Avatar f tn Very recently I began noticing large white capsule looking things in my stool. I read other forums & I noticed a common thread that everyone was taking the medication Metformin. I'm also on Metformin extended release, do u think that could be the cause?
Avatar n tn I don't know about tomato seeds, but the rest of that is correct: If you have diverticulosis, you should avoid seeds and nuts, as these may not properly digest and lodge in the diverticulum, causing diverticulitis.
Avatar n tn If you have abdominal pain, diarrhea and some blood in your stool, you really should see a doctor. This could be something quite serious, then again it could be something simple. How long have you had these symptoms? Is it only after eating food that you see traces of blood or is it a larger amount? How is your energy level? Are you feeling tired/ fatigued? You may be dehydrated. Get to your doctor or emergency room.
Avatar f tn According to me, Eye floaters can be clumpy or stringy, light or black. They are due to sections or specks of undissolved vitreous gel content sailing in the demolished gel-like liquid (vitreous) in the rear of your right eye, which throw black areas on the retina when mild goes into your right eye. That's why you suffering this kind of problem so you should go for an eye care specialist which suggest you or solve your problem.
Avatar n tn I'm rather embarrased to use this forum to address this problem, but would be more embarrased to go to Dr. and be embarrased in person. Frequently I find white or yellow 'pellet' in my stool. They are relatively uniform of 1 inch long and 1/2 wide. Is this just mucous that has hardened in stool or something to be concerned about?
Avatar n tn Did you ever find out what the elongated capsule shaped thing was in oyur moms stool? I have been having the same thing and i managed to pick one up with a tissue and squish it and there was white stuff inside. Very strange. Please let us know.
Avatar m tn If they have somethig inside it is a full pill undigested. Metformin XR has been reported to come out in your poo. Check tht out also if u are on Metformin XR. Be glad these are coming out and not remaining inside. I also had them just recently and I disinfected everythng and disected it, white mash potatoe substance inside, everyone says the same thing when directed. This is not a ghost pill, but if a shell only yes.
Avatar f tn t feel them come out, they are not in my stool, but float freely and do not go down when you flush!! (which is how I realized I had them) I don't seem to have any of the obvious symptoms (i.e, stomach cramps, vomitting, headache etc) I haven't travelled anywhere or eaten anything strange. I do have diarrhea, but that is a side effect of the Metformin I take and has been for quite some time, so it's hard to tell whether or not whatever I might have is causing me diarrhea.
225237 tn?1333138999 for the past couple of days I noticed something in my bowel movement.....its in my morning stool it looks kinda orangish an kinda like a small carrot that has white stuff in the middle. I know this is totally disgusting but I need some advice! Could it be the metformin being released in my stool?? If so, does that mean I'm not getting my medication like I should?? My sugar levels have been alright, sometimes up to 140 after I eat a meal that I shouldn't but other than that ok.
Avatar f tn Assumed it was a hemorrhoid so paid no attention to it. Just occasional blood in stool. In the past few months, there is more blood with stool and she has mostly diarrhea when she goes. Not a lot of formed stools now. OK so about a month ago, there started to be small amounts of mucous with the stool (and still blood). Now in the past 2 weeks, the blood and mucous are even more volume. and it is every time.
Avatar n tn i have been having these pea-sized white balls in my stool. When broken open they have pus in them. I have been to a gastroenterologist and he did a colonostopy and found olny hemorriods, They sent the samples off and got a negative on parasites and then sent it to pathology and said it is undisgested medication. I am always nausated and i dont believe that is all this is. I have been on the same meds for years and about six months ago started having these symptoms.
Avatar n tn If you are finding only the shell that is very common. However, if you are finding full undissolved tablets in your stool I would then suggest you contact your prescriber. Best of luck to you. Jennifer R RPh www.drugstore.
Avatar m tn There will be some watery substance also in the stool. I will feel little chill and weakness also. Sometime there would be a strong urge but there would be no stool. But if I take one Advil then everything would be OK. The same cycle will repeat again after few days. I have gone for several kind sof test - colonscopy, barium anema, colon cancer test and several other tests I do not remember in last 8 years. The problem has reduced in the recent months but it is not gone completely.
Avatar f tn Occasionally I have seen the tablets in the stool and just figured it was the empty jackets, but a light went on in my head a couple days ago and I used a straw to investigate. The pills were not just empty jackets, but full of an off white substance.. Could this be the problem? The deal is that I have no G.I. symptoms to account for me not digesting these pills. Could this account for the increased pain? I do not see my doctor for three weeks.
