At mine, it was just a urine test. They said they only do blood tests if the urine test is negative. It was at a military clinic, not sure if it's different at civilian offices.

Hello, If you are apprehensive regarding the status of your pregnancy you can get it checked. Most home pregnancy tests that check urine beta-HCG are sensitive to 20-25 mIU/ml of HCG. The test can be positive anywhere from about 2-3 days prior to a missed menses to 4-5 days after, but usually it should be done 7-10 days past your missed period. Otherwise you can get a serum HCG also done which is more specific than urine pregnancy test.

Its probably because yu took the negative test with unconcentrated urine...

I had a miscarriage on 2/22 and my HCG level is still at 10 as of April 8. I did a urine test at the dr's office same day on April 8 with negative result. Today, 4/13 I did a home pregnancy test and it's positive. What's this mean? is there a difference from the urine test given at the lab and urine test at home?

It depends on what kind of test you used and how far spaced apart you took the test. Were the digital or line test? Line test are more sensitive and digitals are not. Blue dye test are not reliable I would always use a pink dye test. If you answer some of these questions I might be able to help further.

Is it possible to have a negative urine pregnancy test and then have a positive blood test? Next fri. I am to go in and do a urine test and a blood test. They said I would get the urine test right away but the blood test they would have to call me later on. Just wondering if I get a negative urine test is there still hope for pregnancy? Also they transferred 2 embryos so would you be able to tell if there are still 2 if the HCG level is high?

Since you would be over 3 weeks which is what you need for a pregnancy test. Either way you should use protection of your not planning on having a baby. But if you feel pregnancy symptoms try another test or if anything go to the doctor.

Unfortunately people often read pregnancy tests wrong. So a blood or urine test by your doctor would probably be the best way to go. Or get a different pregnancy test that is easier to read. That being said, no matter how faint a line (unless its to the point of being an imaginary line) it tends to mean a person is pregnant. Testing your urine first thing in the morning may produce a darker line. Good luck!

A test at this point should be more than accurate. Get another one (pink dye is recommended) and take it with first morning urine. If this too is negative, make an appointment with your doctor and have blood testing done.

If the urine is separating, its probably because of your diet, or how concentrated your urine is at the time. A hormone would not effect the density of urine. I'm not saying that your urine did not sink to the bottom of the toilet, I'm just saying it wasn't because of the hcg in it. Plus, the Hcg doesn't make your urine yellow...the more yellow your urine is the more concentrated it is, but those are the wastes your body is flushing out, not the hcg.

Over the weekend I was experiencing some dizziness & fainted twice. The next day I still felt dizzy & light headed so I made a doctors appointment to see what was wrong. The doctor asked me if I was pregnant & of course my responsewas no! He then ordered me to get blood work done to test me for a few different things & of course pregnancy was one of them. My last menstrual cycle was the end on December.

When should pregnancy test done????before or after breakfast??? I heard we get exact reading wen we do it before brekfst....... Any idea??

It does sound very much like pregnancy. You did test around when you should have gotten an accurate result. But considering how late you are now and what you're symptoms are, I would definitely retest. And make sure to use your first morning urine. (most concentrated) Good luck!

A positive is a positive. I would wait or day or two and take another test with first morning urine but I would say you're pregnant.

The hcg level is not detected in urine unless u miss ur period , go for an hcg blood test i did it after 8 days of transfer and it was positive .

should be concerned if its nly higher than 3-4..but im worrying about the presenc of organism in urine..in the report they hvnt indicated any value..just a plus sign..so should I get a urine culture done to get treated?

Ok so I know homemade tests arent reliable but I thought it was neat reading about them. And I came across the bleach test. I know mixing bleach and urine probably is not the best idea. It says if it fizzes or foams that ur pregnant. Has anyone tried this and gotten results to share?
