Avatar f tn I am feeling absolutely fine and have never been diagnosed with thyroid problems in the past. In fact, I am pretty overweight just due to not dieting or exercising like I should have been. They prescribed me the lowest dosage of Synthroid available. I cannot for the life of me understand why they would give this to me having a slightly overactive thyroid because I am under the impression that it is for people with underactive thyroids.
Avatar n tn just wondering if you know your actual numbers for amount of thyroid hormone is in your blood naturally and what your free t4 levels are. if your in the subclinical hypothyroidism numbers research and treatment options vary. some say medicate some say it isn't a must. major birth defects tend to be related too extreme cases of hypothyroidism. also something i learned early in pregnancy is stay away from the internet you'll only scare yourself. if you trust your dr.

Avatar n tn Since my miscarriage I read about underactive thyroid causing issues in pregnancy such as increased risk of miscarriage and still birth and difficulty conceiving. I have had an underactive thyroid hypothyroidism since birth and I have been taking 150mg of thyroxine medication all my life. My Nurse checked my T4 count a fews weeks ago and said all was fine before I knew I was pregnant.

Your thyroid plays a part in ALL of your body's organs and how they work from day to day, including fertility. Getting your thyroid hormones level and steady with proper medication and doctor's supervision, you should be able to get pregnant with no problem!
Avatar f tn I have an underactive thyroid, too. I was regulated before my pregnancy but that honestly means nothing because pregnancy itself can cause a controlled thyroid to go out of wack.. They'll probably draw your blood much more and adjust your medication accordingly, but I've had no issues with mine. My previous pregnancy I had no idea I had an underactive thyroid til the end and my son was just fine!

Avatar f tn You probably mean hypothyroid and the TSH was 8 (which is elevated and reflects an underactive thyroid). This can be safely managed during pregnancy to minimize the risk of miscarriage, neurologic problems in the baby and pre-term delivery. Abortion is not usually needed.

Avatar f tn Hello, Tubal ligation and tubal implants are not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. The failure rate depends on method used and several other factors. Breast discharge can be caused by many causes. Pregnancy is one of them. Other causes are use of pills, fluctuating hormones, stimulation of the nipples through sex, underactive thyroid, raised prolactin levels due to prolactinoma, galactocele and early form of breast cancer called carcinoma in situ.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed in 1996 with an over active thyroid, I weighed 111 lbs. I'm 5'5" tall. After treatment for a few years the thyroid went to underactive. I've been on 88mg of Levothyroxine for many many many years. Recently I noticed a weight gain without trying. My PCP appt in October 2017 I was 142, my most recent visit along with thyroid testing I was 146. I have not changed my eating habits at all.
Avatar f tn Have been having severe depression, fatigue, headaches, ache in hip joints in bed, my thyroid I think is now slightly enlarged and sometimes I feel it pulsing, just odd. No energy or motivation just want to go to bed. Prefer to avioid contact with other people - not maintaining any friendships like I used to do. I am peri-menopausal - last period so far Aug 2011.
5939183 tn?1377163795 What are your actual thyroid levels? Just because they are in the normal range, doesn't mean they are normal for you. If they are too low in the range, you will have symptoms, such as the ones you have. You should be getting tested for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Many doctors will only test TSH, thinking that it tells everything there is to know about thyroid function, when that couldn't be further from the truth.
Avatar n tn i was told i had underactive thyroid. scale is suppose to be 5.50 and blood work showed 6.73. what does this mean? i was put on synthroid .025 mg to start and another blood check in 6 weeks. is this just a little off or a lot? and can you please explain some of the symptoms to me? i know my menstral cycle has been heavier and some spotting in between. bloating, contipation, sometimes severe constipation. Avatar f tn I have an underactive thyroid and goitres which I have had for the last 2 years. I have recently had a scan which has indicated that my thyroid has enlarged since my first scan 2 years ago. The reason I requested a scan was due to the severe neck pain I am getting on a regular basis. After seeing a surgeon for the 3rd time he has given me 3 options, 1. not to have an operation, 2. To book the appointment for the operation or 3. Take time to make my decision.
Avatar n tn Medication dosage should be whatever amount of T4, T3 or combo T4/T3 types that are required to relieve symptoms. In my opinion the best way to treat a thyroid patient is to test and adjust levels of FT3 and FT4 with meds as required to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels. Symptom relief should be all important.
