Venlafaxine for headaches

Common Questions and Answers about Venlafaxine for headaches

effexor

Avatar f tn Effexor is not generally used when anxiety is the primary problem. That's why you should see a psychiatrist, not a regular doc. Effexor targets not only serotonin but also norepinephrine, which is basically adrenaline. This is meant for people whose primary problem is depression. Now, that doesn't mean it never works for anxiety, but ssris or tricyclics would normally be tried first for this problem, not snris.
Avatar f tn Currently came off sertraline after five weeks on it it 2 weeks it took the anxiety edge off things then Bang 3 weeks of hell started venlafaxine 37.5mg Tuesday just gone and upped to 75mg Friday anxiety is sky high this weekend and had loads of crying out burst my anxiety is awful in the mornings after taking a zopiclone for sleep I was just wondering if anyone has had anything like benzodiazepines to help with there venlafaxine start up to get you through the first rough couple of weeks?
Avatar n tn I took venlafaxin for 8 months. Tappered for 2 months and had another 5 to 6 weeks of withdrawal after my last dose. I suspect the length of exposure to venlafaxine may effect the length of the withdrawal.
Avatar f tn Take Cuprofen 400mg tablets for headaches, no problem as quickly hit the spot. Not heard as to whether one should be cautious about painkillers as take mirtzapine & venlafaxine (aka califionia rocket fuel) myself.
Avatar f tn I am 73 years old and have been on anti depressants for 20+ years, and Venlafaxine twice. Once for 5 years, but I was silly and stopped it cold turkey. I was fine after 2 weeks, but depression came back after 1 year. So I went back on it again for 4 years, and as I say, have just withdrawn from it. This time, because I did it really, really slowly, I have been fine. I think your problem is you withdrew too fast.
Avatar m tn Been on Effexor XR for maybe 4yrs and recently rec. venlafaxine instead via mailorder. I assumed Effexor XR must have just gone generic. I have been on venlafaxine for about 3 weeks and just do not feel "right". Very tired- especially around 2-3 pm and started gaining weight again. Originally gained 30lbs until added Wellbutrin 300mg to the Effexor. Also my mind is not as sharp, having more headaches, bloated stomach and crabby.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with depression a year ago. It was after many years of "just not feeling myself". I take 150mg of Venlafaxine daily and have councelling every two weeks. It has made a difference and i do feel I'm getting better, however, I have started to get headaches and feel unwell and down again. Is this part of the healing process or is it me needing to be unwell to be myself.
603543 tn?1255294450 While there is a generic extended release version of venlafaxine available, it is not exactly the same as the brand name (Because of the patent). The headaches you are experiencing may be caused by some of the inert ingredients in the generic brand. Knowing this, I would take the samples back to your Dr. and continue using the brand name since you already know it works for you.
Avatar n tn I was on 150mg Venlafaxine for 5 years and after a withdrawal lasting 10 months have finally stopped. No withdrawal symptoms at all. Once before I stopped cold turkey and the brain zaps and other withdrawals lasted 2 weeks. If you look up 'How Long Does Effexor Withdrawal Last', you will find over 930 replies to that question. Did you lower your dose slowly? I went from 150mg to 10mg over those 10 months so I would not get any withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn Thank you for doing all of this for me. The thought of having to be monitored by EKG kind of freaks me out. (hence the anxiety meds!) I wish you didn't always have to get help for one thing and exchange it for another? What to do...what to do.
Avatar n tn I'm in the middle of withdrawal I've been taking venlafaxine for 12 yrs and I agree with some of u my depression was caused through traumas and the doctor would quite happily prescribe more when I didn't actually need them the past 3 yrs but I've turned a corner in life and made a lot of changes what are good.
Avatar m tn My wife was on Paxil (Alprazolam) for many years before switching to the SNRI Effexor (Venlafaxine) following treatment for breast cancer. It was found that SSRIs interfered with the Tamoxifen that she was taking. Both drugs have serious withdrawal symptoms if stopped for any reason, and it can show up within as little as 24 hours from ceasing the medication. I've seen these symptoms in my wife when she was ill and unable to hold food or her meds down. It is not pleasant.
Avatar f tn So I have been taking venlafaxine (effexor) 150mg for 3 years now and bupropion (wellbutrin) 150mg for 3 months now and I recently had to go to surgery.I had an ovarian cyst that needed to be drained and my appendix taken out in the same operation. Anyways the doctors prescribed me with hydrocodone (vicodin) 5-325TB , ibuprofen 600mg and Doc-q-lace 100mg and I've taking the hydrocodone, ibuprofen, and doc-q-lace only about four times or less since my surgery on Monday (today is Sunday haha).
Avatar f tn Hi all, I woke up yesterday morning with numbness all over left side of face and a slight droop. Saw neurologist today who said there was a small palsy there probably brought in by fatigue. He said steriods wouldn't be useful and prescribed me Venlafaxine for the fatigue. Upon reading dosage, instructions etc it looks like it is precribed for anxiety and deepression. Has anyone else been prescribed this for any other reason? I am not depressed or anxious but very fatigued...... Sharon.
1110049 tn?1409402144 I am now wondering what the next step is for me. What is the difference between Effexor XL and Venlafaxine. How do I reduce from 37.5mg Venlafaxine? My doctor does not know the answer to this. She said it will have to be trial and error. Any comments that will help please?
Avatar n tn hia i am on venlafaxine, i been on it for a while, it normaly helps me, but 4 the last fewweeks i been feeling really good, but now i feel ill all the time and suicidal , and also my nan has got bipolar, i was wondering if it runs in the family?

