667829 tn?1297978123 I would personally would talk to a doctor or someone right away. People with "diabetes" are more susceptible to urinary tract infections and pregnant women are more likely to have the infection spead to their kidneys. There are antibiotics that you cannot take while pregnant but it is still best to get the opinion of a doctor.
Avatar f tn A pain-relieving medication can be obtained over the counter, but it only helps by numbing the urinary tract and does not treat the problem. Not treating the problem would lead to permanent problems affecting your kidneys. Brands here in the US are Azo Standard or pyridium. I do not mean a cranberry remedy, although cranberry pills can be helpful as well. they acidify the urine and cut down on bacteria counts, but don't cure a full-blown infection.
Avatar n tn The infection can move up to your kidneys quite quickly. Urinary tract infection is not serious in females, but in males it is.
Avatar n tn an urinary tract infection, vaginal infection, or an infection of the skin of the perivulvar area. The infection could be bacterial, yeast, or a combination. Usually urinary tract infections are accompanied by the symptoms of increased frequency of urination, and/or drinking, dribbling, or inappropriate urination. However, occasionally the only symptom is licking the vulvar area.
Avatar f tn Has anyone got a urinary tract infection during pregnancy? Was it uncomfortable and a little painful at times? once treated did the uncomfortablness go away? I think I have one I have a drs appt in 4 days is it safe to wait until then?
4251679 tn?1370305531 UTIs are exactly what their name describes. and infection in your urinary tract. its not in your vagina, however, ive always been told not to have sex while you have one because sex could be the cause of it. and its best to make sure its all better before introducing even more bacteria. Ive never heard of it being contagious, and dont think that it is, but ask your doctor. and ive also never had a cream to use, so im not sure what thats for.
Avatar f tn Im 90% sure that I have a urinary tract infection but I have additional symptoms that I dont usually have. I have a side effect after taking Tamsulosin (Retrograde ejaculation) or any other ejaculation problem. Is this normal or should I stop using Tamsulosin? Or will it (Retrograde ejaculation ) recover after stop using ten days? Should I keep getting Tamsulosin for 10 days or stop?
Avatar f tn How do you tell the difference between a urinary tract infection and yeast infectiy?
Avatar n tn I would recommend seeing your Dr. You could have a urinary tract infection, or, if you've had unprotected sex it could be an STD.
Avatar f tn No that is not normal! It sounds like you have a uti (urinary tract infection) It usually burns when you urinate, sometimes there is pressure too. If you can visually see the blood you definitly need to go to the dr. They will give you an antibiotic that will help.
Avatar m tn Based on my experience, blood in the urine was due to urinary tract infection. I felt pain in my vagina when passing urine and drops of blood came out after the urine. My gynecologist gave me antibiotics to treat the infection. If your wife feels the same, better take her to the doctor immediately.
211940 tn?1267881266 Socrates, your aging and (no doubt enlarging) prostate combined with a MS bladder that is difficult to empty completely makes you VERY susceptible to urinary tract infection and I am afraid this one you have has been hanging around for quite some time. It sounds like you have been able to keep it semi-controlled but I doubt it was ever truly gone. The symptoms may have come and gone but my guess is that it continued to brew in your bladder and has finally exploded into full rage.
385161 tn?1270081218 I keep getting infections and its driving me nuts!!! I have always been a very healthy person before pregancy i never had any of these infections, most of them i'd never even heard of help!! When I was 6 weeks pregnant i got my first yeast infection....then after the monistat i still had discharge and was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis, i was given vaginal inserts again (this time prescription for bv.) so i finished that up and got another yeast infection....
Avatar n tn After confirming the diagnosis of a urinary tract infection through urine tests, antibiotic treatment may be started. A urine culture and sensitivity test will determine the specific organism responsible as well as the antibiotic treatment. Drinking plenty of fluids also help. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn Furthermore, I have read one book that said cigarettes irritate the skin in the bladder, and alcohol is very irritating on the urinary tract and causes stones. Too much calcium or inappropriately absorbing calcium can cause stones. One book about using foods to heal mentioned that consuming a lot of tomatoes can irritate the urinary tract.
Avatar f tn I have a question for those of you with urinary tract problems. I have had several UTIs and seem to be retaining urine. Also, my bladder and kidneys hurt. As many of you know, I do have Lupus. The question I have is should I be going to a urologist? I have talked to my GP about this and I have even mentioned being tested for Lupus Nephritis, but he just tells me that anytime he has checked my kidneys they have been fine.
Avatar n tn i had a urinary tract infection less than a month ago and i drank all the cranberry juice in the world to get rid of it. it disappeared a week later. my boyfriend and i have great sex regularly 3-4 times a week and since i had this infection it either takes me a lonngggg time to orgasm or i dont orgasm at all. can my inablity to have great sex be related to my urinary tract infection? and if so, how can i fix it? please help.
Avatar f tn It's probably just a urinary tract infection. Very common. Antibiotics will clear it up in no time. Relax. Getting worked up about it isn't going to solve anything.
Avatar n tn There is nothing you can really do about the urinary tract infection except take the antibiotics. They may want you to take a stronger antibiotic (prescribed by your doctor) but being pregnant makes us more probable to have urinary tract infections. It doesn't become a problem unless you ignore it.
