4251679 tn?1370305531 UTIs are exactly what their name describes. and infection in your urinary tract. its not in your vagina, however, ive always been told not to have sex while you have one because sex could be the cause of it. and its best to make sure its all better before introducing even more bacteria. Ive never heard of it being contagious, and dont think that it is, but ask your doctor. and ive also never had a cream to use, so im not sure what thats for.
Avatar n tn You may not even have to bring your dog in for an exam if the urine is positive for a simple urinary tract infection (an infection without crystals). The vet can simply give appropriate antibiotics. If your dog has crystals in his urine, the crystals would need to be identified and treatment instituted. Crystals can be dangerous in male dogs because if they become large enough they can become lodged in the urethra and cause blockage (even in dogs, though more common in male cats).
Avatar n tn Hi Burning during urination could be due a urinary tract infection which is the infection of the urinary system consisting of kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate (in men), urethra. It is caused by a pathogen, typically bacteria which can cause infection along the urinary tract. Diagnosis is usually by clinical features, microscopic examination or by culture of the urine. Treatment is by antibiotics which can eradicate the causative pathogen.
Avatar m tn The other possibility which needs to be ruled out is a urinary tract infection, prostatitis and also any stone in the urinary tract. Prostatitis often presents with burning pain at the end of urination. I’ll suggest you to get yourself examined by a urologist , followed by an ultrasound of the urinary tract and maybe some tests like urine examination etc. I would also suggest a 24 hrs urine test and a swab culture of the discharge to confirm the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn After confirming the diagnosis of a urinary tract infection through urine tests, antibiotic treatment may be started. A urine culture and sensitivity test will determine the specific organism responsible as well as the antibiotic treatment. Drinking plenty of fluids also help. Take care and best regards.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone. I am a guy and I have been diagnosed with a urinary tract infection. Specifically "Morganella Morganii." When the doctor told me she said the specific urinary tract infection I have is very rare in men and was "strange" I could get it. I have never had a urinary tract infection in my life. The timing of it seems odd as it comes only one week after I had sex with a female escort.
Avatar m tn Sounds like kidney or urinary tract infection. Call doc, see if you bring in a urine sample. If it is an infection, only antibiotics will help, nothing over the counter unfortunately - but believe me I love my heating pad. I even bring it with in the car with a power converter. I've had several kidney issues, and now am recovering from surgery for nutcracker syndrome and pelvic congestion syndrome (found both in men and women). Good Luck.
1415174 tn?1453243103 More women than men tend to get urinary tract infections especially in menopause. Men and women get more infections when they get older or hospitalized. You can just say yes ( you get a urinary tract infection) 2. no, rare 3. frequently. Are you male or female? Are you in menopause (if female)?
Avatar m tn //www.webmd.com/men/urinary-tract-infection-in-men If it continues, see your doctor. They'll do a urine sample to check for bacteria and then treat you with antibiotics. Fairly common and gets better quickly once treated.
Avatar f tn Urinary tract infections are usually a little worse for men because the uretha is longer. And I would say no, they have no right to lie to you about std's. In fact, some STD's have to be reported (such as HIV, Syphilis, Gonnorea) so they would have to tell you if you have them.
Avatar n tn The infection can move up to your kidneys quite quickly. Urinary tract infection is not serious in females, but in males it is.

Avatar f tn Has anyone had a urinary tract infection Or cystitis during treatment. I had one four weeks ago that responded to antibiotics from the trial nurse. I am 20 weeks into the Gilead 5881 and 9541 trial with SOC. But three weeks later it came back and did not respond to the same antibiotics. Now I have to wait for the antibiotics to leave my system and get a culture done. Another four to five days of discomfort.
Avatar m tn In sexually active men, Chlamydia trachomatis is responsible for two-thirds of cases, followed by Neisseria gonorrhoeae and E. coli (or other bacteria that cause urinary tract infection). Particularly among men over age 35 in whom the cause is E. coli, epididymitis is commonly due to urinary tract obstruction.[2] Less common microbes include Ureaplasma, Mycobacterium, and cytomegalovirus, or Cryptococcus in patients with HIV infection. Avatar f tn They can be caused by any type of thing that blocks the flow of urine in the urinary tract which can be in your urethra, bladder or kidney. Kidney stones, for example. Kidney disease. Anatomy that is unusually shaped. You could have a genetic predisposition. Men should also have their prostate checked if they have chronic UTI's as that is a common cause of this recurrence. Not sure why anyone would opt to not treat a UTI since they are uncomfortable.
