Has anyone anything good to say about Vagifem [Estradiol hemihydrate]. I have used it for only a week and have had bad headaches, plus terrible pains in my womb. Also pins and needles down my left arm, and even my teeth are feeling very sensitive. I can't believe this is doing me any good. All replies will be welcome.
i had a total hystrectomy in 1995 and quit hormones 8 yeasr ago its been rough,back in july dr stated me on menest but then i went to another dr and she did blood hormones and as of 2 weeks ago i was put on estradiol 1 mg was already on vagifem she just added 0.25 mg of divigel 3 days ago and now my breats are so sore and bad headache..
When Vagifem or Estrace is prescribed for a post menopausal woman with a uterus, should a progestin always be prescribed as well? I've been taking Vagifem for 2 years without a progestin, and now I have to undergo an endometrial biopsy because of some buildup of the lining of my uterus (I have no bleeding....it showed up on an TV ultrasound...small changes and endometrial thickness of 5mm).
been on different antibotics was tols it was clear but i still have burning,now im on estradiol 1 mg and prometrium 100 mg i have no uterus and she ordered me testotestorone from a compounding pharmcay..
I have recently been started on Vagifem and in the last 3 days have had copiou amounts of greenish watery vaginal discharge. Should I be concerned it is very annoying.
Within the last year and a half I have been seeking treatment for horrible burning inside and out of the vaginal area. My doctor has done many tests and has said that I have vaginal atrophy (sp) and told me to use replens. She also recommended Prempro as I still have a uterus. I no longer have health insurance and can't afford the prempro and the replens DOESN"T work. This situation has made me very anxious and I am on Xanax and Cymbalta. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!
I am allowed to use Femoston conti 0.5/2.5 (estrogen/progesterone) one pill per day and local treatment with Vagifem 1-2 times per week. I have purchased Vagisan moisturising cream and I think that it could help.
I have hypothyroidism (treated with Thyroid Erfa) and hyperparathyroidism (hypercalcemia) and other diseases. I am taking vitamin D, Marevan (coumadin), atenolol, sometimes selenium, vitamins B, lactic acid bacteria, and magnesium.
Maybe my thyroid medication is too low.

I was having really bad flashes prior to treatment. During treatment they stopped completely for a while and then came back near the end of treatment. But they were not nearly as severe and they didn't happen as often. Now they are back in full.
I'll ask my nurse about Estrace cream. I just looked at their patient information sheet and it says women who have or had liver problems should not use it. I'll check anyway cause I'm kind of desperate.

m 34 and after a recent visit to a gyno she prescribed me vagifem suppositories and betnovate cream. I am not menopausol or anything. I've just had gyno issues in past few months of a burning sensation inside my vagina and sometimes outside too. It is very uncomfortable at times. She prescribed me vagifem and betnovate to use for 3 months consistently before I go back to her. I'm worried after reading on internet about cancer being linked to it and so on.
I'm a 59 year old post menopausal woman who recently had my 4th follow-up transvaginal ultrasound because of a small ovarian cyst. The cyst is still there (but quite small), however, my latest ultrasound has caused my doctor to schedule an endometrial biopsy for me. Your tissues are so dry that they cut and bleed with any friction. Luckily, there is a remedy. A vaginal estrogen pill (Vagifem) or cream (Premarin) can be inserted into the vagina on a regular basis and it will help rebuild the tissue and prevent this type of dryness. I personally prefer Vagifem because it is less messy and each comes in its own applicator. You will still need to use something like Astroglide duirng intercourse to have even better results.
The doctor now thinks it is vaginal atrophy, and I have been given vagifem tablets. Every day for 2 weeks, followed by twice a week. I still have the vaginal discharge , except it is no longer yellowish green, it is white or clear or slightly yellowish.
Here's my question.. Has any one else had this symptom from vaginal atrophy? What works to make this go away?
Has anyone else suffered the dreaded Vaginal Atrophy. Have been prescribed Vagifem which is helping a little. Main problem for me is burning after urination. Don't like using the prescribed betnovate cream too often as this burns. Now trying the yes products. Some days I seem much better and then the next day it returns with avengeance. Sitting at School working with children is not ideal and aggravates it even more.
What I want to know is how long before the surgery should we use the estrogen (I have both vagifem and estrace cream)? I had a hysterectomy, total and done vaginally, in Oct 2009, then bladder fell 2 months after, had the cystocele repaired and then around 6 weeks later the rectum and top of vaginal vault fell. I have had a pessary in for around a year to hold it but it is getting so hard to have a BM. I want this rectocele repair to be the last surgery!
so ffast forward now im on compounded test cream.vivelle patch,vagifem,promitrium every other day...i was trying the creams....well i would say in sept when dr first tried me on estradiol pills 1 mg and the promitium my breasts have been sore...she has treid estratest made my heart race to much..a higher dose of estrogen...my sex drive was coming back and now its going..
I am a postmenopausal woman (65 y). I stopped estrogen treatment in January 2013 but have sometimes used local estrogen and lactic acid. I have had problems with my urinary opening, vaginal atrium and vagina. My distal urethra has been swollen, sore and smarting. On May 7, 2013, I found a "sand" grain betveen my labia. It vas brownish, with innumeral vacuoles and some regular structures, not exactly like microvilli.
It was not until after my surgery (Not saying the surgery corrected it, in fact, it had the potential to make things worse) I got relief because by then I was on a steady stream of Estradiol (by way of the Vivelle patch.. a bioidentical hormone... estradiol is reputed by many to be the premier estrogen and personally I won't use anything else for estrogen replacement). I also use testosterone, which will also keep that area supple.
