s been 10 weeks post op, and I was doing good until about a week ago, just woke up and had awful stabbing pains all over my knee, shooting pain, then I could hardly bend and go up and down stairs, getting worse as of today, I have been wearing an unloader brace for two weeks, one nurse suggested I go get checked for blood clot at the hospital , is that necessary, the pain is also a tight feeling
Often the pain seems to travel up to involve the ankle and lower let. A custom-made ankle brace, one that allows your foot to flex up and down normally, but stabilizes and prevents rolling in and out, can be a big help.
Surgery to insert stabilizing pins through the offending joint(s), thus fusing them, does internally what the brace is doing externally, allowing you to get rid of the brace.
I had the pins put in my right foot and currently have the external brace on my left.
/ I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.

Go for an MRI and follow up with your orthopedician.
im 14 and ever since i fell about a year ago i began having real bad knee pain it started in my right knee, it was relly bad & i couldnt walk w/o crutches and a knee brace for about a week. then the pain went away for a while about 4 1/2 months and now its come back but this time on my left knee. i dont know if this has anything to do with my injury, it also could be my weight even though it shouldnt because im not too overweight just average.
I read "I bought a knee brace for work, and sports. It is like elastaprene, or something. It works well keeping my knee stable (ACL injury). But it makes my skin have a rash. Is there another style material brace I could buy that would not make my skin have a rash? "
But no answer. Is there any solution?
I am still having issues even when I wear a knee brace (which I have been wearing also since about 2007). Sometimes my knee almost feels detached and when I squat, my knee always feels like it's twisting some way that it shouldn't be and it hurts a lot.
ANY IDEAS?! I know it's hard to know what I'm talking about through my description but I'm hoping for opinions anyway. Thanks!
P.S. I am a perfectly healthy 22-year-old female with no injuries to the knee as far as I know.
I am afraid that I have developed osteoarthritis in my hands, esp. in the thumb joint. I experience pain up to 5 on 1/10 scale, but not swelling. After I ride my bike my hands hurt for several days, maybe the handlebar is too big around. The symptoms developed shortly after I broke my wrist (Collies fracture) two years ago. I realize that if I have this problem it isn't going away. How do I keep the damage to a miminim? I use Ibuprofen for pain with fair results.
He was right. In 2012, I began wearing my first Donjoy Defiance III knee brace. I am on my 3rd one now. Because of the atrophy in my leg, I will have to wear a brace for the rest of my life and this brace seems to be the one that gives me the most support. I hope your knee is better and you do not have to wear a brace indefinitely but if you do, I recommend the Donjoy Defiance III. It is a custom fitted brace. Your doctor should be able to help. I have not heard anything about a new procedure but I did hear that there is a new pain medication called Nucynta (Tapentadol) which is a mu-opiod agonist analgesic. It is structurally similar to Tramadol.
Then in April 2022 I was in a car accident that reinjured my knee. My knee has been super swollen since May 9th, I am just now able to put some weight on it. It does not bend or straighten easily, and bending is the worst. I have to wear the brace on it or when walking it will lockout/hyperextend because it is very unstable. When I went into the doctor, she said she was shocked because the only thing she saw was a possible meniscus tear and a strained or sprained tendon that helps the knee cap.
