Avatar n tn I have had many white blood cells in my urine for about the past 7 months, if not longer. My doctor is starting to get concerened. They checked for bladder infection and kidney infection, they have done an ultrasound and everything. The only thing they found in the ultrasound was a cyst on me ovarie. I am being sent to a urologist next week. I am wondering what this could be?
Avatar n tn I never heard of testing for white blood cells in urine. But I do know for a fact that elevated white blood cell count in blood means an infection could be present in your body. White bloods increase to fight off infection.
Avatar m tn To be safe, I went to the doctor about 3 days ago and he tested my urine for white blood cells. He said that there were no WBCs in my urine and that I probably didn't need to worry about stds. At the time he did not recommend any other specialized std tests and told me to come back in a week if the symptoms were still present. I have heard that a white blood cell test is not sufficient to rule out stds, so I was wondering if you agreed with my doctors decision.
Avatar f tn Well kefle is a wide spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections and can be used to treat anything from a uti to heart valve infection. Make sure to take as directed, and take all of your prescription to kill off all the infection. Even if you feel better after a few continue to finish it all.

Avatar f tn I recently thought that I had a UTI and read up on the possibility of Ghonoria and Clamydia, and immediately went to the doctor for testing. My urine showed no white blood cells and the doctor said it was unlikely that I had and STD. A couple days later my labs came back and I did in fact have Clamydia, so I got my medicine from the Pharmacy. The doctor that called me on the phone , a different doctor than I had seen told me when I asked , that It was unlikely that I had Herpes as well.
Avatar m tn Welcome to our Forum. The presence of white blood cells (WBCs) and red blood cells (RBCs) in the urine can be due to many, many different causes. These causes can include STDs, urinary tract infection and other systemic infections. They can also be there from many things other than infection. In fact, a common cause of the presence of cells in the urine is vigorous exercise and many runners have this finding. If this is a concern, you doctor will do tests.

Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with urinary tract infection after i noticed blood came out of my penis after urinating. Avatar f tn White blood cells in the urine usually indicate a urinary tract infection. The leukocyte esterase (LE) test detects esterase, an enzyme released by white blood cells.
Avatar f tn Hi there. Gosh, to be honest, I don't know how quickly the white blood cells will not be in your urine after infection. You were on antibiotics, which should knock out infection, right? You could also have inflammation of the urinary tract which would result in white blood cells in urine, but bacterial UTI is the most common cause. Some women have Sterile pyuria which is persistent white blood cells in urine without any bacterial infection at all.

Avatar m tn Hello, White blood cells when present in urine are indicative of urinary tract infection. For this I would suggest you to get urine for culture examination done since a course of antibiotics is needed. Also drink plenty of fluids and water and citric juices like cranberry juice. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
1364969 tn?1295926659 m not entirely sure what white blood cells in the urine means either. So I did a quick search for you and I found this: Usually there are no blood cells in the urine as the kidney does not allow blood cells to pass into the urine and the blood has no contact with the urine in any way.
