Avatar f tn Urinary tract infections are usually a little worse for men because the uretha is longer. And I would say no, they have no right to lie to you about std's. In fact, some STD's have to be reported (such as HIV, Syphilis, Gonnorea) so they would have to tell you if you have them.
Avatar n tn My cat has been diagnosed with urinary tract infection; I have been given the medications and started the treatment around a week ago. He doesn't seem to be in pain anymore and there's no blood in the urine, but his attitude still worries me a lot. He is still most of the time, just laying down around the house and almost doesn't touch his food, I've tried offering him different things from fish to meat but he barely touches them if at all.

Avatar m tn However, for reassurance, you can get the urine examined and maybe get an ultrasound of the urinary tract done. Mucus in urine can be due to infection or stones in urine or retrograde ejaculation( in males). I suggest you to get your urine examination and urine culture done. In some cases cystoscopy needs to be done. Hopefully, everything should come back as normal. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn In children without urinary tract infections 17.2-18.5% have VUR, whereas in those with urinary tract infections the incidence may be as high as 70% Age Younger children are more prone to VUR because of the relative shortness of the submucosal ureters. This susceptibility decreases with age as the length of the ureters increases as the children grow. In children under the age of 1 year with a urinary tract infection, 70% will have VUR. This number decreases to 15% by the age of 12.

Avatar n tn You may not even have to bring your dog in for an exam if the urine is positive for a simple urinary tract infection (an infection without crystals). The vet can simply give appropriate antibiotics. If your dog has crystals in his urine, the crystals would need to be identified and treatment instituted. Crystals can be dangerous in male dogs because if they become large enough they can become lodged in the urethra and cause blockage (even in dogs, though more common in male cats).

Also a complete urine examination and culture may be required. Please consult a urologist for confirming the diagnosis. I hope that helps. Kind regards.

Other obstructions include a narrowing of the urethra, which may arise because of infection or inflammation, stone in the tract, nerve damage, or a tightening of the foreskin, called phimosis. Hope this information helps. Best.
