Avatar m tn Why is it the test strip shows blood in my urine but the lab test comes negative ? Will the lab test fail to detect the ailments you suspected above?
Avatar m tn Unprotected oral second void, maybe 1/2 ounce wasted then in the cup NAAT,, male is this an accurate test? Potential prostate swollen and frequent urination?
Avatar n tn I again bought urine strips that detect blood only, and the strips shows non-hemolyzed trace only after drinking beer or coffee. If I drink a glass of water with a tsp of baking soda, the test strips come out negative. I guess my question is "is it harmful to drink a glass of baking soda water daily?", or should I return to the doctor and go thru kidney x-rays, cystoscopy, etc again? I really hate to give up my coffe ...
Avatar n tn here there are three rapid strips determine, stat pak and unigold rapid test strips so the determine test strip for 2 years has been reacting the rest of the strips which are taken to be confirmatory test strips never react. If you read the original post you will get the whole history. So someone told me its highly sensitive to any viral infection but then again I asked whats that infection. No answer was given. My CBC results are all in range showing no presence of a virus.
Avatar n tn But if you really did have something wrong like a gallstone or other bile blockage, then the urine test will remain constant in showing the problem on repeated tests. If you didn't have the strip stored properly, the testing chemicals on the strip will become compromised/contaminated and will give you the crazy results. Be sure your test strips are stored in a small, airtight container. And that you use a clean urine collection cup as well.
Avatar f tn So I was put on antibiotics by my family dr who also gave me a urine test in a lab which came back positive. He then referred me to a specialist. The specialist gave me ct scan and an ultrasound to which both came back normal. The specialist doesn't think the strip method is giving the right diagnosis and he's telling me I should come off the antibiotics and wait until I have symptoms of a TRUE bladder infection. Not sure what my family dr will say to this.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 25 year old male, had a qyestion regarding a lab test result which I got earlier this year (doctor nor I thought anything of it, questioning it now as people have mentioned this to me recently). To sum up, I had a physical done which included a random blood sugar test (to be honest, think I either took the test in the morning/didnt eat yet or had MAYBE a small snack at the most). Regardless, my random blood sugar a little while back was a 79...well within the normal test limit.
Avatar f tn I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???
Avatar n tn The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
Avatar m tn ya i ate the usual heavy lunch really rich in carb(wheat flour bread.,fried potatoes refined oil to name a few )....and the testing was not done at home but went to a lab where my blood and urine checked for sugar.....blood 104 and urine -NIL result.
Avatar n tn When they test for M'done in urine (at least on a clinic) they test for it's metabolite (called EDDP for short) & it's ratio to creatinine levels, There is a drug called Bentyl (Dicycloverine) prescribed for IBS that can potentially cause a false positive. There may be others too. It also depends on how good the lab is that is doing the testing. Sometimes there's sloppy work or cross-contamination, particularly in the 'collection' phase. I'd request a retest.
Avatar f tn It honestly can come and go and you can actually test for BLD yourself with the diagnostic test strips "GP Mulistix" by either bayer or siemens (25 tests in one tube) along with nitrates and leucocytes, protein etc Theres no restrictions on the public buying these - though they are not super cheap (£10- £14 as a guide in the UK as a guide for 25) Mild Kidney infections can show a trace of blood - see if this is a "one off" then if it contines daily take action according to wh
Avatar f tn Yes, a urine quick test can tell you if you have WBC, but not if you have gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU or another infection that could be causing that. You need specific tests for that. If you have concerns about those, you need to let the doctor know so they can do specific tests.
Avatar f tn They did not send the urine to a lab. I do not have an infection as the urine strips test for leukocytes (which are fighting infection cells)..
1627185 tn?1328298151 Here is what i've learned. If they use the urine test strips, the sensitivity could be more or less than that of a blood test. It also depends on whether or not it's a quantative or qualitative blood test. Some women have had positive urine tests and negative blood tests or vice versa.
Avatar n tn I frequently use urine test strips to test my urine when I feel unwell that may be waterwork problem. Have had kidney stone surgically removed in the past. Nitrite on the stick will mean that it is a bladder problem - usually Cystitis. Positive leucocyte reading on the stick with or without signs of protein, usually means that there is a bacterial infection. If the doctor said you have a uti (urinary tract infection) this is anywhere from the kidneys down.
Avatar m tn Maybe see if there is a location there near you or speak with your doctor and tell him you understand he needs a screening but you cannot afford it - call around with the cpt code the doctor will use for the test and see if you can find your own lab that will do it cheaper. He should do it if you agree to go straight to the lab when they require a test.
Avatar f tn Hi! I have used Clinical Guard ovulation strips, and they work. But I just discovered some called BFP, they make ovulation & pregnancy test strips, and they are super accurate and easy to read. They're my new "go-to" brand. I buy off of Amazon. Good luck! & lots of baby dust!
Avatar f tn Oh okay and you know what in California they don't do the test strips no more well atleast there not suppose to because my doc said there not 100 percent accurate they pick up diff body juices too that's why they swipe your cervix now and take it to the lab.
Avatar f tn You can also purchase urine PH strips over the counter at a local pharmacy and check the PH yourself. Diet plays a major role in Urine PH as well. What do you feed? If your dog had a culture and sensitivity run on her urine, that would tell you the exact bacteria responsible and give you the best antibiotic to eliminate it. Conformation of a dogs vulvar area can also be a factor.
Avatar n tn Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. Ive had a urine test and it was ok so Im just curious, as it was clear is that it? am I clear for diabetes? thanks.
Avatar f tn I went to my OB today for my monthly check, I'm 6mo right now, and she said there was a bit of blood in my urine. She didn't seem too worried. She said she'd send it to the lab to make sure its not a UTI. I told her I had some slight cramping but she said this is all normal. Has this happened to anyone else? I never noticed when I went to the bathroom that I was even bleeding, nothing was red.
221913 tn?1372276661 Also add a few glasses of pure cranberry juice each day. Some drugstores have urine test strips to check for blood, infections, etc ,etc. Or just go to your doc and I'm sure they will take a urine sample to send to lab and/or check with test strip right in office.
1008040 tn?1279159403 they were all urine test i used FRER test i hope i get a blood test at the docs monday to confirm im just so worried but i know its best to loose it this early at 6 weeks than for it to a stillbirth again i just want this so bad im really upset its going to be really hard to wait on the other test
Avatar f tn I'm 25 weeks pregnant. At around 19 weeks, after having urethral pain for 2 weeks, I went to the ER as i was certain I did have a UTI, even though my doctor dismissed my symptoms and told me the leukocytes and bacteria found were from contamination. I was in considerably more pain that same night so headed to the ER where they confirmed I had a UTI and put me on cephalexin. I took it for 4 days until I started having diarrhea.
Avatar f tn You can always buy test strips at target or pharmacy. PH strips you can test the discharge and it will tell you if its just urine or amniotic fluid.
