Avatar f tn I've been having a foul-smelling vaginal discharge for the past couple of days, along with a horrible rash between my legs (as the result of the discharge). My vagina (and cervix) feels tender, sore...as if it's infected. I can't stand the smell..and I'm afraid to be around anyone because of the odor. What could be causing this?
Avatar n tn Hello, These can be due to bacterial vaginosis or vaginal infections. In bacterial vaginosis, in addition to unpleasant "fishy" vaginal odor, thin white or yellowish discharge from vagina may also be present. Diagnosis can be confirmed after pelvic examination and microscopic examination of the vaginal discharge. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Recently i've been having been having vaginal symptoms including; discharge with an odor it doesn't smell horrible (it kinda smells like old pee), the smell seems to be more noticeable after sex, theres no itching or burning. I've done some research & i think it might be, BV. Which is Bacterial Vaginosis. But i don't have the other symptoms. I don't wanna go to a clinic, because of the embarrassment. Do you think the symptoms will just go away? What should i do??
Avatar m tn Look up vaginal infections on the Internet. A strong odor usually means its bacterial, otherwise known as bacterial vaginosis (BV). You'll find treatment options there. It's worth learning about because you'll probably encounter it again even if you get cleared of this infection. Good luck.
Avatar f tn What type of anitbiotic is good for a bacterial vaginal infection? I have had greenish discharge and recurrent yeast infections for about 9 mos.
Avatar f tn I've been having problems with my body since the end of June. I was first diagnosed with a yeast infection.. took medication and it wouldnt go away. Then two weeks ago I went and got a pap smear and was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis. I've taken my 7 day antibiotics and nothing has cleared up.. I think it has gotten worse. I've been having cramps, frequent urination, cloudy dark yellow urine. Why is it taking me this long to get better? What else do I have to do?
Avatar f tn Hello, It could have been bacterial vaginosis. Bacterial vaginosis is the most common cause of abnormal vaginal odor and discharge. It is caused by a change in the type of bacteria found in the vagina. The exact cause for the change in type of bacteria is still not known, but it is can be due to IUD’s,multiple sex partners or having intercourse with a new partner. In addition to unpleasant "fishy" vaginal odor, thin white or yellowish discharge from vagina may also be present.
Avatar f tn I have also noticed that my symptoms have gotten worse over a day or so...The area where my outer labia and vulva meet are irritated in that they are slightly itchy and sting..The burning has continued around the vaginal opening and the urethra. Where I noticed the inflammation yesterday around the vaginal opening is actually called the Bartholin glands, and while they are not swelling they are red and what's burning.
Avatar f tn It might be bacterial vaginosis, but since you have had sex with another person, you should get this checked out.
Avatar f tn doctor told me that i have bacterial vaginosis. i took flagyl tablets (2 times a day of 400g each) for a week and used betadine vaginal douche for 10 days. after this treatment, the pain vanished but after a week, i started feeling the pain again. Smell and colour of mucus is normal as it was before. the only symptoms i have is the lower abdominal pain. What do you suggest me to do? take the treatment again? if so, do you think that i will get rid of this BV?

Avatar n tn My partner has had a vaginal discharge for more that a month. Her doctor did a bv panel which came back normal for trich, gardnerella, and candida. The discharge is a yellow greenish color. Could a discharge lasting this long be a symptom of herpes?
Avatar f tn my discharge has been mucous-like and white (sometimes clear). at first I was itching like crazy...but now I don't itch much at all. Sometimes, i have an odor. tried douching with ACV (apple cider vinegar), but that only worked for a day.. i'm thinking it's either a yeast infection or BV (bacterial vaginosis). i haven't had sexual relations in over a month because of this problem. what could it be?
Avatar f tn Diagnosis can be confirmed after pelvic examination and microscopic examination of the vaginal discharge. Treatment is by metronidazole and clindamycin. Please do not use any vaginal douches. Although bacterial vaginosis is not a serious disorder but it has been associated with the development of pelvic inflammatory disease and other infections. So get yourself examined by a gynecologist and start with the treatment.
4032497 tn?1363221695 Other causes of white discharge are yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis. If it is yeast infection causing discharge treat it with antifungal medications which may be inserted into the vagina in cream or gel form. Bacterial vaginosis is treated with antibiotic pills or creams. Trichomoniasis is usually treated with the drug metronidazole.See a doctor for examination and diagnosis. Keep me posted. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn Hello, Yellowish discharge is due to bacterial vaginosis or trichomoniasis. Bacterial vaginosis is the most common cause of abnormal vaginal odor and discharge. Avatar f tn To my knowledge this is the only infection that causes green discharge. Bacterial vaginosis causes a fishy smelling white discharge, a yeast infection causes a thick clumpy white discharge. you need to see a doctor as soon as possible and get antibiotics.
1560663 tn?1298046527 Bacterial vaginosis is a vaginal infection that usually causes a foul odor, but that is not always the case. Doctors usually prescribe a gel or pills. Discharge associated with bv is usaully grey, off white, or it can be yellowish. Most websites says there is not pain or irritation associated with bv, but many women will tell you they have burning/stinging with urination.
Avatar f tn So my doctor calls today to tell me I have bacterial vaginosis...tells me that it can cause preterm labor..so im like okay. She says the antibiotic thet can treat it is called flagisil ( or somthin like that) well I find out that BV can also cause miscarriage. Now im freakin out because thay said I cant take the antibiotic until my second tri.because its bad for the baby in the first trimester.
Avatar n tn Hi! If you were my patient, I would test you for STIs and also for yeast and bacterial vaginosis. Often physiologic or "normal" discharge is whitish and increases in amount and gets "thicker" right before the period--so you may be just having "normal" discharge. I would go by what the tests showed, but would guess that it is nothing too serious. Good luck!
Avatar m tn If you cannot see a doctor, Vagisil makes an over the counter screening kit which can indicate if you have a yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, or something more serious such as an STD in which you would need to see a doctor for. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn I have recurring infections that I think are yeast. I have symptoms of yeast & Bacterial Vaginosis. I always have a lot of discharge, always have. But I seem to get a lot of irritation and redness in my vaginal area (and swelling after sex). My right labia has swollen significantly in the past and been sore, it felt like I had a blood vessel to burst (this was after sex) My discharge never has an odor (which would suggest BV, right?

I have this weird vaginal discharge that is like watery type but if you touch it its actually a little bit sticky and what bothers me most is that it smells like puss. Avatar f tn Hello, If you had your periods, then chances of pregnancy are less. It can be due to normal vaginal discharge or bacterial vaginosis but it is important to rule out other possibilities like infections causing vaginitis or cervicitis as well. In bacterial vaginosis, in addition to unpleasant "fishy" vaginal odor, thin white or yellowish discharge from vagina may also be present. Diagnosis can be confirmed after pelvic examination and microscopic examination of the vaginal discharge.
Avatar f tn This is going to seem odd but what should normal vaginal discharge look like? I was treated for bacterial vaginosis but it came back and I was treated again. But I don't know if it's back yet again. I was treated twice and don't want to have to do it again the pills make me Ill. But anyways, the discharge I have is milky white discharge. No odor. But lotsof it. I can push it out onto my fingers. I am 40 days late for my period but blood work and ultra sounds say no to pregnancy.
