Avatar f tn Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins. Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That's because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems. Treatment may involve self-care measures or procedures by your doctor to close or remove veins.
Avatar m tn The thing that makes it worse in I have suffered with varicose veins in my legs which I have had treated but they seem to be coming back very quickly and I’m sure the dilation of my leg veins is accelerating this. If I am calm and feeling good I get no pain in my legs and feet but if I’m worked up I get pains in the arch of my foot and inside of my ankle below the bone, I also get a sensation in my feet of having things in my shoe mildly pressing in to my foot.
Avatar m tn Varicose veins are in some cases unavoidable. Many times, there are ways to naturally prevent and soothe them. Get plenty of exercise to get your blood circulating, Elevate your legs on pillows daily for 10 minutes or more, Avoid excess weight gain, Dry-brush your legs daily to improve circulation. (This can prevent varicose veins from forming.) Use a natural-bristle brush with a long handle that allows you to reach all parts of your body.

1907180 tn?1329450777 I am not sure if I have varicose veins or not. I am around 50 lbs overweight and 6 1/2 weeks pregnant. My legs are aching really bad from the knees to my ankles. I do have some small prominent blue bulging veins near the surface, but they have been there for years and never hurt. Can a person have them so deep that you can't see it? I fell last week and have some very deep and large contusions on the front of my right leg. My calves seem to be slightly swollen, but my ankles are normal.
1958640 tn?1343222499 I had serious varicose veins, mainly running down my ankles to my feet. There was a purplish sack of blood hanging from both of my inner ankles. The skin was beginning to flake and I was apprehensive about developing ulcers. The problem runs in my family. A brother solved the problem with support hose and one of my sisters had vein ligations. My condition was the worst. About two years from when my veins were at their most unsightly the varicosities completely disappeared.

Avatar n tn Yes, you should get it checked out. No, you shouldn't be too worried. Many, many things cause lumps in the body, and most often it isn't worrisome. Your biggest concern would be changes, and it hasn't. So, it could just be a cyst or another varicose vein. Get it checked to make sure it won't interfere with your work and life.
Avatar f tn If kidney, heart and liver problems have been taken care of, then the pain and swelling in the legs could be due to varicose veins with faulty valves of the deep vein causing venous pooling. A dopplar study or angiogram of the blood vessels of the leg should be done. Wearing a hose or stocking specially designed for varicose veins may help. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
757137 tn?1347196453 Until a few years ago I had a bad case of varicose veins. The inside of each ankle had sacks of purplish stagnant blood that was frightening to look at. The rest of my feet and lower legs had darkened splotches. The skin on my ankles was paper thin and I felt if I scratched I would bleed all over the floor. All I could think of to do was cream my feet. Someone suggested I try Yunan Baiyou (a Chinese preparation that acts like arnica, but which is much more effective).
Avatar f tn I thought I had a clot, and that is a sign. Do you have any pain in the bigger leg, or varicose veins that look different?

Avatar m tn Varicose veins usually result from failures in valves in veins connecting the superficial veins to the deep system in your legs. This is a mechanical problem.
