Avatar m tn Hello, The urine report is positive for bacteria and protein which is due to urinary tract infection and proteinuria. Avatar n tn You may not even have to bring your dog in for an exam if the urine is positive for a simple urinary tract infection (an infection without crystals). The vet can simply give appropriate antibiotics. If your dog has crystals in his urine, the crystals would need to be identified and treatment instituted. Crystals can be dangerous in male dogs because if they become large enough they can become lodged in the urethra and cause blockage (even in dogs, though more common in male cats).

Avatar m tn The increased white blood cells ("pus cells") indicates an infection in your urethral or elsewhere in the urinary tract. The most common cause is an STD like gonorrhea, chlamydia, or nongonococcal urethritis (NGU). Non-STD urinary tract infection is possible, but uncommon in men under 35-40 years old. The sensitivity report helps in detecting which antibiotics will act against the infecting organism. The doctor will start antibiotics based on the sensitivity report. Avatar f tn I have a question for those of you with urinary tract problems. I have had several UTIs and seem to be retaining urine. Also, my bladder and kidneys hurt. As many of you know, I do have Lupus. The question I have is should I be going to a urologist? I have talked to my GP about this and I have even mentioned being tested for Lupus Nephritis, but he just tells me that anytime he has checked my kidneys they have been fine.
Avatar f tn However make sure they do not have an infection like gonorrhea or chlamydia which can feel like a urinary tract infection but CAN be transmitted by oral sex." It therefore sounds more like a coincidence than cause and effect. I don't think a high fever is a hallmark of either chlamydia or gonorrhea. That said, it is worthwhile for your daughter to know that there is a pretty virulent gonorrhea going around that can be orally transmitted.
