Avatar f tn I seem to have chronic bladder problems, like frequent urination, bladder spasms, my urine samples usually come back negative. Could this be Interstitial cystitis?
567025 tn?1216657348 The classic symptoms of Interstitial Cystitis are urinary frequency, urgency and pin, pressure or discomfort in the bladder, usually worse with bladder filling. To have interstitial cystitis you have to have a negative urine culture. Your history is not classic for interstitial cystitis. Overactive bladder can give you frequency and urgency, but usually has no pain component.

Avatar n tn Pursue your follow up consult with your physician. There is no definite test to diagnose interstitial cystitis .You may want to look into this url for further information on IC and the use of potassium sensitivity test for strengthening its diagnosis: http://www.ichelp.org/Default.aspx?
Avatar f tn Cystitis that is not interstitial cystitis is another way of saying urinary tract infection, involving inflammation of the bladder. They would wait a few days to see if any bacteria would grow out with a urine culture. It is more accurate than just a simple UA or urininalysis, because WBCs in urine can go back to "baseline" if the infection has been hanging around long enough. They may want to look for WBCs and kidney function testing to your blood as well.
Avatar f tn Radiation damage to the bladder during treatment for pelvic cancers can cause radiation cystitis. Certain chemotherapy drugs can cause a chemical cystitis. Interstitial cystitis is in the category of nonbacterial cystitis caused by an inflammation in the bladder wall. Cure for abacterial cystitis required long time therapy and the response to treatment is usually poor.
Avatar m tn Hmmm you might also want to consider the possiblity of Interstitial Cystitis, with the frequency issues. Most the time this accompanied by pelvic pain or for men pain the groin etc. but I have several IC patients that only initially had frequency and seeing your bladder weakened at such a young age makes me wonder. I would be glad to send you info on IC links etc. so you can discuss it with your doctor. We also have an IC support forum here on this site actually two, listed below.
Avatar f tn If not that is where you need to go. The pain could be chronic cystitis or Interstitial cystitis but I would think you would have some symptoms in between as well. If you would like more links or info on this just send me a pm. Here are some links to forums on this site that might help you also: http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Interstitial-Cystitis-IC--Pelvic-Pain-Support-Forum/show/412 http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Interstitial-Cystitis-/show/264 Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn Hi,for your disease, it is likely that you may have interstitial cystitis. The common symptoms of IC are: Pain in your pelvis or between the vagina and anus in women or between the scrotum and anus in men (perineum) Chronic pelvic pain A persistent, urgent need to urinate Frequent urination, often of small amounts, throughout the day and night People with severe interstitial cystitis may urinate as often as 60 times a day.
Avatar n tn Does interstitial cystitis cause microscopic hematuria? I have all the symptoms of IC but have not seen hematuria listed as one. A bladder infection has been ruled out. Thanks!
Avatar n tn can macrbid affect the results of an at home uti test? I have interstitial cystitis and I can tell I am getting a uti I started taking it on sat and have taken 4 then i did a test and it looks positive but these are not my ordinary symptoms that i have with ic.

Avatar f tn My doctor has told me that I probably have Interstitial Cystitis, but is not sure. But some of my symptoms don't make sense with this diagnosis. For instance, the pain I have been feeling is in one specific spot on the left side of the pelvic/abdominal region and is not in my bladder. I'm not exactly sure where it is anatomically, but I'm wondering if it could be around a female organ.
1404370 tn?1282381306 It is very likely that you have Interstitial Cystitis. I also have IC and am an IC support group leader in this region. If you would like some links and information Interstitial cystitis please send me a private message. We are not allowed to post links on the open forum.
Avatar m tn It may also cause discomfort in the scrotum or penis in men. There is no one test that is specific for interstitial cystitis but urine culture and cystoscopy are quite helpful in ruling out the conditions which may cause similar symptoms. I suggest you to consult a urologist and get the above mentioned possibilities ruled out by investigations which I have mentioned. Once the diagnosis is confirmed treatment can be planned.
1029507 tn?1287714315 what test do they do for interstitial cystitis? i also have a strong smell to my urine.
Avatar f tn Was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis 30 years ago. I’m a 56 year old female. Have had Hematuria and pressure, burning intermittent throughout the years. 2.5 years ago had gross Hematuria for the 1st time and had CT immediately after and Cysto 1 month later. Both were normal. Had not had any gross Hematuria since. Had some burning over the weekend and then gross Hematuria again on Monday. Put on Cipro and bleeding stopped by afternoon. Sent urine for culture but not back yet.
