Hey any one awake yet....I have a question...the doc. now has put me on ultracet...it says 37.5 5/325....i had to take 2 yesterday over the cource of 12 hours...my questions is i'm reading that ppl are becoming addicted...i dont understand how....they dont make me feel high.....however the pain is better..not completely gone but better...so my ? is why are ppl getting addicted taking 10-15-20 a day if they dont get you high...can someone enlighten me.
Of course he winced at the amount of vicodin i was on, and immediately wrote a prescription for Ultracet....so I have about 70 vikes left from my last rx.... im not about to go lying to another doctor to get vicodins.... i just cant....
one other question-- what is the deal with "pain management" doctors? do primary docs just refer you to them so THEY can write the narcotic prescriptions,or are they there to help find "alternative" methods of treating the pain?
Can I take ultrcet for the w/d at a very low dose, or will the w/d from ultracet be just as hard to quit?
So I was taking 1 vicodin and 2 ultracets in the morning, 3 ulracets in the afternoon, 1 vicodin 2 ultracets in the evening and 3 ultracets in the night! I did that everyday, the first time i tried quitting i was going through a nervous scared depressed feeling. so my doc put me on anti-depressants and xanex. then i started my pill popping 5 days later. Well today is day 2 of no pills but my xanex to help me sleep and my lexapro. im sweating, then im cold, I got the runs!
Hey Aaron... Ultracet is addictive. Many people have gotten hooked on it. Its Ultram/Ultracet/Tramadol I believe they are all related and whehter doctors say so or not, they are addictive and can be dangerous. :( sorry for the bad news. They are also derived from the opiate family. Be careful with them. Ive used them during in between times when I was using -- just to hold w/drawal at bay -- so that should tell you something right there..
I am a music minister in an Evangelical Bible Church and have just had my second back surgery. My back feels great! I had unbearable pain for only a year (not much compared to some of the posters on here (7+ years of back pain, how do you do it?)). Throughout my year of pain, my doctor prescribed me hydrocodone (from 5's to eventually 10's) and tramadol 50mg (which I took with tylenol 50/500 - making it basically generic ultracet).
I have been on Vicodin for about 3 years ago. I have terrible pain, but I got sick of feeling cloudy-minded. I threw them all away last night. I had cut down from 2 7.5's 4 times a day, to two a day. I thought that would be enough to taper. It is not working, or it is all in my head. I have some Ultram...would that help the physical withdrawal and the pain.
Still some pain so am taking 3 Ultracet tabs per 24 hours with pretty good pain relief except following 30 minutes on the treadmill and various muscle building exercises and stretches. To calm down those muscles following exercises and stretches I would like to take one 200mg Celebrex daily but one drug interaction cite suggests "Moderate" drug-drug issue involving CYP450 2D6, which means nothing to me.
I didn't realize there were different schedules for pain meds...I have rsd in both hands..I've gone from ultracet to vicodin to my second increase on percocet..Maybe this is why my pm dr is hesitant to up my dosage anymore. I have increased my neurontin increased to 1200mg a day..also on cymbalta and voltaren gel..Thanks for the info....
I for about 3-4 years during this same vicodin use was prescribed Ultracet @ about 300mg a day. I discontinued use about 3 months ago with the suspicion that it was, more so than the vicodin, the primary source of my pain relief. Turns out it was and that the vicodin really wasn't doin it for me, so it being the opiate i decided to discontinue that as well (i wasnt getting any pain relief and the possibility of abuse was too strong).
So i dont really know whats going on right now.
The vicodin is stronger than ultram or ultracet. I was on Ultram initially and then was increased to vicodin. I recommend that you ask your doctor to let you go back to taking the vicodin. The reason your doctor let you try the Ultram so easily is because it is not a controlled substance (i.e., it makes her job easier). You shouldn't expect any more pain relief than you are already experiencing on the Ultram.
Ultram ACTS like a narcotic but it is not a pure opioid agonist.
I believe Ultram and Ultracet are the same. It is 37.5 tramadol and whatever of acetaminophen. I had the generic of Ultracet (have the bottle right in front of me) it is broke down as aceetaminophen and 37.5 tramadol. It is entitled tramadol (generic for Ultracet) but it has the acet/tramadol combination.
I was then prescribed straight tramadol which is 50mg tramadol with nothing else added. period.
If ultram is different than that is news to me.
How many pills a day or for how long do you think you would need to be on Ultracet/Ultram before you would experience withdrawal symptoms? My husband took about 100 pills in a 2 week period (unknown to me - they were mine!) and he had mysterious stomach cramping/pain around the time he finished them/ran out. Sounds like it was related.
I have been self medicating myself for god knows how many years. I just recently was taking ultracet, percocet and vicodin for over a year. At very low doses but doing it everyday. Today is my second day off. It ***** of course I feel very down and that my only window to being happy is gone. Now I have been diagnosed with depression and it never really felt like that's what it was to me. In talking to my doc (who doesn't know about my addiction) She diagnosed me with ADD.
i just went to the doctor, and he gave me ultracet. does this work for pain and help withdrawl from hydros?
was your tramadol presription for ULTRAM or ULTRACET? If it is/was UltraCET, that contains acetaminophen (tylenol) as well as the tramadol, so therefore, if you took additional tylenol with it, you could have gotten too much of the tylenol ingredient, which could make you sick (and cause liver damage if continued).
Anyone out there that can feel me in on Ultracet experiences? My doctor put me on this instead of Hydrocodone today and said that since I take Effexor XR that there is a possibility of seizures. I have researched this since and have read all the medical info but would like to hear from real people and their experiences. I have take Hydrocodone since April of last year, 1 or 2 5/500 a day on average and rarely 3 or 4. There are some days that I have not needed it but most days I do.
My friend and I were talking the other day and she said, "Oh, my mom said a lady at her prayer group said that there was "a new darvocet out on the market now." Of course I am more than curious since my mom just had to stop darvocet herself. My friend then tells me this "new darvocet" is called Ultracet! Can you believe this? I knew this was coming since darvocet was pulled by the FDA, now the drs. are going to start prescribing ultracet/ultram/tramadol alot more.
I have fibromyalgia, degenerative disk disease, and cervical disk pain from previous cervical surgeries. Up until 2 weeks ago, I was taking Effexor XR daily, and Zanaflex and Ultracet 37.5, as needed. 2 weeks ago my cervical disk started going haywire with pain. I upped my Ultracet to 3 a day as prescribed and started taking the Zanaflex to the maximum dosage too. This did not faze the pain.
