Avatar m tn t think you have varicose veins, because varicose veins are always there, not just when you stand up. And they are blue. I think it is more serious. You might have something else...like some kind of POOLING OF BLOOD in the veins. But I don't know what causes it. Tell your doctor and let him see the photo also.
Avatar m tn I had an extremely serious case of varicose veins. On the inner sie of each ankle was a sack of blackish stagnant blood, a horror to look at. The skin was thinning and close to rupturing. At some point I adding liquid trace minerals to my drinking water, with no purpose in mind other than adding to my general health. I put one tablespoon in each gallon of filtered water. I also added 16 drops of BioSil.
Avatar n tn This year in May I stopped taking the birth control pills and a couple months later I noticed on my legs bulging varicose veins. The onset seemed to be quite sudden. Could the fact that I stopped taking the birth control pills caused the sudden onset of the varicose veins?
Avatar n tn If you already have varicose veins you may have some doubts about taking birth control pills. If your varicose veins are mild and are not a symptom of a more serious condition, your doctor may agree to prescribe a low-dose estrogen pill. In this case it's up to you to decide what your priorities are. You may feel that the advantages of taking the pill outweigh the risk of varicose veins. That said I doubt if taking the pill would stop the problem! Ask the doctor for his/her opinion.
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thank you for the question. We're sorry your wife has this concern. This might be varicose veins which is a fairly common condition and usually simply cosmetic rather than of a health concern. Not always though, but often. Here's some information on it. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/varicose-veins/symptoms-causes/syc-20350643 An important question is if your wife has any pain or discomfort?
Avatar f tn My legs ache all the time and my varicose veins have been hurting. Why are they hurting so early? Is this normal?
Avatar n tn Note that when you have laser treatment it destroys the veins so the blood will go to other veins and the problem will most likely return.
Avatar f tn What causes varicose veins ?and what is the difference between spider veins and the bigger ones ?
9062499 tn?1426957962 Ouch: getting annoyed with these varicose veins. They wont let me stand for more than 10 mins. Any mommies out there who knows how to deal with them? I would really appreciate it.
1138687 tn?1548643978 The vein valves weaken or are damaged causing blood to backflow. If your varicose veins are causing you pain or discomfort, it is best that you have this evaluated by your doctor for proper management. Endothermal ablation, sclerotherapy, and even phlebectomy may be indicated. Compression stockings may also help improve the circulation in the legs. Avoid standing or sitting still for long periods, and take regular breaks throughout the day. Take care and do keep us posted.
11587059 tn?1427628263 The tingling fingers and feet sound like poor blood circulation which is also related to varicose veins I think. (Varicose veins are due to blood not pumping all the way through and backlogging/leaking back into the veins.) Bruised legs also circulatory, sounds like spider veins, which are related to varicose but don't stick out and they spread out more. Itching could be circulatory as well, or puppps or liver issues or allergies or sensitive skin.
Avatar m tn Varicose veins are in some cases unavoidable. Many times, there are ways to naturally prevent and soothe them. Get plenty of exercise to get your blood circulating, Elevate your legs on pillows daily for 10 minutes or more, Avoid excess weight gain, Dry-brush your legs daily to improve circulation. (This can prevent varicose veins from forming.) Use a natural-bristle brush with a long handle that allows you to reach all parts of your body.
Avatar f tn I've dealt with varicose veins with all 3 of my pregnancies. It will get worse as your pregnancy progresses. I wear compression socks all day every day except when I'm sleeping. It helps with the heaviness and pain. They get significantly better after birth. Also if you exercise regularly and don't gain too much that helps keep them in control too.
1580703 tn?1651904887 If you have varicose veins in your legs can you also have them in your head or lungs? what is the best treatment? laser, radio, surgery?
Avatar f tn The doctor said that it's normal during pregnancy. It isn't varicose veins, it's just more blood flowing down there.
Avatar f tn I am a 34 year old female and other than being overweight I am a healthy person. I have spider veins all over which I believe came from rapid weight gain due to PCOS. I was recently told that the pain I've been having in my legs is from varicose veins. I've tried compression stockings, changing my shoes, and leg elevation. Nothing has worked and in fact the compression stockings caused more pain.

1958640 tn?1343222499 Trental improves the ability of red blood cells to get through tiny vessels. It does nothing to help back pressure into veins where the problem is failed valves which allow the flow of blood backwards into dilated veins. Compression helps. Various extracts of horse chesnut have been shown to decrease capillary permeability and lessen the swelling associated with venous stasis disease.
Avatar f tn I work at a vein clinic and varicose veins do dimish but will not completely go away to prevent them you should wear compression hose or socks makes a huge difference
Avatar f tn The treatment will depend on the severity of disease. If you have multiple varicose veins, then the cause could be prolonged standing, faulty valves, family history, blood pressure and cholesterol problems, sedentary life style, congenital malformation of veins, and obesity. If any of the causes which can be controlled are detected then taking care of those causes can reduce the progression of varicose veins. A duplex ultrasound of the vein will need to be carried out.
Avatar f tn I went to see a nurse practitioner and she said the feelings I was having was due to varicose veins. Are there any treatments for varicose veins?
973741 tn?1342342773 How do the injections work for varicose veins? Does it clear up the issue? How long does it take? Does it hurt?
Avatar n tn Facial spider veins in particular were once difficult to treat, but lasers and IPL have made it effortless. Lasers work by targeting the blood in your spider veins. As the veins heat, they break apart and are harmlessly reabsorbed into your body. Laser spider vein removal has become the leading treatment for spider veins because of its versatility and ease with eliminating smaller and medium sized spider veins. ref:http://www.veintreatmentforum.com/vein-conditions.cfm?
757137 tn?1347196453 A few years ago my varicose veins had become so bad that I had a sac of purplish-black blood hanging from each ankle. Very scary to look at. The veins were on the verge of ulcerating. They have since been cured without vein ligations or injections. I started using BioSil (a bioavailable form of silicon). (I also started adding trace minerals to my water, but don't think this was a factor.) After about a year my feet returned to normal. One note: you have to be patient.
Avatar f tn Sclerotherapy is another common treatment for both spider veins and varicose veins. In this procedure with the help of a needle a liquid chemical is injected into the vein. This causes swelling in vein and collapsing .This stops the flow of blood, and the vein turns into scar tissue. This procedure can be done without general anesthesia and does not lead to inference in the daily activities. Laser techniques can help in curing small varicose veins. Discuss these possibilities with your doctor.
Avatar f tn her sister had severe varicose veins. I never did, but I took a lot ofvitamin E in my health nut days (also never had stretch marks). But I was wondering how much pain, written off as fibro, might be vascular? I would guess that people w/EDS might have varicose veins too. Sometimes I feel like that's where pain is, because it'snot in my joints. My veins are very close to the surface. Anyone?
