I have test results showing my dopamine level as low along with epinephrine, norepinephrine, glycine and taurine. What do you suggest as far as supplements?

Something interesting happened recently that both illustrates this and makes me think dopamine may have something to do with it. First, let me make it clear that I am not a druggie. I've never taken an illegal, recreational drug in my life, not even pot (and I was in high school in the 1980s!) On a couple of occasions, however, I have taken peyote with Native Americans. Every time I try a medication that has a reuptake effect on norepeneprhine I get this mild burning sensation on the left side of my chest. So far I have had this happen with Atomoxetine, Venlafaxine, Bupropion and now Nortrypytiline. It isn't anxiety, a panic attack or heartburn, just a dull, moderately uncomfortable, burning sensation. I'm fine with all the SSRI's and medications like Rexulti. It's just the ones that affect NE.

I take Efexor 225mg (prolonged release capsules Venlafaxine. I have been on all types of anti-depressants but I still have depression of one degree or another. I also attend for therapy. So I'm currently taking 75mg venlafaxine and 15mg mirtazapine the mirtazapine is great doing its job for the night time anxiety it's more than enough to calm me and help me sleep the night but my concern is the venlafaxine it's causing me stomach upset and feelings of low mood iv been taking this combo since beginning of December whilst some what it has levelled me out to the state I was currently in I don't feel as tho the venlafaxine is helping anymore as Iv been on it before a

This is the first time I have posted a comment/question on here but I often come here to read posts. I was recently put on 150mg of Venlafaxine once daily in combination with 1mg Lorazepam as needed. I am responding quickly to the Venlafaxine ER and have only had a few bumps throughout the day that required half of the 1mg Lorazepam. My problem is sleeping? I'm so worried about the addictive qualities of Lorazepam that I am hesitant to take it to help me sleep.

Trust me, all the name brand antidepressant meds are just as expensive. The active ingredient in Effexor is Venlafaxine, which is avalible in a Generic, but it is not in the XR form. The XR is short for "extended release." Only the Effexor has this time release form of Venlafaxine delivery. I have found this time release form to be much more effective than the generic Venlafaxine which has no such delivery system.
