I've had 4 operations in the last 9 months for retinal detachment. After the first 3, my eye would always recover properly. The last operation which was done December 5th 2008, went well according to my doctor. I went to Africa for a little over a month to travel with family in January. I did everything the doctor told me, putting my eye drops in and not touching the eye as it healed. Now it's June, and for the past 3 months the upper eyelid on the affected eye has been swollen.
While laying in bed I noticed a small bump on my cornerlower eyelid that was painful. (very tiny tiny bump) next morning woke up to crusty eyelashes, white part of eye slightly swollen, and pinkish color eye and swollen upper eyelid. Went to eye dr he wasn't sure what the issue is, informed wasnt pink eye nor a stye, but prescribed maxitrol to use twice a day.
I have been having periods where my upper eyelid will start out itching badly, then it will progress to red & painful followed by severe swelling. This will last a couple of days from start to finish & then go away on its own. The periods have occurred three times over the past 8 mos spanning both winter & spring months. No other allergy symptoms are present. Any ideas as to what this could be?
So almost 2 weeks ago now, I woke up with my right upper eyelid (only) so swollen that my eyebrow looked like I just had an overdone face lift on one side of my face. I tried putting cold compress on it, no change, as the day progressed swelling decreased, but not completely. Next day same thing, took some Actifed and rested for a few hours. This seemed to make the swelling go down quite a bit.
If it's swollen, painful to touch and red a stye is likely
If its swollen but no pain and hard bump in lid chalazion is likely
If its swollen and itchy no pain no readness some sort of allergic reaction is likely.
You can try warm compresses but if it doesn't improve soon see an ophthalmologist. Find one near you at www.aao.
Over the last six months i am having recurrent swollen eyelid, only one eye at a time but can be either eye, usually lasts 1 or 2 days, only upper eyelid, no pain, itchyness, blurry vision or bloodshot eyes. Had reoccured every 2-3 wks, have had 9wks now when it hasn't happened, and yesterday it reoccurred. GP has tested for thyroid problems, all clear. I have psoriatic arthrits, my consultant says its not related, can you help?

like bumps, 2 around the same area on my lower eyelid, and one on my upper eyelid. Again on the outside of the lid, not underneath. My eye does not itch, is only mildly red, and just a little bit swollen, my lower eyelid became very dry and flaky. I am a nurse and I asked a PA what he thought they were and he said styes. I don't know if I believe his diagnosis. I thought styes only developed around the inside of the eyelids?
i was wondering if it was possible to get a stye under the upper eyelid from my research it seems that they only come up on the edges well when i raise my upper eyelid there is a pink with a white head inflamed pimple look alike which has my whole eye swollen, its a lot worse when i first wake up and then the swelling goes down some but it still looks half as open as the other one any advice besides going to the doctor, is there any over counter drops that u would recommend?
It seemed that just the inner part (toward the nose) of the eyelid was red and swollen but the skin above my eyelid has also drooped over my lid. The redness is gone and although my eye still feels like something is not quite right and the lid is a little more dry than normal, it looks all better except for that drooping skin. Is that due to swelling? Will it get better? I am only 24, so I don't think that skin should be drooping already (& on just one eye).
I have a root abscess from a broken tooth on the upper jaw. A week ago I had a severe pain on that tooth and I started taking Amoxicillin 500mg as my dentist prescribed in case of infection when he opened it to clean the roots.The next day the part next to my nose got swollen but the pain has gone.After 5 days on Amoxicillin the swell is not visible but I can feel it when I open my mouth. Hello, my upper lid of the left eye has been swollen for the past 2-3 years. I went to numerous eye doctors they all prescribed me eye drops from allergy, but the swelling never went away. Sometimes I don't feel like it is swollen, although it is, and sometimes I feel pressure on my eye. There is no bumps and my eye is not red. Is there anytihng you can suggest?
Some days I wake up with no pain, while others I need to keep my eyebrow very raised due to my eyelid being so swollen, and I also feel pressure around my upper right cheek and in my right ear I get random stabbing pain and ringing. I also feel like my eyesight is off, especially on days where the pressure is particularly bad it seems like I become very sensitive to light and it is hard to look at people in the eye.
5 hours and my face was sunburnt even after using 15spf and two days later my upper right eyelid is swollen alot with bags under both eyes and a funny kind of numbness on the right side of my face. i just had botox injection 8 days ago, the doctor injected it in the area just below the eyebrow.after 3 days my right eye particularly the upper eyelid started to become swollen and my upper eyelid dropped.is it possible that the cause of it is the injected botox or it's not related.?please answer my big question...thanks..
On Saturday around 4-ish my eye started hurting a little so I just rested the rest of the day. When I woke up on Sunday, the top eyelid (only the inner half on it) was swollen and really hurt. Especially the part where your outer kid meets you inner lid (not sure what it's called, but it was that entire area). My inner caruncle itched really bad too. On Monday, my lower lid was swollen and my upper lid wasn't anymore. My inner caruncle was still swollen though.
Every so often I get very swollen upper and lower eyelids and my eye goes bright red. It is always the left eye. I have had one opthamologist treat me for Herpes Keratitis while another for chronic blepharitis (I do have seborrhheic dermatitis). What can I do to head off these attacks? I do warm compresses and lid scrubs, but can I use steroids like Tobradex when I fell an attack coming on? Often they seem to be preceded by a stye.
I'm suffering through one now and very anxious.
Hi there! I had same problem as you. I underwent eyelid surgery in January this year. I had huge bags under my eyes and could't properly see because of swollen upper eyelid, I found clinic and I am satisfied. Healing was really fast. The worst thing - I couldn't wear make up for a month. But results are great. I look younger.
