Avatar n tn 20 in the low normal range, but the plasma free normetanephrine was elevated at 1.2 nmol/l. A later 24-hour urine test was normal, along with a later plasma free metanephrines test. Not sure what this means, but I think I have excessive elevations in noradrenaline at times for some reason, which follows or exacerbates my other endocrine and autoimmune conditions - Raynauds, UCTD, pituitary disease, adrenal insufficiency, etc.
787406 tn?1339203183 My Gynocologist bumped up my HRT to curb the massive sweating. My Primary ran the 24 hour Urine test and several blood test and sent me a letter saying everything looked fine even after reading these values. I did have an Abdominal Ultrasound be my Gastro Doc because of the Pain. She also did another Endoscopy and found more Polyps and noticed some on my Gallbladder via the US.

Avatar m tn There are already tests available to test your monoamines (serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine). Those are usually urine tests and they are pretty expansive (about 400-600$ but genetics is an information technology which means it is evolving exponentially which means you will see the price lowered in the years to come) . Depression can be more complicated than modifications in your monoamines. Some have the biological depression and some don't.
969132 tn?1249324251 The most important of these transmitters in the autonomic nervous system are acetylcholine and norepinephrine. In the parasympathetic system, acetylcholine is responsible for most of these transmissions between the afferent and efferent nerves of the system and between the efferent nerve endings and the cells or organs that they subserve. Acetylcholine also serves to transmit nerve-to-nerve messages in the afferent nerves and the brain centers of the sympathetic nervous system.
787406 tn?1339203183 My Endocrinologist ran another Plasma Norepinephrine test and my level was 1129. Previously it had been 1042. Can stress cause this? My Endo is saying that stress is responsible for it being extremely high. My cortisol level was normal at 6.
Avatar n tn I emailed the doc who said the elevated dopamine is normal and it could be much higher and still be normal.
Avatar f tn ve not had that standing norepinephrine test (was diagnosed in general w/POTS via tilt table test). I have gotten spikes in blood pressure in home testing with standing. I am not a doctor, but logically if you have been diagnosed with POTS already, with a figure of 900 for your standing norepinephrine (unless you have a pheochromocytoma causing the high number), I would be thinking hyperadrenergic form of POTS as well.
Avatar n tn For cortisol, there is a 24 hour test for cortisol (ah, another jug!), 8am tests for cortisol and ACTH, and if the doc is good, they will test your adrenals for renin, aldosterone, dhea-s, and do more comprehensive testing of the entire endocrine system as cortisol pretty much can effect most hormones. Cortisol lowers testosterone - that is why I am thinking Cushing's. I don't know if a pheo does that. Or at least, I have not heard that. I hope your doc calls you soon.
Avatar m tn Yes, in fact I've had 3 urine test to check for pheochromocytoma. The first one showed that my catecholamines were elevated. The second and third one showed that all was normal. Also I had a body scan of the adrenal glands. The first body scan showed a 4mm nodule on my adrenal gland which they said wasn't big enough to remove. Six months later the body scan was done again to see if it had grown and they said it wasn't there anymore.
Avatar m tn I have to go off of Cymbalta because of side effects. The norepinephrine part was helping tremendously. Any way to help get the good stuff naturally. I would wake at a regular time like clock work. I had a sense of cognitive clarity that I did not have on Celexa.
Avatar m tn I was able to find this on the warnings- "Sinemet may cause the results of some tests for urine glucose or urine ketones to be wrong. Ask your doctor before you change your diet or the dose of your diabetes medicine."-- but nothing about it causing levels to actually be effected. Regardless- it's important to be in touch with your doctor about the changes you have seen since starting to take the medication. It's certainly something that you don't want to over look!
Avatar f tn Our cardiologist has prescribed atenolol (25mg) for Nick and has also requested a 24-hour urine test for pheochromocytoma. I was reading over the warnings with the atenolol and it says that it works by "blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in your body such as ephinephrine on the heart and blood vessels." It also says to consult your doctor before using if you have "..........a certain type of tumor (pheochromocytoma).
1128565 tn?1316721143 While it is true that a certain brand of Benadryl can help for withdrawal due to it's sedative effect and action on the H1 receptor, Benadryl also have anticholinergic effect. The withdrawal is mainly due to what is called a ''anticholinergic rebound'' what you need is to rebalance your cholinergic system by providing your body/brain with extra choline & inositol (supplementing with choline and inositol to restore the depleted levels of acetylcholine).
Avatar m tn There are test to see if that is what is going on. Doc might want to 1st do 24 hr urine test to rule out anything else. You can find a few YouTube video Doc in Ohio, Not many docs have knowledge to do the tests. Has to with norepinephrine level.
1063463 tn?1302274619 i have extreme thirst and urination. When I did my 24 hour urine test I returned with almost 4 gallons of urine and i was only awake for 14 of the 24 hours.
1063463 tn?1302274619 Most tests came back normal but my 24 hour urine test showed high epeniphrine and norepinephrine. I have severe fatigue, severe dizziness(laying down helps), skin rashes, cold urticaria, severe feelings of anxiety, extreme thirst and urination, high blood pressure, muscle weakness(mostly in my legs), dark spots on my skin(was told it was melasma but it started when i got sick), had episcleritis for 11 months, irregular periods(i went for 6 months without one now i am having one every 2 weeks).
Avatar f tn I am 37 and I have been ill now for 8 months with, fatigue, High and Low Blood Pressure (Hard to Control), Racing Heart beat, muscle weakness along with numbness in legs and arms, dizziness, vision problems, recurrent infection in the sinuses and lungs, irritability, acid reflux/gerd, cramping in calves, shortness of breath, painful periods, sweating, depression, some nausea, stomach ache, and thirst. Not necessarily all of these at the same time.
Avatar f tn I have POTS and I just had my adrenals checked by an Endo dr. You would know if they tested them because it's first thing in the morning and they inject you with something and then you have to have a blood test every 30 min for an hour or more. My levels were normal but now she wants to do a 24hr test where I have to take a pill and they test me for 24 hrs. It's called an ACTH stim test and it checks your cortisol and ACTH.
Avatar f tn As an orally active synthetic precursor of norepinephrine, Droxidopa increases the supply of norepinephrine available for delivery to its receptors, effectively targeting the root cause of NOH to improve orthostatic blood pressure and alleviate symptoms of orthostatic hypotension.
