Avatar f tn Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins. Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That's because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems. Treatment may involve self-care measures or procedures by your doctor to close or remove veins.

Avatar f tn Varicose veins are painful, I would mention it to your doc as they will be able to tell the difference between them and blood clots, I'm nlt sure that blood clots are usually visible, but you are def better to get them checked out. There are treatments for varicose veins in injection form which really hell, but I'm not sure if that could be done while you are pregmant. Your doc will be able to advise best.
Avatar m tn This is often due to faulty valves of the deep veins or due to deep vein thrombosis too. Hence it is important to keep some movement in legs while sitting for a long time to facilitate the movement of blood by muscular contraction. You can wear compression stockings to start with. Upward massage of legs also helps in milking the deep veins. There are various treatment options like sclerosing therapy and stripping. You can consult a vascular specialist. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn A minimally invasive radiological procedure called embolization can, in most cases, correct the problem. Correcting varicose veins in scrotum boosts sperm count, motility. Avatar f tn her sister had severe varicose veins. I never did, but I took a lot ofvitamin E in my health nut days (also never had stretch marks). But I was wondering how much pain, written off as fibro, might be vascular? I would guess that people w/EDS might have varicose veins too. Sometimes I feel like that's where pain is, because it'snot in my joints. My veins are very close to the surface. Anyone?
Avatar n tn This year in May I stopped taking the birth control pills and a couple months later I noticed on my legs bulging varicose veins. The onset seemed to be quite sudden. Could the fact that I stopped taking the birth control pills caused the sudden onset of the varicose veins?
Avatar f tn I'm 9weeks 6days and already have varicose veins any methods of prevention or treatment ps they hurt
Avatar n tn If you already have varicose veins you may have some doubts about taking birth control pills. If your varicose veins are mild and are not a symptom of a more serious condition, your doctor may agree to prescribe a low-dose estrogen pill. In this case it's up to you to decide what your priorities are. You may feel that the advantages of taking the pill outweigh the risk of varicose veins. That said I doubt if taking the pill would stop the problem! Ask the doctor for his/her opinion.
Avatar f tn Hello dear experts , im male 34 years old and i obese 125kg 174cm height , i have swollen varicoses swollen in my legs also in the middle of my knee what should i do pls help
Avatar f tn The treatment will depend on the severity of disease. If you have multiple varicose veins, then the cause could be prolonged standing, faulty valves, family history, blood pressure and cholesterol problems, sedentary life style, congenital malformation of veins, and obesity. If any of the causes which can be controlled are detected then taking care of those causes can reduce the progression of varicose veins. A duplex ultrasound of the vein will need to be carried out.
927365 tn?1245748499 Treatment of leg veins can be performed by injection of sclerosing agents into the veins and external lasers that work specifically for leg veins. In addition, treatment of underlying venous insufficiency of the deep venous system may be appropriate. The use if internal lasers can now be used in place of traditional vein stripping. You need to consult with a vascular surgeon or plastic surgeon in your area with expertise in this area.
Avatar f tn Not to bad yet though but is definitely getting worse. I also have noticed vericose veins in adomen. 2 veins, one coming up each side. They also seem to be growing slowly. I also have very prominent veins in my arms, hands and feet. My legs and feet get very soar when I stand still and I almost always need to put my feet up after walking. I am very healthy, active and not overweight. My mother had vericose veins but nothing to the extent that I do. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
Avatar m tn Varicose veins are in some cases unavoidable. Many times, there are ways to naturally prevent and soothe them. Get plenty of exercise to get your blood circulating, Elevate your legs on pillows daily for 10 minutes or more, Avoid excess weight gain, Dry-brush your legs daily to improve circulation. (This can prevent varicose veins from forming.) Use a natural-bristle brush with a long handle that allows you to reach all parts of your body.
Avatar m tn Varicose veins usually result from failures in valves in veins connecting the superficial veins to the deep system in your legs. This is a mechanical problem. No medicine can restore this function. Horse chestnut extracts have been studied and appear to decrease the swelling due to venous insufficiency but the appearance is unchanged.
Avatar f tn Hello, Varicose veins are veins that have become enlarged and twisted. Varicose veins are common in the superficial veins of the legs, which are subject to high pressure when standing. Besides cosmetic problems, varicose veins are often painful, especially when standing or walking. They are often diagnosed based simply on the appearance of the veins.Confirmatory tests are Doppler ultrasound and angiogram. You can get it confirmed from a vascular surgeon and after getting these tests done.
Avatar n tn There are thought to be several hundred perforating veins on each leg. Approximately 35% of women have defective systems of reticular veins in the outer thighs. This appears to be congenital as you either have it or you don't by the time you are about 20 years old. 155701 tn?1230047101 When I lean against something (like the bathroom vanity), it feels like a big bruise. These are not spider veins or varicose. They look like normal veins except that they're very noticable and only on the upper region of my right thigh. I wouldn't be worried about them except for the fact that they feel like a bruise. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn If kidney, heart and liver problems have been taken care of, then the pain and swelling in the legs could be due to varicose veins with faulty valves of the deep vein causing venous pooling. A dopplar study or angiogram of the blood vessels of the leg should be done. Wearing a hose or stocking specially designed for varicose veins may help. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn The thing that makes it worse in I have suffered with varicose veins in my legs which I have had treated but they seem to be coming back very quickly and I’m sure the dilation of my leg veins is accelerating this. If I am calm and feeling good I get no pain in my legs and feet but if I’m worked up I get pains in the arch of my foot and inside of my ankle below the bone, I also get a sensation in my feet of having things in my shoe mildly pressing in to my foot.
