valtrex

Avatar f tn knee), and in half the patients all the doctor did was make an incision, and in the other half, they did the actual surgery, and the patients who only had the incision actually had a decrease in their pain - because they were convinced that surgery was going to help them, and they believed they had had the surgery.
Avatar f tn herpes and valtrex aren't issues for this type of surgery or anesthesia. It might trigger a recurrence or it might not. No harm in upping your dose a day or two before surgery or even the day or so after surgery. If you need to skip a day too because of the surgery, that's ok too. best of luck!
Avatar m tn As many of you know I had surgery 3 weeks ago and seemed to be doing great the first week after surgery. In the past when I get sunburned or stressed I often times will get a type of herpes on my left ear. Well, I guess the stress from surgery caused it to reappear and my NS sent me to an ear specialist because the herpes/shingles were in my ear canal. Luckily, it did not reach into my ear drum which could cause facial paralysis among other issues.
Avatar f tn I have oral herpes. I need surgery on my wrist. Will having oral herpes pose complications with any surgery? This discussion is related to Herpes of the throat?.
Avatar n tn most folks who do, experience it initially when diagnosed and go on valtrex and are incredibly stressed. for most , it does come back. I do know of less than a handful of folks who experienced hair loss while on valtrex, they could find no other cause for it and even after stopping the valtrex the hair loss did not stop. at this point continue to follow up on this with the dermatologist. they are your best bet.
Avatar m tn acyclovir is 400mg 2x/day every single day. she will still get recurrences while on daily suppressive therapy regardless of if she's on acyclovir or valtrex, you just take acyclovir more often than you do valtrex.
Avatar f tn After I posted this I talked to the hospital doc about my negativ test result. She didnt think Valtrex had interferred with the results. I have had "herpes symptoms" four months, taking Valtrex last four weeks. Maybe I could have a new test taken in a couple of weeks when my system is clear of Valtrex? Just to be on the safe side? Just no it is all too confusing. One doc says: HERPES! The other says: no this is not herpes.
1302779 tn?1287405029 i have generic valtrex but i also have chronic migraine and i feel the valtrex gives me a headache. do u get side effects from valtrex?
Avatar n tn Thanks for the reply. Well if valtrex doesnt affect the results, wouldnt 55days be enough for conclusion? As doctors say 6weeks is quite enough for antihiv tests except cemotherapy patients?
Avatar n tn I had been on 500 mg valtrex 1x daily, and neurontin 600mg 2x a day and amiltriptylene 25mg. once daily as maintanance for my post herpatic pain. They put a climera patch on me out of surgery. by the 4th day I had terrible burning coming out of my throat. I took the patch off. I was doing better untill about the fourth week after my surgery. I felt super fatigued, like I had the flu 10 times over. I was also dealing with a rapid heart rate that had started before the surgery.
Avatar n tn Finally I broke down and in seeking relief on four ocassions and took 2000 mgs of Valtrex and awoke syptom free only to have the symptoms return the following evening. It seemed to help for a short period. Since I had nearly nine months straight without suppressive therapy would it be OK to take the WB now? It has been 26 months since the initial episode. In total I have had at least 11 months without suppressive therapy which includes the first nine months of possible infection.
Avatar m tn If I stop it for a week do I wait to see if symptoms persist? If not begin again, or ask my doctor for an alternative? If so what should I be asking for and are they as effective as Valtrex? Thank you.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Valtrex regularly for 2 months and I have been taking 1 gram of Valtrex steadily for 2 weeks, and it is not going away. Valtrex has always worked quickly when I have had outbreaks in the past. The symptoms of this lesion (itchiness or soreness) come and go. What could be causing this? Could it be something other than herpes? Could the Valtrex be harmful to my baby? I go to the doctor again, soon, but want to be armed with all the inform. I can.
Avatar f tn I recently was diagnosed with Herpes I've yet to go get a blood test done but I was put on Valtrex. I was so scared that I went and bout an Oraquick test I tested negative, two days later I still couldn't get it out of my mind and went and got two more tests while on Valtrex and all three said Negative. I know this question is asked over and over but, are my test conclusive even on Valtrex? My last exposure was 9 months ago if that wasn't clarified?
Avatar n tn Can you advise me what to do, or what to eat to build my self up at that time so I can get through my day. I do take Valtrex, 500mg every day, and when i am feeling weak i take 2 tylenol twice a day.
Avatar n tn s office and it came back negative. I am also on Valtrex for herpes. Can valtrex effect the results, should i retest again?
Avatar f tn ve been taking 500mg of Valtrex every night and plan to do so for the next year to year and a half as suggested by my doctor. I have had no other outbreaks since the first one. My doctor explained to me that taking Valtrex on a regimen would help the virus become dormant. I was wondering what that meant specifically in terms of my likelihood of transmitting the virus to sexual partners with or without condoms.
1713150 tn?1314467342 By the way, my suppressive therapy dose is 500 mg valtrex (the generic of valtrex) 2x daily. So... after the 1st and only outbreak I was taking 1,000 mg 2x daily.
Avatar f tn Thank you Doctor. I started taking valtrex just recently so I don't know about my reaction with condom....And as it is not the allergy to latex..hopefully valtrex will stop any ob during sexual activity with condom.
Avatar f tn I had never heard of the one day dose until now. just went and looked it up and will definitely try that on the day of my infusion and when I have my next outbreak. that is so much more convenient.
Avatar n tn Try stopping the valtrex for a month and see what happens. I myself don't tolerate valtrex - it gives me severe genital pain. Since it's hsv1 genitally it shouldn't be much of an issue. Also go back to the gyn again and get retested for yeast and bacterial infections. It might not have cleared up with the first round of medicine. ohsolucky - topical acyclovir is pretty much worthless for herpes. It's not recommended for genital herpes recurrences.
Avatar m tn HSV-1 is less susceptible to Valtrex and related drugs, so the necessary dose is unknown and might be higher than for HSV-2. Also, asymptomatic shedding is less common with oral HSV-1 than genital HSV-2. Finally, the main strategy for protecting your partner probably should be for him or her to be tested for HSV-1. There is a 50-50 chance of a positive result, in which case s/he is not susceptible and you need take no precautions at all. To the specific questions: 1,3) Answered above.
Avatar f tn its been a yr now and i still am having vaginal burning, vaginal pressure, and pain. the burning comes and goes but the pain and pressure are ongoing. i am on 1gram of valtrex daily. but when i do have a outbreak it gets alot worse alone with the itching, aching, and pain. i have been to my reg gyno, a gyno oncologist which has ruled out cancer cause of the dysplasia caused by the hpv, and an urogynecologist. we are trying to resolve the ongoing pressure and pain.
Avatar f tn Since finding out I've contracted Herpes the area around my vagina has been swollen and I've also had a lot of bleeding which has been like a heavy period and lasted well over a week, nearly 2. I took Valtrex which stopped the bleeding so I assumed it was related to Herpes. But I have just finished a course of Valtrex and am bleeding again. At first I assumed it was my period but it's been heavy bleeding for a good few days now. I am also very itchy.
