taking Venlafaxine. Does anyone have any advice?

s instructions seem reasonable or if there should be some type of weaning on/off schedule. It also seems to be a huge difference in dosage- or is that simply because of the nature of the drug itself? Mom is also saying that this is more expensive and I am worried she will just stop taking the Effexor when the time comes to renew. This is a scary thought having read several remarks regarding "coming off'" this med. And no- I am not exactly sure why the doc wants to change meds.

5 I have the morning and a normal tablet (-10%) last thing at night. Not sure if I get a drop on dosage due to the normal release tablet.

She tells me that the lowest dose of XL is 75mg. She has put me on 37.5mg daily Venlafaxine. I tried this as 150mg dose, and it was not the same at all as Effexor. Is there any alternative. So I'm currently taking 75mg venlafaxine and 15mg mirtazapine the mirtazapine is great doing its job for the night time anxiety it's more than enough to calm me and help me sleep the night but my concern is the venlafaxine it's causing me stomach upset and feelings of low mood iv been taking this combo since beginning of December whilst some what it has levelled me out to the state I was currently in I don't feel as tho the venlafaxine is helping anymore as Iv been on it before a
