Avatar f tn My doctor has an assistant, not a nurse, who assists her with checking patient vitals, etc. the assistant makes frequent demands for a urine test...4 in the last 8 months which seem excessive to me. She gets quite testy if I am unable to comply and has left an unpleasant message on my phone once. Today she brought me a full paper cup of water and insisted I drink it. Am I legally required to submit to these tests? Is there a certain number of urine tests required per year?
Avatar m tn 24-hour urine calcium excretion test This test looks at how much calcium is being excreted in the urine. For this test, you collect all your urine over 24 hours in a large container for laboratory analysis to measure the amount of calcium in the total volume of urine. Excessive urinary calcium excretion is a common cause of bone loss and osteoporosis.

368646 tn?1208393887 Metal alloys are composed of several different metals AND there are many different alloys too! Test your blood and urine for all the metals in your hardware. Then get your blood tested at ORTHOPEDIC ANALYSIS. They have a website. You need a doctor order. Get your primary doctor or Neurosurgeon to write an ordr for Quest Labs for blood and urine levels and then an order for the Orthopedic Implant and Bone Matrix Protein Analysis Panel #2 and get it done asap.
Avatar f tn Thanks everyone for your answers. I just got the results of my bone density test and am one step away from osteoporosis. Don't know if it's related to the medication or not.
Avatar f tn Anemia itself can cause swollen joints of the chest and weight loss, especially if it is involving the bone marrow. Severe UTI can also cause anemia and weight loss. The mono infection could have come due to low immunity. It would be good to have a combined approach of a hematologist and an urologist. It is difficult to comment beyond this on net. But you must seek another opinion for sure. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn More serious issues of vitamin D toxicity in the body leads to elevated levels of calcium that reside in the blood and soft tissues (like the lungs, heart and kidneys). At this point, bone pain or bone loss can occur. Sufferers will also exhibit urinary tract symptoms ranging from excessive production of urine to kidney stones or renal failure. High blood pressure and an increased risk of heart disease are concerns and ultimately can lead to irrevocable damage to major organs.

Avatar n tn ) This study can be looked at in the light of the previous thread regarding Growth Hormone deficiency, which also causes or correlates with bone density loss. How many on the forum have had any concerns on bone loss in recent years? Avatar f tn After doing research this time i approached my dr and explained that the range changed in 2002 and asked if she would let me try levothyroxine for my severe fatigue, irritability, depression, hair loss, dry skin, hypersleep (12-18 hrs day), severe cold intolerance, and heavy periods. She said i could try 25 mcg of levothyroxie and recheck my levels in 4 weeks. On 3/24/08 my TSH was 0.625, free t4 1.15, free t3 2.5. My symptoms had almost totally resolved at that time.
Avatar n tn Would look at 24 hour urine calcium -- that would be normal or high in this diagnosis. If there is bone loss, kidney stone or relatively young age (? <60) then would consider surgical treatment of this. the symptoms are not specific to parathyroid disease, so there is no guarantee that fixing the problem will resolve all the symtpoms.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor last week as I have been having pain on both upper left and rt side of abdomen. They found bilirubin in my urine. Avatar f tn Regenerative bone grafting in the mouth is a highly predictable and a common procedure done by Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. As with many dental conditions, there are a variety of way to reconstruct the missing bone. The application of Distraction Osteogenesis for implant site development is one of the more recent advances in this technology. Traditional bone grafting has been used for many years with great success.
