Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. Ive had a urine test and it was ok so Im just curious, as it was clear is that it? am I clear for diabetes? thanks.

re basically the same, although some women prefer certain brands over others. Usually, the 7-test kits are midstream test, so a little easier to use, while the higher-quantity ones tend to be strips that needs to be dipped in urine, so requiring that you collect it in a cup first. I've used both types and they seemed to work equally well for me. Best of luck this month!

I am wondering what the difference is between a strip test and midstream ovulation test? Is there a difference? is one more accurate?

Hi, I used an ovulation testing kit this month. The best way to do this is to pee in the cup then hold the strip in the cup for 10-15 secs (thats wat i did). On CD12 i tested, got a control line but no test line. on CD15 i tested & got both the Control line & test line, and my test line was darker than my control. The test line HAS to be darker than the control line to be a positive for ovulation. If it is fainter than the control line, then its not a positive for ovulation.

I have gestational diabetes and they do check with every urine test to see if you have glucose in your urine. It helps them determine if your body is having issues producing and using insulin. I will tell you glucose will show up in your urine the more sugar you eat so if you are eating a lot of Ben and jerry's that's probably what is doing it. If i go off my diet and eat a few cookies they see the glucose in my urine.

Having scaled results (high to low, or normal to near high or above) calls for an A1c test to see the entire picture. An A1c test measures your glucose going back three months.

Sometimes it shows in ur pee! But I'd wait for the blood work! It's ok don't stress.......think positive!

ok i have recently taken a urine test because i had some kind of uti they said there was a very high abnormal range of glucose in my urine but when i came back the next day they gave me a blood suger test which was normal does anyone know what may have caused the high glucose in my urine?

They check the sugars, he did a test with mine and I've never had high glucose in my life. And the colour it came up, he said I have keytone colours in my urine indicating higher glucose levels. tomorrow morning I go for my 1 hour glucose test! Can anyone tell me what I'm going to have to do? I'm aware you drink a syrup kind of drink.. Do they give you a blood test or do you pee in a cup? I kNOW that blood test is more accurate than urine test and can detect pregnancy after 24 from implantation while urine test can give false positive results and false positive may be due to: 1-chemical pregnancy 2-missed reaction time(too long to read) 3-chemical interference from FERTILITY drugs having HCG ,medication like trankilizer phenothiazine,contamination with blood or gross amount of protien, 4-evaporation line,you see faint evaporation line as the urine crosses the test in the test are

Hi Super Sally. I got my results yesterday & everything was fine! I must have had a spike in glucose when I did the urine test & the urine test cannot be that accurate.

My doc just called and I did not pass the 1-hour glucose test so now I have to go back for the 3-hour! Has this happened to anybody? Anyone know what happens if I have the diabetes you get with pregnancy? Ugh!
