urine test for glucose

Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. Ive had a urine test and it was ok so Im just curious, as it was clear is that it? am I clear for diabetes? thanks.

The doctor said I had glucose in my urine. She is going to retest me again in 2 weeks. I went in 2 weeks ago for the sugar test and passed with a 131 cutoff is 135. So my question is has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean I am going to develop gestational diabetes?? I am not over weight but I do have a bad ice cream habit...been known to eat a pint of ben and jerrys a nite!!! Any input would be appericated..thanxs!!

s usually well managed. My urine test showed my glucose is 250 in the urine, but my sugar checks are usually in range 2 hours after I eat. Can this high glucose in urine cause these problems I'm having for the last 10 days? I've been on doxycycline for the last 6 days, but it's not helping at all. Any advice would be appreciated. without any glucose. I underwent a fasting blood glucose test which showed a level of 5.3 mmol/l (95.4 mg/dl). today on testing my urine about 30 mins after 250ml of coke and 3 sweet biscuits there was NO glucose in the urine. Can anyone explain why the first test was positive?

Ive had this twice at my appointments staight after each other my blood work came back fine glucose tt then went for my next midwife appointment and sugur was in urine again so had to have another glucose tt and a diabetes fasting test and yet again nothing im now 33 weeks pregnant and all going well im on antibiotics for some kind of infection but thats normal sometimes you will have sugar in your urine if your bloods come back ok try to cut down on your sugar intakes this helped me :-)

ok i have recently taken a urine test because i had some kind of uti they said there was a very high abnormal range of glucose in my urine but when i came back the next day they gave me a blood suger test which was normal does anyone know what may have caused the high glucose in my urine?

tomorrow morning I go for my 1 hour glucose test! Can anyone tell me what I'm going to have to do? I'm aware you drink a syrup kind of drink.. Do they give you a blood test or do you pee in a cup? I have a fear of needles, granted I'm ok with it because it's for my twins! I just want to know before I go so their is no surprises!

Hi Super Sally. I got my results yesterday & everything was fine! I must have had a spike in glucose when I did the urine test & the urine test cannot be that accurate.

She said there were traces of glucose and white blood cells in my urine. She has asked me to go in for a blood test and I think a Prostate psa test. I forgot to tell the doctor that I had been on antibiotics for 7 days for a skin infection. I finished the course on Sunday and had a urine dipstick test on Wednesday morning. Could the medication raise urine glucose levels?

I did once, which alarmed my doctor for the same reasons.... but after follow-up tests (1hr glucose test & 24hr urine catch), everything was fine. Now I'm 34weeks & everything is perfectly normal-all 'risky' levels significantly dropped. The same may happen for you, but just make sure eating a well-balanced diet. Also, never have juice, milk, or any other sugary substance before an appointment. That was my mistake.

t call me, that everything was just fine, but if they did, something was wrong! I got the 1 hr glucose test as well (for having a very small trace of glucose on urine) and the same they won't call Mr unless something is wrong! But they didn't tell me how long should I be waiting for a call!!
