Avatar m tn This is water soluble and can be observed in the urine. However, ascorbic acid at higher concentration in urine samples can lead to false negative results in a number of urine tests and it is recommended that you have urinalysis done in a complete detail such as in a laboratory. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn I purchased some urinalysis strips, which showed the highest bar for Specific Gravity, and high Ascorbic Acid. Are these findings significant at all?
Avatar f tn Ooo, that's a keeper, Stella, thank you. Just started having that problem myself. Karen, I hope it works for you tonight! (And yes, I'm constipated too, though all the fiber I'm eating does fight its way through now and then. TT and one parathyroid out on 7/18.
Avatar f tn They can also be caused by to much vitamI'm C or ascorbic acid. I found that less vitamin C stopped the soars. Also stress can cause the soars. We are all different but if you are eating alot of vitamin C tablets or taking vitamins with C taking small amounts of C may help. I have been told that the problem does stem from having Chicken Pox early in life. It leaves a virus that never leaves your system.
Avatar f tn What form of a ascorbic acid?
Avatar m tn An increased production of red blood cells and reduction of symptoms associated with anemia such as weakness and shortness of breath may be observed. On the other hand, ferrous ascorbate is a synthetic molecule of ascorbic acid and iron. Ascorbic acid enhances absorption of iron and it also reduces ferric iron to ferrous iron which remains soluble even at neutral pH, hence absorbed thrice as much as ferric form or iron.
Avatar n tn But if you really did have something wrong like a gallstone or other bile blockage, then the urine test will remain constant in showing the problem on repeated tests. If you didn't have the strip stored properly, the testing chemicals on the strip will become compromised/contaminated and will give you the crazy results. Be sure your test strips are stored in a small, airtight container. And that you use a clean urine collection cup as well.
Avatar f tn I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???
Avatar n tn The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.

Avatar f tn Yes, a urine quick test can tell you if you have WBC, but not if you have gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU or another infection that could be causing that. You need specific tests for that. If you have concerns about those, you need to let the doctor know so they can do specific tests.
Avatar n tn I again bought urine strips that detect blood only, and the strips shows non-hemolyzed trace only after drinking beer or coffee. If I drink a glass of water with a tsp of baking soda, the test strips come out negative. I guess my question is "is it harmful to drink a glass of baking soda water daily?", or should I return to the doctor and go thru kidney x-rays, cystoscopy, etc again? I really hate to give up my coffe ...
874521 tn?1424116797 hi everyone, the Nemo saga continues. he is refusing to eat ANYTHING the Vet has given him for his struvite crystals.....I have to keep him on his regular diet of EVO dry or he'll starve himself and create other problems. I am giving him syringe fluids to keep him hydrated and flush his bladder however without the correct diet he'll just keep reforming these darn crystals.
Avatar n tn I frequently use urine test strips to test my urine when I feel unwell that may be waterwork problem. Have had kidney stone surgically removed in the past. Nitrite on the stick will mean that it is a bladder problem - usually Cystitis. Positive leucocyte reading on the stick with or without signs of protein, usually means that there is a bacterial infection. If the doctor said you have a uti (urinary tract infection) this is anywhere from the kidneys down.
Avatar f tn Hi! I have used Clinical Guard ovulation strips, and they work. But I just discovered some called BFP, they make ovulation & pregnancy test strips, and they are super accurate and easy to read. They're my new "go-to" brand. I buy off of Amazon. Good luck! & lots of baby dust!
