Avatar f tn Since the weather has started getting really hot and humid both of my feet and ankles swell really bad, to the point that I have trouble walking. Is this due to reconstructive surgery - they took muscle and tissue from both of my thighs to reconstruct my pelvic area. And do you have advise to help with keep the swelling down. All of 2007 I was in and out of the hospital for cancer treatment. I was diagnosed with stage IV vaginal cancer.
Avatar f tn I had 6 weeks of chemo, 7 weeks of radiation, and in May I had my surgery that consisted of a complete pelvic externation, removal of my rectum and reconstructive surgery of my pelvis and vagina. My question is - along with the obvious pain problems that I still have from my surgery, I have a constant burning pain in both of my upper arms - to the extent that I have trouble raising my arms. My gynecologist said it is probably from nerve damage from the chemo.

Avatar f tn your vagina is supposed to go tighter after you have a baby lol thought you would know that since this is your fourth one.
Avatar n tn If I were you I would discuss this with your Plastic Surgeon as he/she knows all the details of your previous surgery. You might also try posting on the Expert Forum "Reconstructive Surgery" where questions are answered by a Plastic Surgeon.
Avatar n tn In 1994 I had a very evasive type of cancer that took everything from my ovaries to my vagina. I have never had the money or time to get reconstructive surgery done and now with no insurance at all, I am trying to find a doctor that is willing to take this on pro-bono. Thanks for your responce.
Avatar f tn Expander could not be put back in so 1 breast has expander and the other nothing. I will have reconstructive surgery April 2014. I started arimidex December 2013 I have experienced hot flashes which I'm used too. I take a organic bone support supplement. I've been in physical therapy since October 2013 which has helped me tremendously. Now after two months on Arimidex I am experiencing vaginal dryness that is quickly getting worse.
Avatar m tn How can the lopsidedness be corrected before the DIEP-Flap reconstruction, if possible? If not, will the reconstructive surgery correct the lopsidedness? Thank you.
Avatar n tn You can strengthen your muscles by doing Kegle exercises- The aim of Kegel exercises is to improve muscle tone by strengthening the pubococcygeus muscles of the pelvic floor. Kegel is a popular prescribed exercise for pregnant women to prepare the pelvic floor for physiological stresses of the later stages of pregnancy and vaginal childbirth.
Avatar f tn As a rule if blood may be required for any surgery you are asked to donate your own before surgery. Regards .....
524434 tn?1223815549 Arch Miller, and I am a reconstructive surgeon. I am on the reconstructive surgery forum. If the pain you describe is only during chest motion, the it is possible that your sternum is unstable. I would recommend that you get a 3D CT scan and this will give evidence of a fracture, wires breaking and instability. This can be fixed with a device now used in CT surgery called a Talon. Go to the rapidsternalclosure.com web site to see it demonstrated.
Avatar n tn Hello there my name is Bonnie, I was wondering if there was any type of reconstructive surgery for my eyes and if there is what is the name of it. Well I believe that my eye socket is too big for my eyes. My eyes Are a little droopy and well in the end off each eye opposite end from the "Lacrimal Caruncula" there is a big space like my skin was stretched and left a space there in the ends of my eyes (i was born that way) but I was wondering if there was a possible way of fixing that.
Avatar f tn Probably the only your ob or your reconstructive surgon can answer that, funny i was thinking about that just the other day (my friend had a double mastectomy) and is getting married soon (although i don't think she'll have any kids)
Avatar n tn In fact she also does a lot of pelvic reconstructive surgeries and is on a National Board of pelvic reconstructive surgeons. So I feel good about her as far as doing the surgery is concerned. I'm more concerned about whether or not I have to have the surgery based on my actual symptoms. I'm glad the ca 125 came down but it has clouded my decision making.
Avatar n tn I'd ask the reconstructive surgeon in the reconstructive surgery forum. I don't think you'd need to do anything right away, but I'd ask for some opinions from knowledgeable surgeons.
Avatar f tn I have basal cell carcinoma that is infiltrated and has been on my nose for three-plus years now I am scheduled for Mohs surgery on May 9th and reconstructive plastic surgery on the 10th.
Avatar f tn 6 weeks ago I had Mohs surgery to remove a very small basal cell carcinoma(1 1/2 layers) on the side of the bridge of my nose. Reconstructive flap surgery was performed. The area of the flap is red and swollen(seemingly filled with fluid) and along the suture line there are raised bumps. I had disolvable sutures and wonder if the bumps could be from suture knots? I also still have a bruise on my cheek that won"t go away.
Avatar f tn They are not that hard to get well from (your sex with the pain probably hurt more than the recovery from a C), and why invite reconstructive vaginal surgery? It would be no walk in the park to get over the pain from that. I am sorry you have lichen sclerosis and really sorry no doc was able to diagnose it earlier, and delighted for you that you have found a good support group. Apologize for my ignorance, but I thought there were things to do to remove it? Anyway, do not fear a C-section.
Avatar f tn My mother underwent surgery for the removal of meningioma (7 x 9 cm) last April 2008. She is getting better but we are so worried about the wound that isn't healing until now. She was 54 years old when she underwent surgery. The surgeon informed us that due to her age, the wound healing delays. April 2009, the surgeon informed us for a reconstructive surgey but my mother refused as she was afraid of the thought to be put with anesthesia again.
Avatar m tn The only option I know of is to go with the plastic surgeon. Plastic surgeons do both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, so if it's painful it can be considered reconstructive. Talk to the doctor about it, just having a consultation and see if you really want to go through with it. Surgery has it's risks, so make sure it's something you really want to do.. good luck.
Avatar n tn I had reconstructive surgery after a scalp deploying, so my entire scalp has been covered with skin grafts from my thighs.
Avatar f tn This can be fixed. You must seek out a reconstructive orthopedic surgeon. That doctor will get some x-rays and determine if the leg can be straightened with surgery. The problem may be rehabilitation if your muscles are too short on one side.
