If your thyroid is goitered, then yes it can cause a lot of neck pain. My thyroid swells off and on.....it is a pain in the neck......literally! LOL I use ice packs a lot. I wish I could get my dr to send me to a surgeon to at least get the worst side out. One thing you definately need to have done in the mean time you are debating, is the tests for Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroid disease and Graves. What were your exact lab results with ranges?

Hello, I am a 48 year old woman who was diagonosed with Underactive Thyroid three years ago (although I know I had it for some time previous to this). I have always been very active. Over the last two to three years I have delveloped aches/pains all over my body. My neck cracks. Both my hands hurt alot and keep dropping things and knocking things over. I take strong Solpadol prescribed by the Dr. -to keep funtioning.

I was diagnosed in 1996 with an over active thyroid, I weighed 111 lbs. I'm 5'5" tall. After treatment for a few years the thyroid went to underactive. I've been on 88mg of Levothyroxine for many many many years. Recently I noticed a weight gain without trying. My PCP appt in October 2017 I was 142, my most recent visit along with thyroid testing I was 146. I have not changed my eating habits at all.

if your thyroid is underactive it causes your metabolism to slow down..could cause you to gain weight, or make it difficult to lose. it also can , in general, make your bodily functions just much slower.,.make u feel kinda "draggy" and tired all of the time. i think it can be caused by some sort of autoimmune reaction where your body produces antibodies and for some reason they attack and gradually destry the thyroid gland..thats why you feel so tired..it slows everything down.

Yes, you can use thyroxine concurrently with HCV therapy. In fact, interferon at times causes thyroid issues... there are plenty of others with similar problems.

Hi I had some blood test s done early because of my iron deficiency and my doc done glucose and thyroid s blood came back my iron is low thyroid is low glucose is fine... and as you do I looked up underactive thyroid and it can have all sorts of birth defects.... Please understand that TSH is a pituitary hormone that is supposed to accurately reflect the levels of the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4; however, TSH cannot be shown to correlate well with either much less with hypo symptoms, which are most important. With that said, your TSH is well above range and usually indicative of a patient still being hypo. Are you having hypo symptoms? If so, which ones are you noticing?

The thyroid weight gain is usually under 10 pounds and is mainly water. Still, I would have a full thyroid panel with thyroid antibody test to rule out thyroid disease as it could be making you not feel like exercising--leading to the weight gain. Also, children do put on weight after age 5 so the tonsil surgery could be a coincidence rather than a true correlation.

I do not trust the doctors, especially the endo that I saw with my symptoms. I have a pain on the right side of my neck and chest pain but my heart and lungs are fine. I feel like the endo is in business of making money not helping people.I had two visits with him and he rushed and told me"you have an ugly thyroid and your nodules could be malignant" I went to see him with the results from my ultrasound that my primary doctor ordered.

I'd say it's pretty normal to feel awful with a tsh of 100. That is completely hypothyroid and can make you feel beyond ill. You should start to feel better in a few weeks when that number starts coming down. Are you going to get your blood checked again? When my tsh was that high it took a long time for it to come down and for me to start feeling well again. It just takes time but make sure you are getting your levels checked every 4-6 weeks to make sure you are making progress.

i was told i had underactive thyroid. scale is suppose to be 5.50 and blood work showed 6.73. what does this mean? i was put on synthroid .025 mg to start and another blood check in 6 weeks. is this just a little off or a lot? and can you please explain some of the symptoms to me? i know my menstral cycle has been heavier and some spotting in between. bloating, contipation, sometimes severe constipation.