1270834 tn?1270769758 I've been on venlafaxine for over a year now and have had diarrhea for about 9 days. I noticed the tiny white balls this morning and was certain I had a parasite. Thankfully I came across this post. Side note; I too drink a lot of sports drinks. Peculiar. I think I'll just have some dry toast and imodium and hope for the best.
233002 tn?1316027966 s response to treatment. A med that works for one person may not work for another. It is a trial and error process unfortunately. There is no "magic bullet" when it comes to anti-depressants. Cheers!
Avatar n tn i am on 450 mgs venlafaxine, 150mg quatipine at night and have prn 3x .25 quatipine during the day. venlafaxine isn't working anymore. I have been given 2 options.. option 1. taper very slowly over a very long period of time and take other meds to stablize me, option 2. go back to the psych ward and under supervision come off venlafaxine which then is going to be replaced by another anti dep.
Avatar f tn I have been taking 37 twice a day venlafaxine for a year now and initially felt great however 4 months ago I have been slowly feeling the same as I did before I started taking venlafaxine. I have frequent dizzy spells and get upset every day do I need to increase my dose?
Avatar f tn I stopped taking Venlafaxine almost 1 year ago. My Pharmacist helped me with the "weaning" process, so things were okay for a while. Now here I am, a year later, and I actually feel WORSE than I did back then. The clinic I go to has rotating doctors (I do not have insurance regardless of "the affordable care act"), so it is difficult to relate to a physician every 3-4 months.

Avatar m tn unfortunately antidepressants can take a couple weeks to kick in. For me they started working quickly on some of my worst symptoms and other symptoms improved in time. Try to be patient and be positive that they will help you with each passing day. Try to keep yourself and your mind occupied and going about your normal daily activities and a little at a time you will find yourself getting back to normal. Take care.
Avatar m tn This is the first time I have posted a comment/question on here but I often come here to read posts. I was recently put on 150mg of Venlafaxine once daily in combination with 1mg Lorazepam as needed. I am responding quickly to the Venlafaxine ER and have only had a few bumps throughout the day that required half of the 1mg Lorazepam. My problem is sleeping? I'm so worried about the addictive qualities of Lorazepam that I am hesitant to take it to help me sleep.