Avatar f tn I've had no side effects. Once in a while i'll have loose stool if i eat too many carbs. How is your dr. having you take it?
Avatar n tn Metformin is not a diuretic, it is an insulin sensitizer. It makes the cells in your body more sensitive to your body's own insulin. Some people have tummy issues, but these are typically manageable and go away after a period of time. The best way to minimize this is to start on a very low dose and then build up slowly over days to weeks. Yes, cutting carbs is the best way to help manage diabetes.
Avatar n tn I am having this same problem !! I feared something terrible was wrong with me! This has been occurring noticeably for the last 3 days. I have never seen these large "corn nut" looking like things in my stool before. They are about an inch in size and yellow in color. I started taking Chromium Picolinate for my sugar recently and I am going to stop taking that I also take Metformin and I cannot stop that. I am just concerned by the sudden appearance of these shapes in my stool.
Avatar f tn ve been diagnosed pcos for 20 years had metformin in past for insulin resistance. Had diarrhoea every day for almost a year now ( not on metformin) with occ fatty stools dr thinks could all be related to pcos as pancreas deficiency. Any body else experienced anything similar?
1270834 tn?1270769758 I've found similar objects in my stool twice and have been really worried about parasites. I take Venlafaxine as well and was feeling cautiously relieved today when I found a few people online saying they'd found out that this problem was caused by similar undigested medications. I pulled open one of the capsules to compare the contents with the white balls in the stool, and they looked very much alike.
Avatar f tn re not watching the fat in your diet, this med in addition to fat in the diet (after having your GB removed) can cause problems such as those you're mentioning. If you are consuming fats, try cutting back and see if that's of help.
Avatar f tn There are also seen, but much less frequently, larger smooth hard masses of a yellowish-brown color, but white on section. They are usually present in small numbers in a stool, the rest of which might be quite normal. These hard or “bean curds,” so called for their resemblance to lima beans, are composed chiefly of protein, usually with an envelope of fat.
1187113 tn?1320691496 I have been taking Metformin 500mg 3x a day for almost a week now...on Friday, I had a problem digesting my food properly...It took until almost 5 o'clock for my breakfast biscuit to digest, which is very unusual being it was eaten at 9 or earlier...then after eating pizza around 7 and going to sleep at about 1 a.m...I awoke at 5:39 a.m. gagging and vomitting to the point that I had to take phenergan to gain some relief...
Avatar f tn I am taking 2000 mlg of metformin but i felt my body was used to it. I started it almost 3 weeks ago but never really had the symptoms. Also ive been having slight cramps here and there but nothing major. My bf smokes but when he comes inside it feels like he took a shower in the smell its so strong! Also meats like steak and such taste like there not cooked all the way like there still bloody or something. Even though i know it is cooked. And tmi i know but my stool is super soft.
Avatar f tn In the last six months, I've noticed stool objects that is yellowish in color, shaped like a very large vitamin gel, apprx 1 1/2 in length, and smooth. I am startled to see it or them (recently three and four at once), because it's obviously very different than my regular stool. I seem to be excreting more with time. These "capsules" are excreted whether I am experiencing a loose bowel, a regular bowel, or constipated bowel movement.
393893 tn?1283551230 Hey--I had a very hard time on Metformin also. I had to titrate up very, very slowly--like two weeks at a time. Just as I felt better, I got pregnant, and they had me discontinue taking them. I never had hair loss, though, that sounds wicked BAD! Fertility meds helped me get a BFP, so I wouldn't think discontinuing Metformin alone would prevent you from becoming so.
Avatar m tn My Mother is 92 slim 126 pounds she feels lightheaded and dizzy in the Mornings after taking her metformin but fells better as the day wears on . I believe the metformin lowers her blood sugars in the morning causing her to feel dizzy and spacy.
Avatar n tn Then 3 years ago I was diagnosed with hypothyoid and PCOS. I am on metformin and synthoid. I went to gastroentologist and he did the stool sample. Everything came back normal. My endoscope came back normal as well. He said it might be the side effect from metformin. But my other doctor disagree. He says since I am on metformin for years now, it shouldn't be the side effect from the medication.
Avatar f tn When I took all the meds in that I were taking she only opened up this Metformin and smelled it. She told me to smell it and it smelled like amonia. I never paid any attention to its smell. Doctor told me it was not the real metformin and the binders (chalk) used in it was probably causing me to have IBS. At the beginning of my visit she wanted me to see a GI doctor but after this she instructed me not to take anymore of this medication. She has giving me a new prescription for same med.
