urine test high protein

Have any of you had to do a 24 hour urine collection test to check for high blood pressure ? My ob wants the test to make sure I don't end up.with pre eclampsia. The thing I don't understand is I'm only 15 weeks and I didn't have this test with my first son. Also how can they tell from urine?

My friend had high levels of protein in her urine. She had to do a 24 pee test, the doctors told her she got the protein from eating to many bananas and the high levels of potassium are what did it for her. You may just have to much of that, but I would follow up with your doc!

very high protein in urine is not uncommon in late stage kidney disease, if this were the case though and to be that high, you should ahve other tell tale symptoms, I really would get a simple blood test to check your kidney function though.

I had high BP and had to do a 24 hour urine test and came back with protein in my urine. As long as the protein is not accompanied by high BP or swelling, you're good. :) I'm actually being induced on the 14th at 37 weeks because of Pre E. I was diagnosed with it at 32 weeks and have been closely monitored since then.

I had to do the same thing at 18 weeks due I high blood pressure and protein in my urine. Everything will be okay :) I know it's really scary but don't stress yourself out, it won't help your blood pressure or your baby any. And I do not recommend reading on it, there is too much misinformation out there. If you have any questions ask your dr or midwife.

Lol I was like Okay then when my doc tols me I had to do a test she said if there is protein. In my urine they will have top put me on bed rest and Watch baby closely. But my doc doesn't think I have it. Is just everyone had to get the test done.

I had high protein 2 weeks ago. Tested again this week and it was normal. Most women test high at some point in pregnancy, doesn't mean anything unless you get more than one in a row. I hadn't eaten much 2 weeks ago, that was probably the reason it was high for me. Dehydration can be another reason. Odds are you have nothing to worry about, just take it as it comes. specially after high protein meals. The only thing i do not understand is that if my urine is foamy after high protein meals, how come there was not any protein detected in two seperate urinalyses dipstick test that i had. I am not worrying about it too much.

my doctor reported a urine protein level on my urine test as >1200. What does this mean?

Pre eclampsia means my body is not producing enough blood for whatever reason which is making my liver and kidneys over work so my body is not absorbing protein. High protein in urine can be extremely dangerous for me and baby. Causing seizures or other heart problems. My protein is border line which means they caught it early. A sign of it is high BP which is how they knew to test my urine.

The only time I have heard of it is when you may have preclampsia and they take the urin for 24 hours then test the proiten in it. If you have had high blood pressure or they seen some protein in the urin or if you are swelling. Do you have any of those symptom??

Which is high levels of protein in ur urine and it also cause high bp. They will do many cath samples of urine and if it gets to bad the will induce labor. but they monitor u because if ur bp becomes a problem they can give u meds in ur iv when u deliver to bring it down.

high specific gravity means high specific gravity, protein in the urine is a different measurement that is easily checked. Traces of protein are of no concern and often mean many things other than kidney disease.

if protein is not found in urine, will urine antibody test for any disease show no results? Or is it possible that there is antibody in urine but urine routine will show no protein present ?

I have traces if protein in my urine as well and had high blood pressure. Doctor made me pee in a jug for a whole day and turn it in. turned out I had a uti. Never had one before and heard they were painful. I told doctor that I wasn't in any pain or discomfort. My doctor said because we are pregnant some symtoms won't show. So it really could. Be a uti. Don't worry to much about it.

The spinal was cancelled for unrelated reasons. My 24 hour urine test came back with high protein and blood in the urine (this has been on-going for years). My neurologist had a fit and ordered this test. See results above. I was diagnosed with White Matter Disease after two years of MRI results. The Spinal was because of suspicion of Multiple Sclerosis. I did have the Lumbar Puncture this past Tuesday and no results yet.

The same happened with me, had high bp but my urine test for protein came back fine. I was prescribed labetalol at 13weeks that I take daily to keep my bp down. They still monitor me closely to make sure I dont develop preeclampsia. I'm 32+5 now.

It sounds like they suspect you might have pre-eclampsia. You can google it for details. Monitoring your BP and the 24h urine test will confirm it if it's there. If you do have it and they can't keep your symptoms in check they will induce labor and you might have the baby sooner than you think. But at 35w+ your angel will be fine.

But he said there was protein in my urine so now I have to take the 24 hours urine test. Any thoughts on actually having preclampsia without having high blood pressure. I haven't changed in dilation or effacing at all since last week.
