Common Questions and Answers about Urine test wbc

Avatar n tn Well, an ENT infection cannot increase the urine WBC. It can result in high WBC in blood though. I am not sure why the urine test was done. You had some symptoms? A high WBC in urine and no culture can happen if the UTI is caused by an organism that does not show growth on normal cultures. Certain special cultures are set up for them. Your urologist can help you with this. In case you have no symptoms, then there is a possibility of error in the report. Maybe you should get a repeat test done.
Avatar f tn My urine test results show leukocyte esterase 2+ wbc 21-50/HPF RBC 3-5/HPF epithelial cells few bacteria 1+ also 50-100.000 CFU/ML mixed urogenital flora.
Avatar n tn Stress could be contributing somewhat to your problems but you still have a (non STD) abnormality in your urine test. If you repeat the urine test and the abnormality is no longer present, I would not worry further but if it is still there, as I said, you and your doctor may wish to address it. Hope this helps. This is not HIV or an STD.
Avatar m tn I only had someone perform oral sex on me--and then met a new partner--before that I was tested for ALL and was neg---she recently got a slight fever and since she works for a hospital the DR ran test on her with a DIPSTICK--this showed she had blood in urine and WBC count as well.
Avatar f tn I had recent oral sex exposure (I'm a male) with stripper. I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???
Avatar m tn It would be helpful to know something about your sexual risks for STD, which would be a better basis than WBC in your urine to judge the likelihood you have gonorrhea or chlamydia, such as new sexual partnership, multiple partners, whether your partner(s) have sex with other persons, etc. Also your age. Depending on these factors, your risk might be low enough that you can rely on the urine/WBC result without other testing.
143123 tn?1274300825 m having some testing done. This morning I gave a urine sample and it came back +2 on WBC in urine. The nurse gave me a prescription for antibiotics and said it's probably the beginnings of a UTI, to start the antibiotics and they will culture the urine and see what it is. Should I be worried that it is something worse than a UTI? I usually can feel a UTI coming on and I don't have any of those feelings. 2006 was the last time I had a UTI.
Avatar f tn Yes, a urine quick test can tell you if you have WBC, but not if you have gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU or another infection that could be causing that. You need specific tests for that. If you have concerns about those, you need to let the doctor know so they can do specific tests.
Avatar m tn You can have infection that does not show on the standard test of nitrites but with the number of epithelial cells /hpf 5- it is most likely not a clean catch, mid stream urine. I would suggest you redo the urine test and be very careful, it is hard to get a good "sterile" or as sterile as possible urine sample. More importantly then the UA is the symptoms your experiencing that go along with a the WBC. That will tell the doctro more about your clinical situation.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me UTI is not a symptom of HIV infection and mostly are bacterial infection.
Avatar m tn Hi Dr Following my last 2 threads, I took tests on day 124 after 1st exposure and day 76 after 2nd exp: CBC normal but WBC hi 9800 & RBC hi 6.16–Urine RBC 2-4 & WBC 8-10 (possible kidney) –SGOT/AST & SGPT/ALT normal–Gamma GT normal–CR Protein normal – Syphilis nega–CMV negative – Chlamidya nega– EBVac anti VCG IgM 0.7 (borderline of 0.8)–Ac anti VCA (IgG) 2.7 above the 0.8–Ac anti HSV IgM normal–HSV 1+2 IgG is 4.6 above 0.8 HIV test: the Dr.
Avatar m tn You mentioned you've done urine test, but no WBC; was there urine culture test done? If there culture is negative, then bacterial infection may possibly be negative, although some atypical bacteria are known to be fastidious (hard to culture) It is generally said that the more partner you have, the higher the chance one can "accumulate" HPVs.
Avatar f tn Can certain drugs impact a WBC urine test? I have urethra pain though no discharge. Test results were negative for chlamydia and gonnorrhea, and WBC was 12/uL which the doctor said was in normal range.
Avatar f tn Is my urine STD test on day 28(21 days since last dose of doxy) conclusive despite having WBC in urine? Is it true that my symptoms are related to CPPS? No discharge nor burning urination till date.
Avatar n tn I have been off work for 8 weeks now, first went to the doctors with lower back pain and fatigue, he did blood tests and my WBC came back slightly raised, had my WBC retested after two weeks and it had raised further and another test two weeks later is had raised again. Tested a urine sample which showed blood +++ but no infection or protein, had a scan on kidneys and bladder and a cystoscopy which were all fine except cysts on my kidneys which i was told were nothing to worry about.
Avatar f tn The number of WBC in urine between 0 and 5 makes no difference of any kind. Any number of WBCs in that range is normal. I'm not sure how to interpret the discrepancy in your HSV-2 test results. LabCorp does the HSV-2 Captia test (manufactured by Trinity Biotech). The HerpeSelect test, done by Quest, has been more intensively studied than Captia, and that result of 1.12 suggests that most likely you don't have HSV-2.
Avatar f tn Hi Maya, I recently had a routine urine test and they found blood in my urine not visible to the naked eye. I have what is called" microhematuria" This means I have too many red blood cells in my urine which can mean several thing's. I am scheduled for a CT Scan and then off to a urologist. I don't have pain but some people do. I suggest you look up microhematuria so you will understand what that means, that's what I did.
Avatar m tn Around two months ago I started seeing a nephrologist to see if the blood is coming from the kidneys, and around the same time my UA test started showing protein in my urine. Bellow are the results of my last UA and a 24hr urine protein. With this results, Is the protein in my urine secondary to the gross hematuria or am I having protein in my urine because some how my kidneys are not working right??? Any help will be really appreciated.
Avatar m tn My understanding had been that since the act was protected at all times STD testing was not required in your opinion is that true? Even with the WBC in the urine test? I just started freaking out that I have been carrying something for a year and been asymptomatic.
Avatar m tn Diabetes can be very difficult and may be the problem behind infections, how is you blood test results, especially white blood cells? If the WBC count is low you will likely not be as resistant to health problems as one with normal WBC counts...these are the cells that fight infections and disease.
