1958640 tn?1343222499 I had serious varicose veins, mainly running down my ankles to my feet. There was a purplish sack of blood hanging from both of my inner ankles. The skin was beginning to flake and I was apprehensive about developing ulcers. The problem runs in my family. A brother solved the problem with support hose and one of my sisters had vein ligations. My condition was the worst. About two years from when my veins were at their most unsightly the varicosities completely disappeared.
Avatar n tn ve started wearing flats with cushion insoles. I think it might be due to swelling. Are your feet/ankles/legs swollen or tight-feeling?
1907180 tn?1329450777 I am not sure if I have varicose veins or not. I am around 50 lbs overweight and 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. My legs are aching really bad from the knees to my ankles. I do have some small prominent blue bulging veins near the surface, but they have been there for years and never hurt. Can a person have them so deep that you can't see it? I fell last week and have some very deep and large contusions on the front of my right leg. My calves seem to be slightly swollen, but my ankles are normal.
Avatar f tn My mother got them being pregnant with me . I'm her only child ... Almost 20 years later they're still there .. I think it depends on how long u stay on ya feet as well , I've heard that it makes them worst if you're always on your feet.
Avatar f tn I will ask then! I have varicose veins in the leg/foot that is swelling more? I was thinking circulation may be some of the cause? My friend had preeclampsia and that is so frightening to me! Thanks for the info!
Avatar f tn They’re easy to see because they’re superficial veins close to the surface of your skin and typically occur on show up in your legs, feet, ankles and hands. While bulging veins are usually harmless, they can be a sign of a more serious problem like a blood clot." https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/22877-bulging-veins It may actually still be varicose veins which is common in 1 in 3 adults. For most people, a bulging vein is truly harmless. Unsightly, perhaps.
Avatar n tn it will help to regulate the circulation in the ankles and feet. I suffer from this as well I drive 6 hours to visit family.
Avatar f tn thought I should give a little more info. Both of my ankles & feet are swollen and I'm having lower back pain. I'm also extreamly over weight. I'm 5'8 and probably weight 270 lbs. Thank you for your insight into my problem. I have had really bad experiences with Drs. so I'm not looking forward to going and getting the run around.
Avatar f tn I'm asking for a relative who refuses medical help. His feet and ankles are swollen and have an extreme burning and tingling pain to them. His veins are dark and puffy and look like they are clotting together. I have attached a picture and would greatly appreciate any information or tips. It seems to get worse at night after he has been on his feet all day.
Avatar f tn My feet and ankles swell up every couple of days to a week. My sugar is good, blood pressure is great, I'm not pregnant. I also am not sitting or standing for long periods of time. The only sodium in my diet is from canned veggies and fruit. To lower the sodium from this source, I drain and rinse the veggies. Waiting on my blood tests for hormone levels, vitamin levels and other stuff. I also do not drink diet sodas, or use artificial sweeteners.
Avatar f tn My doc recommended getting some compression tights of socks to help with my abundance of varicose veins, especially with my line of work. Any mamas out there have any suggestions for what kind to get and where to purchase them?
Avatar n tn To add to what has be said with non-pitted edema the most common local conditions that cause edema are varicose veins and thrombophlebitis (inflammation of the veins) of the deep veins of the legs. There may be some leg pain with those conditions. You should consult a doctor to rule out any medical condition associated wth body system.
Avatar f tn I have varicose veins and had to get an ultrasound my last pregnancy for blood clots too. Luckily nothing. This time around my leg is swollen but not as painful as my last pregnancy. Good luck to you. I hope they don't find any!
757137 tn?1347196453 Until a few years ago I had a bad case of varicose veins. The inside of each ankle had sacks of purplish stagnant blood that was frightening to look at. The rest of my feet and lower legs had darkened splotches. The skin on my ankles was paper thin and I felt if I scratched I would bleed all over the floor. All I could think of to do was cream my feet. Someone suggested I try Yunan Baiyou (a Chinese preparation that acts like arnica, but which is much more effective).
Avatar n tn Also, venous congestion due to either varicose veins or incompetent valves may also lead to heaviness in legs. Do you have swelling in legs or feet?
368461 tn?1291515587 She had a job where she stood all the time and she refused to wear support hose. The worst part was she also got varicose veins...so I would recommend, if you stand a lot, to wear the unfashionable maternity support hose...
Avatar m tn I've had these brown that appeared a couple of years ago now on my feet and ankles. They appeared out of nowhere and seem to be getting slightly worse as time goes on, they are starting to move up my lower leg now and i get red dots on my legs that look a little like a heat rash.
Avatar f tn This pregnancy i have developed some varicose veins. I have one that is protruding on my left inner calf and is right on top of bad spider vein. It is tender to the touch and i can feel a little discomfort walking up and down stairs. Is this normal or could it actually be a blood clot? It is not warm to the touch just painful and tender.
Avatar f tn Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins. Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That's because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems. Treatment may involve self-care measures or procedures by your doctor to close or remove veins.
Avatar n tn If the condition is local and not systemic the most common local conditions that cause edema are varicose veins and thrombophlebitis (inflammation of the veins) of the deep veins of the legs. These conditions can cause inadequate pumping of the blood by the veins (venous insufficiency). The resulting increased back-pressure in the veins forces fluid stay in the extremities (especially the ankles and feet). The excess fluid then leaks into the interstitial tissue spaces, causing edema.
Avatar m tn The thing that makes it worse in I have suffered with varicose veins in my legs which I have had treated but they seem to be coming back very quickly and I’m sure the dilation of my leg veins is accelerating this. If I am calm and feeling good I get no pain in my legs and feet but if I’m worked up I get pains in the arch of my foot and inside of my ankle below the bone, I also get a sensation in my feet of having things in my shoe mildly pressing in to my foot.
1740512 tn?1310929923 For many years, I have swelling in my lower legs/ankles. It usually occurs after I have been on my feet all day (i.e. at work), and it always happens when I am in the heat for any length of time. Often, the swelling will be pitted along the shin bone and near the ankle bones. It occurs in both legs. I was very overweight for a long time (250 on a 5'4" frame), but about a year ago, I lost most of that weight :) (I am now down to 160 and still working on it).
Avatar f tn I was wearing compression stocking. Didn't help. Lucky my job I have short term disability so I still get paid a percentage of my wage.
483733 tn?1326798446 I have been getting a lot of swelling in my hands, fingers, feet and ankles. My doctor is having a hard time figuring out what is wrong and I am scheduled to see an arthritis specialist in December even though my blood tests are not giving clear indications of that. My husband and I have been trying to lose weight and have cut out the regular red wine drinking we do. My swelling and pain has been better. Tonight I had some red wine and can feel the swelling returning and am so uncomortable.
