Avatar m tn Is this something that I should be concerned about, from what I gather, confusion isn’t that uncommon in cases of extreme Hypothyrodism, particularly in the elderly? Their telling me that it could take up to six weeks for her level to get where they need to be. Anyone know if Warfarin could have caused her level to change drastically, because she just started taking it recently. I checked for interactions between Levothyroxine and warfarin, and there are some, but they didn’t seem to fit.
Avatar f tn I am feeling absolutely fine and have never been diagnosed with thyroid problems in the past. In fact, I am pretty overweight just due to not dieting or exercising like I should have been. They prescribed me the lowest dosage of Synthroid available. I cannot for the life of me understand why they would give this to me having a slightly overactive thyroid because I am under the impression that it is for people with underactive thyroids.

Avatar m tn I was diagnosed in 1996 with an over active thyroid, I weighed 111 lbs. I'm 5'5" tall. After treatment for a few years the thyroid went to underactive. I've been on 88mg of Levothyroxine for many many many years. Recently I noticed a weight gain without trying. My PCP appt in October 2017 I was 142, my most recent visit along with thyroid testing I was 146. I have not changed my eating habits at all.
Avatar f tn Have been having severe depression, fatigue, headaches, ache in hip joints in bed, my thyroid I think is now slightly enlarged and sometimes I feel it pulsing, just odd. No energy or motivation just want to go to bed. Prefer to avioid contact with other people - not maintaining any friendships like I used to do. I am peri-menopausal - last period so far Aug 2011.
Avatar n tn just wondering if you know your actual numbers for amount of thyroid hormone is in your blood naturally and what your free t4 levels are. if your in the subclinical hypothyroidism numbers research and treatment options vary. some say medicate some say it isn't a must. major birth defects tend to be related too extreme cases of hypothyroidism. also something i learned early in pregnancy is stay away from the internet you'll only scare yourself. if you trust your dr.
5939183 tn?1377163795 What are your actual thyroid levels? Just because they are in the normal range, doesn't mean they are normal for you. If they are too low in the range, you will have symptoms, such as the ones you have. You should be getting tested for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. Many doctors will only test TSH, thinking that it tells everything there is to know about thyroid function, when that couldn't be further from the truth.
Avatar n tn i was told i had underactive thyroid. scale is suppose to be 5.50 and blood work showed 6.73. what does this mean? i was put on synthroid .025 mg to start and another blood check in 6 weeks. is this just a little off or a lot? and can you please explain some of the symptoms to me? i know my menstral cycle has been heavier and some spotting in between. bloating, contipation, sometimes severe constipation. Some anxiety with panic attacks. No ambition, and trouble sleeping.
Avatar f tn Hi just joined i have a underactive thyroid.
Avatar f tn I have an underactive thyroid and goitres which I have had for the last 2 years. I have recently had a scan which has indicated that my thyroid has enlarged since my first scan 2 years ago. The reason I requested a scan was due to the severe neck pain I am getting on a regular basis. After seeing a surgeon for the 3rd time he has given me 3 options, 1. not to have an operation, 2. To book the appointment for the operation or 3. Take time to make my decision.
Avatar n tn Medication dosage should be whatever amount of T4, T3 or combo T4/T3 types that are required to relieve symptoms. In my opinion the best way to treat a thyroid patient is to test and adjust levels of FT3 and FT4 with meds as required to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels. Symptom relief should be all important.
720499 tn?1230845510 Sorry its me again forgot to mention that i have a underactive thyroid I was told this could be the cause of my cyst what do u think?

1289966 tn?1326101570 having a underactive thyroid ,ive gained a little weight ,i did put it down to giving up smoking 3 years earlier, but my doc says it is down to the thyroid problem, now that i have started on thyroxine and trying to exercise, will i lose the weight or will it always be there, what im trying to say is, as i lose it will my underactive thyroid make me gain it again just as soon as its gone
Avatar f tn The thyroid weight gain is usually under 10 pounds and is mainly water. Still, I would have a full thyroid panel with thyroid antibody test to rule out thyroid disease as it could be making you not feel like exercising--leading to the weight gain. Also, children do put on weight after age 5 so the tonsil surgery could be a coincidence rather than a true correlation.
Avatar f tn s is often characterized by periods of overactive thyroid in the beginning stages, then as the thyroid is destroyed the thyroid becomes underactive. If you haven't been tested for antibodies, you should request to have those done. Tests needed would be Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TGab) for Hashimoto's and Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulins (TSI) for Graves Disease.
Avatar n tn Since my miscarriage I read about underactive thyroid causing issues in pregnancy such as increased risk of miscarriage and still birth and difficulty conceiving. I have had an underactive thyroid hypothyroidism since birth and I have been taking 150mg of thyroxine medication all my life. My Nurse checked my T4 count a fews weeks ago and said all was fine before I knew I was pregnant.
Avatar f tn however, you should get both thyroid and B12 levels tested. Many people who have thyroid problems are deficient in B12.
Avatar n tn I had to ask him how my results were and thats when he told me my thyroid was underactive. My father also has a underactive thyroid and takes a pill every day. Now when the doctor told me about the underactive thyroid he gave me another blood test and I still havent heard back from him. Do I need medication like my father takes everyday for this? I always feel tired. bad memory and I dont know what I should do, If I should see another doctor about this, or if I need medication.
Avatar f tn underative thyroid run in the family. in fact i have and had unteated underactive thyroid when i was pregnant with him. not by choice, but because my ob at the time wouldnt check me for it. any way he has been have development delays, especially in his speech, and behavioral problems. any information would be helpful, i dont know what to do.
Avatar m tn I also have Hashimotos and am losing weight even tho my results mean I have an underactive but my research shows that hashimotos fluctuates your thyroid you can be underactive and overactive in the same day, so measuring your TSH is useless in some ways but an antibody test works way better. My tsh levels can be normal but my antibodies can be high. I find the best docs and specialists are your own self. I usually tell my docs and specialists now what I want.
