1) in addition of the urine test positive, Is a visual and & physical exam enough to make a correct verdict? 2) I am worry about the single sore (ulcer) almost resorbed. From your opinion Is it a syphillys or something else? 3) if Syphillis, why not to prescibe me Penicilline which was more adequate treatment? 4) if the ulcer is still not fully resorbed after tommorrow would i need to continue for more days the doxycline?

I had unprotected oral sex 4 weeks ago. The next day I had a burning when I urinated and my throat stated to get sore. The burning got better after 3 or 4 days but I still have a slight burn after I urinate and my throat is still sore. I got tested 24 days afterwards for Chlamydia/GC [ urine test ] and blood test for Hep A,B,C, HIV, Herpes 1 & 2. All came back negative except Herpes 1 and they say I may have gotten that when I was a child.

I was worried so I took an STD test today at the urology clinic I usually go to. The rapid blood test for HIV, Syphilis, and Herpes turned up negative. I took a urine test however, and the doctor said that there is some inflammation. He said that it is "most likely" a minor STD but his English was not good so he could have miscommunicated (I'm currently living in Korea). He mentioned this after looking at my previous tests which did not show any inflammation whatsoever.

I recently had a herpes test (urine), my Dr. said that there was a small trace, he said it was from a long time ago probably a sore on the lips. Dr. said it was definately not genital herpes. I have been on doxycyclyne (antibiotic) for a year now for acne. Could the anti-biotic have made my herpes test come back negative when in fact I am positive?

we never recommend the igm test for herpes testing. It's a flawed test and not worth your time or money. The encounter you had was very low risk. I assume your provider properly tested your urine that bacteria and blood was seen in it so no reason to doubt that it was an uti. I wouldn't even bother retesting for herpes unless you get an obvious lesion in the genital area to get cultured.

the herpes igm test is a greatly flawed test and we never recommend it being used on adults. A + igm is meaningless. at this point , unless you get symptoms that can be cultured, nothing you can do but repeat the herpes igg blood test 3 or 4 months post encounter. did you also have an igg herpes test done too?

The initial diagnosis was elevated white blood cells in urine (at time of appt. test). My back/groin pain helped them diagnose UTI. But if 24-48 hr. culture was negative, what could cause the infection showing in initial urine test?

You only need to do the hiv test which is done through a blood test, also a herpes test which is also done through a blood test.

you need to ask what testing was done on your urine for herpes. You can actually test for herpes in urine but you have to do pcr on it which most providers aren't doing and you also have to have an active lesion present which you did have. it's not a good way to test but call and make sure it was urine testing that was + and not other testing. how was your bf tested for herpes? can he recall ever having had a cold sore ever?

I've actually discussed this in the past with HHH and I understand his point of view, support most of why he says not too and differ just a bit. drawbacks to getting those panels done - -$$$$ ( some are way more pricey than others ) - no counseling and evaluation about risk. really most folks don't need the "whole shebang" after each sexual encounter. these companies offer "peace of mind" at a price -no advice as to when to test for what.

On the 11 February 2010 - I went for a full STD test. All STD results were negative apart from my Herpes Type 2 PCR Test. This was orginally communicated by the Lab (in London) as negative as well as the other tests, but then on 26 February I was contacted by my private doctor to let me know that my result was actually positive, the lab apparently had some problems with their machines, re-ran their tests and mine subsequently was now deemed as positive.

I got tested 7 weeks ago for hep a,b, and c, hiv early detection rna test, syphilis, herpes 1 and 2, chlamydia and gonorrhea. The test results all came back negative. I was wondering how accurate these test results were due to the time I got tested. I have blood and urine. I am not showing and symptoms but a (what I think) swollen lymph node in my groin. I also had a really bad big bite on my upper thigh the week I got tested. Could the swollen lymph node be from that?
