Common Questions and Answers about Ultracet side effects acetaminophen

ultracet

Avatar m tn There are preferred opiates drugs that are use in patients with liver disease that have shorter half-lives and have less harmful side effects on the renal system. Your liver doctor should be aware of these drugs and be able to determine if you may be able to use them. With regards to OTC medications, normal recommended doses of acetaminophen can be safely given to patients who suffer from cirrhosis in the short term.
Avatar f tn was your tramadol presription for ULTRAM or ULTRACET? If it is/was UltraCET, that contains acetaminophen (tylenol) as well as the tramadol, so therefore, if you took additional tylenol with it, you could have gotten too much of the tylenol ingredient, which could make you sick (and cause liver damage if continued).
Avatar f tn s a Category C medication, which only proves that some studies have been done on the effects of pregnancy....Neonatal seizures, withdrawal and still birth have been shown to be side effects, although they mention those with alot of medications....Because there is acetaminophen in it, I would refrain from taking any additional Tylenol products with it. I can't see as where taking any narcotic is GOOD for a baby or 100% safe, but if your Dr.
Avatar m tn I believe Ultram and Ultracet are the same. It is 37.5 tramadol and whatever of acetaminophen. I had the generic of Ultracet (have the bottle right in front of me) it is broke down as aceetaminophen and 37.5 tramadol. It is entitled tramadol (generic for Ultracet) but it has the acet/tramadol combination. I was then prescribed straight tramadol which is 50mg tramadol with nothing else added. period. If ultram is different than that is news to me.
Avatar f tn s amazing to me that there are still doctors out there telling people that Tramadol is not addictive. Ultracet is Tramadol and Acetaminophen. Your husband is a WISE man to question this before he takes it! Congrats to him on 7 yrs Clean!!! If he is able to tolerate NSAIDS, he could take those or just acetaminophen (w/o the synthetic opioid, i.e. tramadol). I find that Advil Liqui-Gel Capsules work the best for me and there are generic versions of this too at Walmart or Walgreens.
Avatar f tn I just started on Zohydro ER because the idea of not taking acetaminophen with hydrocodone was tempting. (There's a Black Box warning about the acetaminophen in Vicodin). The first day I started the Z. (about 5 days ago) I got less pain relief and much more pain than I had with 5/375 Vicodin! That's seems totally wrong but it happened. The dose of the Z is the same as I got for the number of 5/375s I took per day. Anyone else on Z. and how do you like it? Any side effects?
Avatar f tn Ultracet is Tramadol and acetaminophen. Tramadol is highly addictive and a bear to quit. Those on Tramadol should taper off of it. It is a synthetic opiate. Most here would not recommend it for w/d.
Avatar f tn The meds that they have you on are really not for the control of anything more than minor pain. If more reparative surgery is not an option, it sounds like your condition has progressed to the point where you are going to need to go to an actual pain management doctor, to get meds that most general practitioners are not comfortable prescribing. Ultracet is not for severe pain even though it is listed as such. Not to mention that it is as addictive as any narcotic.
Avatar n tn Hello, Fatigue and dry mouth and dyspepsia are frequent side effects of Vesicare but it is unlikely to cause any sore throat. Your sore throat can be due to some viral infection. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day and use over-the-counter throat lozenges. Salt water gargle is also a good way to relieve a sore throat. In addition, you can take anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and paracetamol (acetaminophen) after consulting your general physician.
Avatar f tn My friend and I were talking the other day and she said, "Oh, my mom said a lady at her prayer group said that there was "a new darvocet out on the market now." Of course I am more than curious since my mom just had to stop darvocet herself. My friend then tells me this "new darvocet" is called Ultracet! Can you believe this? I knew this was coming since darvocet was pulled by the FDA, now the drs. are going to start prescribing ultracet/ultram/tramadol alot more.
909257 tn?1242668182 Pain medications have numerous side effects and those who do take pain meds on a regular basis do usually have some kind of depression due to the fact that they do have chronic pain but as far as the meds causing depression or bipolar no I do not believe so.
Avatar f tn Also, for some people the anti-inflammatories (or acetaminophen) can be taken on a timed schedule for usual duration of the side effects. That is what I have done and it works well.
895871 tn?1241596077 This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Avatar n tn Please tell me the side effects and potential problems when taking all of the following medications by prescription: Cymbalta (60 MG), Hydrocodone-Acetaminophen (5-500 MG), Ibuprofen (800 MG), Mobic (15 MG), Oxycodone-Acetaminophen (5-500 MG), Plaquenil (200 MG), Xanax (0.5 MG).
Avatar n tn it is a synthetic pain med which effects the same receptors as narcotics do..it also has an anti-depressant quality as well which makes them a humdinger to withdraw from ..habit forming and not super powerful in the pain relief arena but very addictive for many people..there is no tylenol in ultram or tramadol/but ultracet has tylenol in it so liver problems if taking alot of them can be a concern....like cathy said..why do u ask?
Avatar m tn Two months ago, not being fully aware of the dangers, I had 4-5 alcoholic drinks and took 3 vicodin pills (1500mg acetaminophen). I never really showed symptoms of hepatoxicity, but I'm wondering if I still could have caused more chronic damage to my liver. I had only rarely used acetaminophen prior to this (maybe once per year) and have not touched it since. For a while, I experienced a heartburn/bloating sensation and was diagnosed with gastritis.
757597 tn?1315801812 If you have been taking them and you are not having any noticable side-effects, then you may be one of those who can do so. One has to weigh the side-effects to the quality of life when taking medications. I took Tramadol for 3 yrs. I could not take it with Effexor due to potential seizure activity. I had previously taken it with Cymbalta, but discontinued the Cymbalta after a few days.
906679 tn?1263612612 When I was prescribed Cymbalta I was already taking prescribed Vicodin, which is hydrocodone and acetaminophen (tylenol). I took them together without any side effects and the pharmacist did not warn me of any drug interactions. None of the literature warns to avoid acetaminophen. I assume they are safe to take together. Again always check with your pharmacist before taking and drugs together. They are the experts. Best of luck to you. Please let us know how you are doing.
Avatar f tn The reason Tylenol PM helps you sleep at night is due to the Diphenhydramine which is a sedating antihistamine that is used in many OTC night time formulations. Diphenhydramine can cause side effects such as excessive daytime sedation, dry mouth, and urinary retention and thus its use long term as a sleep aid may not be preferred, but it is not addictive.
Avatar m tn Hey Aaron... Ultracet is addictive. Many people have gotten hooked on it. Its Ultram/Ultracet/Tramadol I believe they are all related and whehter doctors say so or not, they are addictive and can be dangerous. :( sorry for the bad news. They are also derived from the opiate family. Be careful with them. Ive used them during in between times when I was using -- just to hold w/drawal at bay -- so that should tell you something right there..
Avatar m tn Acetaminophen - Acetaminophen, also known as paracetamol, is commonly used for its analgesic and antipyretic effects. Its therapeutic effects are similar to salicylates, but it lacks anti-inflammatory, antiplatelet, and gastric ulcerative effects. Indication: For temporary relief of fever and minor aches and pains.
